Yeah. I think the belt has stuck around because it appeals to kids whereas a normal, respectable looking belt wouldn't sell as well to their demographic and I'd venture to say most belts are bought for kids and not guys in their mid 20s to early 30s.

It's long overdue and if ADR is true to his character he should come out and say this belt is beneath him and looks that it was made by peasants and bring back the Undisputed WWE Championship besides they've been referring to it as such ever since at least Summerslam why else would they?

no it wasn't, it debuted during the 2nd Hogan/Andre match on SNME. In Hogan's promo before the match he has the old belt, when he makes his entrance, he's wearing the new one. I remember thinking it was some kind of "continuity error" when I saw it for the first time but I assume they'd have mentioned it at some point in the build up or whatever.

Actually, it was on The Main Event, which aired on a Friday night only five times between 1988 and 1991, and it was a half-hour shorter than SNME.

I think it actually fits ADR pretty well. It's a huge chunk of gold. It's "loud". Fits perfectly for a guy that likes to flaunt his wealth.
