Why can't the Red Sox just win the World Series one time? I don't understand it at all. The Red Sox have a better team then the Yankees this year, and for some reason the Red Sox still can't beat them. This year is probably the Red Sox best shot at winning in a while because you know the Yanks are gonna go out and pick a few big name pitchers for next season, they have to, they went one year without having a staff full of huge names.

Its like the Red Sox have some sort of mental block or something, if you switched the teams around, like gave the Sox the Yankees Rosters and vice versa the Red Sox will still probably be down 0-2 right now just because they are the Sox.

Its the same shit every year with our fans too, that "this year is different" thing is bullshit, everyone just says that, its like a gimmick. All the fans just think they will end up losing in the end, I have been trying to fight it and actually stay positive but I don't know. This shit is getting ridiculous

Atleast we got the Pats tho

What makes you think the Sox have a better team than the Yanks? Just because their team looks better on paper? Sorry, but *NEWSFLASH* there is more than being good on paper. Team Chemistry carries a team a lot further than individual performer's. I'm not saying the Sox don't have any team chemistry, but it seem's to me that the Yanks have more than the Sox and that is probably the reason why the Sox can't get by the Yanks.

Umm... You clearly stated that you thought the Red Sox were/are better than the Yanks that's why i said what i did. All I'm saying is that, just because you have a good team of superstar's on paper, doesn't mean you will win it all or beat the team your trying to overtake. Hell the Yanks proved that against Florida last year, and the D-Backs a couple years before that.

Well, in all honesty, I don't think there's an actual curse, but Boston and the rest of the Sox carry that stigma with them maybe subconsciously and that is what's making them lose. I for one, wouldn't mind seeing them win one and then they can just shut the hell up already.

Apperetnly Danny Ainge saw Curt somewhere when there was talk he was going to leave Arizona and he was deciding between the Yanks and Sox.

I've been a Yankee's fan since the mid-eighties. Actually at first if was a big Don Mattingly fan, so that transformed me into a Yankee fan. I've seen many of the low's. I'm definately not a bandwagon jumper. Actually if you want to find out who bandwagon jumper's are all you have to do is ask Patriot fan's who their QB was before Bledsoe and Brady. They probably wouldn't be able to tell you it was.......

Actually, try again... Scott Secules was the starting QB in 1993 the year bledsoe was drafted and the last QB to start before Drew.

Secules was one of Parcells big signings his first offseason... and yeah, it didn't work out so well.

and yes, Zolak did start a few in 1996, but the actually starter that year was still Hugh Millen and his backup was Tom Hodson... but when your on a 2-14 pace you try anything.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Bledsoe was the starter from day one when he was drafted. Zolak wouldn't have started in 96 unless Bledsoe was hurt. Being a Bills fan, i still alway's liked Bledsoe, so i followed the Pat's a little to see how Bledsoe was doing. I do recall Hugh Millen, but i don't really remember Secules, so that goes to show how much he accomplished.

Because the team didn't start to get good until after Bledsoe. Superbowl isn't the only thing to make you a good team... They made the playoffs and in 1996 won the AFC...

Heck, I'm a die-hard pats fan... I remember Dic Macpherson and Rod Rust and the last days of Berry when he was talking to himself in the bathroom...

What changed for the Yanks is free agency allowed George to go after whoever he wanted. While both the Sox and the Yanks are big market teams, Yankee stadium I think holds around 55K where fenway is mid to high 30's. Plus George's Yes net work and personal funds allow him to spend what he wants.

This changed recently for the sox, the new owners are getting every penny they can from this team and putting it into payroll (Well, after their loan payment).

the sox had some good teams in the 80's... and got beat by the mets and late 80's faced a better Oakland team.

It's that simple... the curse is just a refrence point to the last win... that's all...

I mean, the sox had ruth in 1919, but didn't win... so how could Ruth be the curse?

Yes, TV, Radio and STADIUM SIZE! When you can sell out 55K times 82 v. 38K (I think now it's around 38K for the sox) that's almost 20K more tickets a game for 82 games... Yes, that make a difference... 20K more tickets, 20K more sodas, hotdogs, beer, etc...

The Sox new owners have been spending near the same as the Yanks the last few seasons because they figured out how to maximize the money, like the old owners never did.

NESN (the Red Sox version of "yes") used to be a pay station, it no longer is. It's basic cable, which allows more people to watch and more ads to be sold.

Monster seats, 2-3 new front row seats, right field roof w/ tables, and a huge bar, and top of the line food. New conessions, a new conssesion section, better food, quality, choices, etc... All things the old owners never could or wanted to do.

I'm not syaing it's not a factor, but it's still a minor factor when you compare it to the revenue generated by the TV and radio deals. A place like Colorado used to sell out all the time, have 5 million fans a year or something crazy like that, but they could never compete with the likes of the Yankees in terms of buying free agents, simply because their TV rights, which might be OK, are nothing compared to the money the Yankees command.

I really think they are getting swept, Yankees just have been bitching smacking them this whole series.

Oh well, I didn't have the same "feeling" this year as I did last year. I really thought they were going to win it all last year. This year though I dont know, it was a weird year, the expectations where really high and they were actually delievering to the start the season. I mean that happens a lot, but I felt good because they had a lot of injuries, but then they went on that huge slump towards the middle of the season. Once that happened I could kinda tell this year it wasn't going to happen.

Will be intresting to see what happens this off season, I personally see the Yankees improving their pitching staff, and I am not really sure what the Sox are going to do but I am sure they are going to be pulling off something.

Also Francona should be shown the exit, he is playing scared in the playoffs. He isn't doing things the sameway he did it during the season, isnt using the bench at all. He used the bench, and won towards the end of the year. Now he isn't making any subs at all.
