I think the DX heel faction would have worked much better if they re-invented the outlaws.
HHH obviously worked as The Game, and X-Pac had a new heel gimmick where he was a little slimeball that was hooking up with Kane's girlfriend. He actually got a tremendous amount of heat there.
I just think the Outlaws kinda watered it down by going through their normal act. The fans still cheered them in their matches and they played to them when they weren't out there with HHH.

The Road Warriors when they turned on Dusty Rhodes. Seemed pointless to me but I was drifting away from the NWA around that time, wasn't quite the same to me once Ted Turner took it from the Crocketts. JMO
