Rick Stiner as a singles wrestler
Stevie Ray and his fucking slapjack Hugh Morrus, thought it was funny though how after he won the u.s title (as Cpt. Rection) they had Goldberg congratulating him on the tron but Goldberg kept calling him Hugh Morrus, just another in the long line of WCW fuck up's I guess. |

I think the term "failed wrestlers" might be unfair to some. I believe in most cases, it's either "failed gimmicks" or "failed face/tweener/heel turns" or "failed singles/tag team runs."

Well, WCW dropped the ball on Bret since he joined. It wasn't Bret's fault.

The fans didn't care about Bret, everyone of his pushes was "meh". No one bought a PPV because of Bret Hart in WCW.

He didn't have like any real pushes, until like Mayhem in 1999 come on. WCW didn't even really try and push Bret Hart

He held the WCW World Title Twice. I don't know how much more of a push you can give someone.

yeah he won it twice in Nov 1999 and then in Dec 1999 after that awful riff on the Montreal screwjob at Starrcade he won it again in that awfully booked finish where he joined the nWo. He won the belt twice in the last 3 months of his WCW career come on.
I don't see how that's a big push. Or hell if you think it is, then I don't see how bad booking makes him a failed wrestler. |

gotta mention Erik Watts
He was awful and he got pushed to the moon when his daddy was running WCW as the president Erik even came back around 1999 |

That's true. The whole Bill and Erik Watts ordeal in WCW kinda reminds me of Verne and Greg Gagne (and you could add Larry Zbyszko as he was married to Verne's daughter) in the AWA.

Screw you. I would pay some sort of up front 5 year subscription to WWE PPVs now if they ensured that Vampiro was wrestling on them. Scott Steiner was also the man.
I would have agreed with Sid had I not just watched how awesome he was in 1999. The guy is a heat machine in this period too. |

To whoever said Kevin Sullivan:
Fuck off. Kevin Sullivan was great as the leader of the Varsity Club and the Slaughterhouse (with Buzz Sawyer and a young Cactus Jack). His feud with "the collective delusion" was incredibly real (because let's face it, he booked his own divorce), and it was a nasty feud and got Benoit over. The Dungeon of Doom itself sucked donkey balls, but I don't blame that on Sullivan. Beyond that, you can't tell me that Sullivan's Army of Darkness in Florida DIDN'T inspire the Ministry of Darkness. |

Alex Wright had momentum in the mid nighties, could have been WCW's HBK to an extent, but somebody wanted to hold him down and feature Hogan instead.

Exactly. And the Army of Darkness has nothing to do with this topic.

Ron Simmons. His World Title run was a mess. It was basically Bill Watts trying to recreate the success he had with the JYD. Problem was Simmons was pretty boring and not over.
Ronnie Garvin is another. Oh and Disco Inferno is amazing. Boogie Knights along with Tokyo Magnum was comedy gold. |

Apart from the Dungeon of Doom (much of which WAS an abomination filled with Hogan's friends), he never worked a main event program in WCW. He knew his limitations. I will not and have not put him on par with a Ric Flair as far as important characters. But he HAS helped the people he worked with get over (again, a young Cactus Jack comes to mind. As does Rick Steiner.). He was a niche performer and he filled his niche. Again, El Gigante was horrible. Bill Kazmier was horrible. Buff Bagwell can suck a barrel of cock. Kidman wasn't worth going over hogan. |
