The fact that he got heat before saying anything proves he his a master at getting heat. He didnt need a 30 promo for people to hate him. Just his presence was enough. Too few guys can still do this. The Undertaker and Tully Blanchard come to mind as being the same way. Being Randy's dad did help, but there were also fans in Houston that remember him as a main event heel all over texas in the early 80s. For a fan with just under 20 years of fandom u sure dont understand how the business used to work.
