**Rate the Music: Week 26**
"Oh, look, it's M-A-G again with his little weekly project." I can hear it now. That aside, good morning to all of you. Even you bots. Yeah, we see you. We're not happy about it, but we see you.
Speaking of bots, last week's Mega Man 2 is loaded with bots. It's also loaded with fun, classic gameplay and some of the catchiest music in the video game stratosphere, not just on the NES. Don't believe me? Well, believe yourselves. Take a look at the leaderboard.... Wily Fortress 1 (Mega Man 2) - 8.75 One-Winged Angel (Final Fantasy 7) - 8.71 Aquatic Ambience (Donkey Kong Country) - 8.66 At Doom's Gate (Doom) - 8.375 Guile Stage Theme (Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo) - 8.25 Secret of the Forest (Chrono Trigger) - 8.14 Go Straight (Streets of Rage 2) - 8 Bloody Tears (Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest) - 7.85 Anything But Tangerines (Earthworm Jim 2) - 7.75 Green Hill Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog) - 7.72 Rainbow Road (Mario Kart 64) - 7.71 Fight Against Smithy (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars) - 7.2 Halo (Halo: Combat Evolved) - 7.125 Spark Mandrill Stage (Mega Man X) - 7 Act 2 Part 2 (Ninja Gaiden) - 6.66 Ozar Midrashim (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver) - 6.6 Breeze - In Monochrome Night (Silent Hill 3) - 6.25 Big Apple, 3AM (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: Turtles in Time) - 6.16 Apocalypse Battle (X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse) - 5.75 Still Alive (Mirror's Edge) - 5.5 The Instinct (Killer Instinct) - 5.42 Blast Man Stage (Mega Man 11) - 4.85 Heaven (The Impossible Game) - 4.16 Goro's Lair (Mortal Kombat) - 4 The Jack Attack (You Don't Know Jack: Television) - 3.57 Yes, that's right. After a 24-week streak at the top, One-Winged Angel finally gets dethroned. The conqueror? Wily Fortress 1 from Mega Man 2! It barely squeaks by the Final Fantasy 7 tune with a very high 8.75 average, but a win is a win. Take your bow. But can it hold on to that spot? Is there another piece of music that deserves to be elevated above everything else? Well, as promised, the next 5 editions of this will be direct challenges to the top 5 spots on the list, all coming from another piece of music from their respective game. So, let's get right to it by starting with the current number 5, which is Guile Stage Theme from Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Guile, you are now being called out by Mother Russia! Here's Zangief Stage Theme from, well, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.... Now it's up to you all. Does this theme reek of superiority in comparison to Guile's? Is it worthy of surpassing that number 5 slot? Why don't we all just, *ahem*, wrestle on it for a bit and then vote. Until next week! ![]() No matter what may happen to me, just remember Lzzy Hale gave me the bedroom eyes... ![]() ...again. |

Maybe the least memorable stage music in the entire game. Gonna give it a 6.

Toss up between a 6 or 7 but went with a 7.
If this was the original version, I'd give it an 8 but something about the Turbo version feels a bit off or not as good despite pretty much being the same song. Capcom went too hard on the instrumentals compared to the original version sounding softer and better. |

Had to check to see which Street Fighter II game I have on the GBA and this was the Zangief theme I heard the most while playing out of all the SFII games in the sub-series.
That version of the game being published by Ubisoft must have been a European thing since that wasn't the case in the U.S. |
