Id give it a 5. When i heard they were splitting the play into two movies i was confused. The critique of the play has always been before the intermission is outstanding and the second half is...whatever at best.
Despite having an infinite ammount of time to write a second act they just adapted it as is. Certainly a choice. So yeah super weak film |

Elio: ***1/4 out of ****
It may seem like a mish-mash of other properties, namely Lilo & Stitch and movies where we do a "liar reveal" bit, but there's a charm to it and enough creativity in the presentation to make it be its own thing. It's at its strongest when it's just bombarding you with the alien stuff, giving you a shining example of the fantastic visuals the studio is capable of. That being said, the style of animation used when it comes to the human characters kind of needs to go. It's this odd 3D take on something like the Steven Universe style, and it looks like they're going to stick with it for their next film, Hoppers. For something like Luca, it works fine and with Turning Red they were going for an anime-esque presentation, but it's starting to look way to cartoon-ish and something that would get pumped out by lesser animation studios. That aside, it's solid and I'm glad I saw it. |

Zootopia 2: ***1/2 out of ****
First off, I have to take the piss out of them bringing in reptiles into this world, because I feel like all the whining from the first film forced their hand. It wasn't even a legitimate criticism. OK, so there are only mammals...so what? What would the addition of other classes have added to the story they were trying to tell? That aside, it was good of them to turn this into an opportunity and weave it into an enjoyable sequel, doing what any great sequel should do, keeping enough familiarity while continuing and expanding the world and story. Now a case could be made that there might be too much familiarity as there are a couple of repeated story beats. But the world these characters inhabit is so fun and the characters themselves are extremely easy to like, that going along with them on this ride isn't a problem. I wish there had been a way to give more time to some of the new characters, but that's a personal thing. The leads are given plenty to do and have a great showcase for their dynamic, which makes up a strong part of the movie. As far as where they go from here, with what I'm assuming is a tease for a third film judging by the post-credits scene, who knows? This was fun and a definite positive for fans of this universe. |

Avatar: Fire and Ash - 9/10
Didn't really feel hype to see it, and haven't sensed hype except from one friend.... but turned out real good. Feel like it didn't drag as much as the other ones could at times.... |

Wake Up Dead Man - 8.5/10
I'd put it on the bottom of the Knives Out movies, feel like the suspects weren't as outlandish and memorable as other entries. The reveal and stuff was still good and engaging and I was never bored. |

I'm trying to find the original.
We're at the point where I can say Yorgos Lanthimos made a great film once. Not for years obviously but him and Taika seem determined to reach oblivion. |

Saw Is This Thing On? last night. Really liked it. It had me rooting for Laura Dern which in my book is a stunning achievement.
