You know, I was thinking tonight that roughly 10 years ago, hockey was a huge ass part of my life, with playing/hockey cards/etc.

I remember Roy, Forsberg and Sakic on the Avs, Hasek in Buffalo, Brodeur was kicking as in New Jersey, Kariya and Selanne in Anaheim, Cujo and Belfour. Man, things have changed.

The 90's were good shit but the NHL is pretty good right now. The post-lockout NHL has definitely been more exciting. There's also lots of good new stars and big name players all over the league and I think the competition has gone up. One thing I like about this "era" is that there seems to be more competition from every team and there's always new teams creeping into playoff spots whereas in the 90s/early 00s it was almost always Detroit, Dallas, Colorado, St Louis dominating the West with the same 4-5 teams round out the playoff eight and New Jersey, Philly, Ottawa etc in the East. I dunno... the 90's were awesome especially the whole Wings/Avs rivalry and the insanely good Flyers with Lindros but I am really enjoying the current era minus the Flames SUCKING ASS.

The 90's were horrific. The Devils started a trend that made the NHL almost unwatchable. 90-94 I won't argue with you was awesome and fun to watch. 95-2000 was God awful.
