He did say “literally freezing” which I assume means right at 32 f.

PettyCold for my California self but since becoming a part-time Canadian and experiencing -30, fuck that tough guy shit. Sometimes even the manliest of men (me) need to be swaddled all cozy.

I've never seen -30 in fairness and would probably stay inside if I did. But I have been swimming in a pond with a thin layer of ice on the top when it was like 10 outside. I'll go out and frolic in the snow wearing shorts for sure.

I've probably told the swimming story before, but in case I haven't, here goes. Was playing "manhunt" (read: hide and seek in the dark for teenagers who for some reason find the term hide and seek embarrassing) and I was walking around the frozen pond when I had the brightest idea for the best hiding spot. I cracked the ice, which was super thin as it hadn't had time to freeze much and waded out til I was about neck deep in the pond and just stood there with nothing but my head above the water line until everyone was preoccupied enough that I could walk back out and go to base without any worries lol. Best hiding spot ever even if everyone thought I was a psycho because of it. Was prob in there like 10-15 minutes at the most though.

Being cold tolerant also comes with the negative effect of being super sensitive to heat though. It's like 60 here today and I'm sweating. 80's and up feel like I'm on the surface of the sun. Hate the spring/summer. Applies to food and drink too. Hot drinks especially kill me. My wife will be picking up things and eating/drinking them that I will snatch my hand away from as soon as I touch it because it burnses us.
