I don't think any of the 4 EVPs actually wanted to do backstage stuff, they wanted to perform and focus on being on-screen talents. That's their passion. But to get AEW off the ground they felt they all needed to pitch in behind the scenes.

The difference between them is Cody was the only one who actually continued to fulfill his backstage job duties once the company got on TV and started having some success. Because even if he realized it wasn't what he wanted to be doing, it was still the job he signed up for. The other EVPs didn't go to meetings or any of that.

Never sounded like there was a bitter fallout between the parties, more of a quiet distancing and it's easy to see why. I'd distance myself too if I was the only one of the 4 focused on running the company while the other 3 just piss about and do their own thing.

Again, it's fine that all of these guys prefer to perform. Then take the EVP titles away. AEW has outgrown the need to have "the boys" in those positions. Put that title on a full-time staffer.

Well that's probably gonna happen now.

Problem with the EVPs is that if you aren't going to take it seriously, the stink is still on you through everything you do.

Bucks and Omega haven't booked themselves as unbeatable--but they don't do anybody any favours either. The people who've worked with the Bucks can say "we had a match the crowd really liked," no doubt. But they never end up better for it. All while the Bucks remain heavily featured acting like two dorks that don't move the meter.

Omega is...I dunno. I don't mind him. I love listening to Cornette so I try not to let his commentary on Mr. Olivier blind me too much. I think he can wrestle pretty damned well but he vastly overrates himself and his promos are bush league as is his general presentation. He has cool outfits and his fans seem to appreciate some of his pageantry and I can't help but think some of that is earned. But he's a niche-within-a-niche and needs to evolve to the next stage.

And honestly, I know he put Hangman over--but where did that get Hangman? It wasn't like the dude suddenly had all this credibility because he beat Kenny. So, basically, once again, Kenny has done nothing to make anybody--much like the Bucks. And I'd argue, despite his run in the promotion thus far being decent enough with some good matches, it's been quite underwhelming compared to all the hype surrounding him in New Japan.

So while these guys were obviously instrumental in getting things up and running, they aren't leaders. They're still performers themselves who--as much as they think they're the height of pro wrestling--actually haven't found themselves. At least not on North American soil.

BTW I'm not even arguing with you Vito. Just going on a Noid rant.
