That's like say you worked at a job for 3 years and made a total of say 100,000 dollars or something, and then you decide to quit and the company demands you give them their 100,000 dollars back.

Why Kevin Lowe would even think something so retarded is beyond me.
*lol* Why is Lowe the idiot in this situation?

This all started last season when Craig MacTavish went on a rant at the end of the season and said players like Comrie should pick it up. The guy only has one move and all the NHL goalies have seen it already. Anyhow, to the story. Comrie whined cause he thinks he's above the coach and GM and wanted a new contract to be signed, thinking he was worth more. I think $8 million over 2 and a half years sounds good to me.

They kept things quiet in the media and that's when Comrie came out and started to whine again about how he was treated here and wanted an out but since the Oil were playing well, why bother?

This all has come to a head because of the 30 teams that are in the NHL, the Ducks are the only ones really looking into him. Lowe looked at what they had to offer and since there's nothing there that the Ducks would trade for Comrie - the money offer has been established.

And Psycho, read the articles. Your analogy is wrong. This is comparable to a employee signing a deal to work for so much a year and then stopped working in the middle of it all. Comrie had a personal services contract, like Wayne Gretzky first signed. It was dated UNTIL he was a unrestricted free agent. I say good on the Oil for this, it shows that they won't get ****ed around by a no talent pretty boy who has had his entire life served to him on a silver platter. And think of the example this will set for future free agents - the Oil are at the front of something once again

It really doesn't sound like a Money issue whhen you consider that Comrie is willing to play for $500,000 on another team.

No, Lowe's thinking. The money he's asking for will cover the cost of the players in the deal, or a possible other star player that the Oilers can sign off the free agent list. Or towards a player they have now. I think it's a way of saying, "Look, we still own your rights and if you don't want to play here anymore - prove it by buying your way out of this contract." The Oilers have never said they didn't want Comrie back, it's Comrie that wants to play elsewhere where he believes he won't have the pressure of performance.

And the contract which is already signed is going to be paying him $2 million a year and not half a million.

YOUR Hero, it's too risky to think two first rounders are going to have talent. For every Dan Heatley, there are hundreds of others that don't make the cut.

You have to have faith in your scouts. When you're given 2 1st rounders, you gotta use them appropriate.

Of course the sucess rate is low, not as low when it's 1st rounders, but they've got nothing beter offered and Comrie isn't playing for them.
