While I was looking forward to Punk vs. Cena, I do actually think this may be a blessing in disguise. It does suck that Cena is hurt, but it's not like his job in in jeopardy, and he gets to sit at home and become fresher while other guys continue to step-up. It also helps that his absence from the WWE will probably be explained by a Punk-led massive Nexus beat-down. That's good for all involved. |

Just because he was injured doesn't mean they have to take him off television.

Punk wins the feud! Punk wins the feud! Punk wins the feud! Cena loses because he is injured, so Nexus and Punk win the feud by forfeit! Also hurt by a member of Nexus, so there is no question about the winner of the feud! Woo! Punk will now set his eyes for the biggest prize in the WWE: The Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania!

Depends on how bad he is hurt and how long he is expected to miss. They might just want to keep him off TV so they're aren't too many questions about the name and face of WWE not wrestling while on tv. |

Yeah, it all depends on the injury. It might not even be anything. It's kind of morbid, but I sort of hoping it keeps him out past Mania. Just for the reasons I mentioned earlier -- fresher stars get to step-up, Cena gets some time off which helps his character, the feud actually gets something from Punk and Nexus taking Cena out, etc.
It'd also be the first WrestleMania Cena would have missed since his first Mania. Not only that, but every one of Cena's WrestleMania appearances has been some sort of title match. Punk could gloat about that and get MASSIVE heat -- which not only gets him over, but puts over the other Nexus guys, too (who were losing steam for a little bit). |

Cena will be wrestling at Wrestlemania unless it's beyond impossible for him to do so. If putting off surgery and working through it is an option, that will happen.
If he can speed up his return to Wrestlemania, or get away with one match, and work a non-wrestling role until Mania, that will happen. And even if he can't get in the ring, I bet he will be on television leading up to Wrestlemania, and be a part of the show somehow. Whether it be as a referee or something else. He's just too important to the company. Especially in these months. It probably gives them a good reason to make him the GM, actually, unless they have bigger plans cemented. |

If this injury keeps Cena on the shelf for a little while, the feud with Punk when he returns will be much bigger. I know it was already big, but Punk can sell that he put Cena out. That will only lead to bigger buildup when he comes back. We all know Cena would have went over on Punk anyway, so at least this way it will be a little more exciting.
Also, if Cena is out for a while, maybe they bring HHH back a little sooner?(unless of coarse he was coming back at the Rumble anyway) I know it's not necessary as they still have a top face with Orton, but maybe... |

It could easily be a few built up knocks and this latest knock has "realised" the injury.

if Cena is injured, i'd just have Punk feud with Orton instead, I mean you have Miz/Morrison and HHH/Sheamus (probably), leaving Orton with nothing to do

Have Punk feud with Barrett.

From PWInsider:
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross wrote on his twitter account that John Cena suffered a hip pointer during his match against Wade Barrett in Wilkes Barre, PA last night. A hip pointer is deep bruising of the pelvic bone and muscle from a hard blow to that area. The injury can also cause internal bleeding within the abdominal muscles. I had the exact same injury in a car wreck in 2001 and it's going to take Cena some time before he'll be able to do any physical activity again as even breathing hard or laughing is going to cause him some pretty severe pain. Jim Ross described Cena's condition as "day to day." |

He has come back early from injuries in the past such as the time he torn a muscle in his chest/shoulder so I wouldn't be surprised if he just takes a couple of weeks off or only does RAW shows. No way he goes for surgery until after Mania since there is too many potential plans and options for him (ex. vs Miz for title, vs Nexus, vs Punk, etc).
Of course he was very lucky last time he didn't re-tear his shoulder/chest muscle after coming back too quickly while doing the same moves as before. |

Seems Cena will only be out for a few weeks, but that could still really get this feud going with Punk.

I wonder if adding Punk as the new leader/manager of Nexus was something they planned a long time ago? Why is Barrett a write-off all of a sudden? Did he get injured at TLC?

Barrett is still working house shows, so I don't think he is injured. I'm sure WWE has a reason for changing the leadership of Nexus. Then again, it's the WWE writing staff and I could just be naive

I think it will come across on TV that Barrett was always second in command of Nexus, He always said there was a 'Much Bigger Picture'.
Theres nothing to stop him coming back to TV next week and 'apologising' to Punk for letting him down then Punk Shouting and giving him a chance to prove he still has some worth to the group. He goes over somebody (maybe Mark Henry, fresh off his demolition of Tyson Kidd and the new monster bodyguard, who come back and pick the pieces) after) Clean and emphatically to stay in the group as second in command, setting up the inevitable 'in feud' with Otunga down the line for the second in command-ship. PS wouldn't be surprised if this was Cena's attempt at gaining some sympathy from this crowd. |

There's loads of ways this can go, Cena injured or not and I'm actually awaiting the next episode possibly more than I ever have done.
1) CM Punk was always really the leader in the "much bigger picture". Either Cena's out from the beating or he comes back and feuds. 2) Barrett was kicked out. If Cena isn't on TV, he did what Wade couldn't do. I'd he is on TV, Wade can team with Cena trying to build up his trust. Then you can either have Wade turn on him or have the Nexus take them out. Honestly cannot wait to see what they will do, especially if Punk's taking the mic off Otunga more. |

Plus you've got to have the 'second nexus' storyline with Bryan, Young, Tarver and Sheffield.

Babyface Nexus. All coming out highfiving kids at ringside, Young dressed like Robin from Batman, Tarver wearing his Weird snood thing like a Zorro mask and having a cape, and then you have Sheffield back as the 'Corn Fed Meathead'
It would be EPIC. |

I think they want us to forget that Tarver, Sheffield and Young were part of the Nexus. I don't see them joining. They'll be repackaged as something else, individually

Or in Tarver and Young's cases, Future Endeavoured as per my Pink Slip Pool predictions.

So apparently WWE has been giving refunds to Raw live events for any fans who want them.
Wow. Guess "Card Subject to Change" means nothing anymore. |

It's good business to do that, honestly, especially when they have that out and do it anyway.
However, it's BAD business when they're basically admitting "yeah, Cena is the only thing people give a shit about. If we don't deliver him, we're going to lose |

Yeah. For their sake, I hope not many people are taking them up on it. If kids would rather stay home than go to a Cena-less show, that doesn't exactly bode well for your product.
