I wasn't into the hype for BJ/Edgar, nor the match itself. BJ totally psyched himself out before the fight, he was asking one interview "Do you still like BJ Penn? Are we cool?" He's melted into a sack of defeat. Edgar on the other hand was strong and came out with a solid game plan.

However, the fight was horrible. Please stop using the judges to win fights nobody wants to pay 50 or 60 dollars, or search through streams all night to see a bull shit cop out victory. Not saying Edgar didn't win the fight, that's no question but come on! At Least try to finish! The last 10 seconds of that fight showed me that BJ needs to drop down a few levels, he is no longer one of the best in the world and he should be fired from UFC in my opinion.

Losing 2 fights is a far cry from getting fired when you've crushed all the top contenders except the guy who took your belt.

BJ put up about half the fight he would have a year ago though, I think Edgar will lose the title quickly. He will get tagged on the chin and go down to the right guy, soon.

Jordan, just shut up. I dont even like BJ, but he is still the greatest LW ever, and one of the greatest fighters ever to step into the octagon. MMA doesn't need fairweather fans who bitch and moan about decisions, and boo the ground game. Either you enjoy the sport for what it is, or you can not watch because it isn't what you want it to be.

I'm a fan of BJ Penn but I do think his legend is a bit oversold at times.

Well it is, and it isn't. I can't stand the guy most times, and they do over rate his boxing skills, you can't deny his talent, and how good he is. His legend is a bit over-stated, but than again so is Tito Ortiz and to a lesser extant so was Matt Hughes.

I love BJJ man, I have actually trained in it. I just don't appreciate fights not living up to the spectacle. Your on the big stage, everybody wants to see some work, some action. Edgar pushed BJ hard enough, but come on he didn't push him that hard. If he did, he would have knocked him out. He played the judges after the 2nd round to the finish. He knew he had him. And BJ gave up at that point it seemed. He took no risks and it didn't pay off.

The BJJ game will usually prevail in one way or another. But if you keep taking bombs to the face and mortal kombat sweeped to the fucking mat AND your guy keeps getting to his feet after you take him down. Then at that point you switch your game plan (at least if your the best in the world) and you try something else, because you have lost two rounds decisively and your opponent hasn't dropped his guard once the entire match.

His corner could be to blame, they seemed absolutely useless. But if you watch the interview in Boston with Ariel something or other, you will see he has lost confidence and was looking for people to kiss his ass. And thats how his corner treated him instead of being like "Okay BJ, your down on points, you need to rock him and then take him down hard". They just coaxed his ego nervously and fed him to the wolves.

Don't tell me I don't appreciate the sport.

But if I had payed however many hundreds or thousands of dollars for a ticket last night, I think I would have been a little disheartened with the main event.

And you talked about bitching on decisions. Who the hell is Cecil Peoples over me? Who is he? Why does he judge all the fights. There have been PLENTY of fights that the judges were the only three people in attendance who saw it for the winner. Forrest/Bonnar Ultimate Finale?

I have the right to complain or discuss UFC if I want to fool, give it a rest.

I can understand bitching about Silva, I don't think it's neciserily right, because who are any of us to tell a professional fighter how to do his job, but bitching about last nights main event is retarded. Frankie doesn't have one and done punching power, he uses his speed and footwork to get him in and out, and keep his oppenant of balance. Did you ever think maybe Edgar is just better than BJ, and that BJ couldn't do anything. Edgar did everything he could to win the fight, bitching because he couldn't finish BJ or because BJ didnt get the come from behind knockout or submission is just retarded.

Ah, okay so you have a much higher opinion of Edgar than I do. That's my problem here. Neither guy was good enough to finish the fight, and with the rematch it would be more satisfactory to have a KO, TKO, or Submission. Sure the decision was right and fair in everyway, and does go to show Edgar was the better fighter bar none. However I think there are others who can take Edgar out quite easily, he didn't impress me that much. If BJ or anybody would hit him over and over instead of leading him lead then they could beat him. It's just confidence and BJ had none.

Well like they were saying last night..Edgar is just a bad matchup for Penn. And it'd be retarded to complain about the main event..Penn just got outclassed.

So speaking of matchups I think Maynard is a bad matchup for Edgar, so we'll see

Frankie is still growing as a fighter. He was better in this fight than he was in his last fight...did anyone notice that? I did. Also, when WORLD CLASS MMARTIST GO AT IT, A KO,TKO,SUBMISSION ISN'T ALWAYS GONNA HAPPEN.

For me it isn't that Edgar didn't finish the fight that irritated me about it. It was more the fact that BJ didn't even look like he wanted to be in the fight. He didn't look like he wanted any part of it and looked completely uninterested in it except for a few moments where it looked like he was waking up.

I'm not trying to take anything from Edgar as he has shown that he is champion material... but I'm just saying... BJ didn't look like the fighter that he used to be in his previous fights but just looked like a cracked shell of himself. And to be in the main event performing like that... that is irritating.

I'm not a BJ Penn fan, so I may not be able to read his mannerisms, he looked homicidal before the first round, and he looked to be closer to his 'original' self than in Abu Dhabi. Edgar just ate his lunch, and when you're getting dominated like that, what else could he do but shut it down.

so other than maynard (who won a decision when they fought) who is going to hand edgar his ass? BJ has beaten every other contender in the weight class handedly soooooo that makes what edgar was able to do to him that much more impressive.

As much as I hate him, Diego Sanchez shouldn't have moved back up to 170 after losing to Penn.. If he had stayed at 155, he prolly would have won his last fight, putting him n contention to fight Edgar..
