Annnnnnd I did it.
Alfredo Tejada of the Tijuana Los Golden Sombreros has pitched a perfect game. Had to battle back a few times in the 8th and 9th inning. Had to come back from 3-0 for the last out and I struck him out looking on a slider. 10 SO. I thought I would blow it because I didn't score a run until the 8th inning. |

I dunno where to go from here. I keep winning with this "rag-tag" bronze players so I'm still stockpiling silver+ cards. I think I might quit.
This is a great mode but they need to slightly readjust how much money you get, how much it costs to spend on points, and how many games played. I think pitchers should be changed to APP rather than games played. I have a 35 games played pitcher about to expire and he's only thrown maybe 3 times. They need more variety in the card players also. I have too many brown skinned average players and I have to go into edit and change the socks or shoes or something to give them character. The community needs to improve too but that can be said about anything. Too many bullshit early stealers. I got matched up against 2 teams whose entire pitching staff was nothing but submariners. I hope grief reports actually do something in the next game. Improve online connectivity in next game. Update Chase Field. |

I think I'm done with this and trading it in soon. With B-Lands 2 around the corner and everything else, won't have time to get around to it.
Final total for the Tijuana Los Golden Sombreos is an even 100-60 for the whole summer. Flirted with a 1775 rating and top 150 rank at times. I didn't play anything other than Diamond Dynasty all year practically. Didn't bother with RTTS or a Franchise. Played a few exhibition games and played a few with RP. If they could find a way to fix the bullshit, readjust the money system, add like a "Hall of Honor" so that Dynasty players stats are tracked for the life of your team and you can compare them no matter how far you get, maybe add custom ballparks (which would be awesome), maybe be able to retire jerseys for "HOH" players, just make it better overall and then I don't think I'll play any other game next year. Maybe even add custom leagues so you only get matched up with players you know that aren't dickheads. |

Finally caved in and picked a used copy of this for more than half off - hoping it'll fulfill my baseball fix for the winter. Still feels like a waste of $25. Not that it's a bad game, it's just barely different from MLB 11. Ah well, glad I didn't pay full price.
I know the Mets have a horrendous bullpen, but do you REALLY need to make me live it out in video game form as well? I'm throwing pitches with pinpoint placement on the meter (went back to the meter, hated pulse pitching) and yet I'd still miss wildly. Just gave the game that same scripted feel that it always had. Haven't tried Diamond Dynasty yet though so maybe that'll keep me from wanting to turn the game off in frustration. |

buying this on the cheap from eBay rn and hoping I can put R.A Dickey on the Blue Jays for a career mode. Was going to be like "Roxer, can I do this" but he hasn't been online, ditto BigVito22, going to blame both of you if I don't get "MAXIMUM SATISFACTION" from this Playstation 3 extravaganza

Yeah you can edit the rosters before starting franchise. Also be prepared to have some insanely frustrating games where your bullpen will tank it single-handedly or you'll ground into a million double plays.
But the game also can be absurdly epic at times. I'm in the 2013 season and had a thrilling 7 game NLCS with the Reds. Then in game 2 of the World Series, the Tigers pinch hit Victor Martinez for Delmon Young late in the game, and for god knows what reason they left Victor in LF. Tied in the 9th, man on 3rd with two outs. Liner to LF, I think "well shit, extra innings here we go" only for Victor to drop it for the walkoff win. ![]() |

So I just bought this game yesterday for 17 dollars gamestop used, and this is the first baseball game I have bought since The Bigs 2. I have to say I am having a blast with this game. Started my player with a starting pitcher and hope to be able to get called up.

FIRST GAME PLAYED. Couldn't hit jack shit, aiiight at pitching, pretty shocking at fielding via not knowing the "ins and outs" so I'm making the dumbest throws etc. Did deny Steven Strasberg a perfect game when he was 2 outs away tho, which was far more satisfying than a hit earlier in the game would have been. Still lost 3-0. Presentation and "the little things" are amazing.

I WON A GAME. Wound up going 11 innings in a game I set to 5 and hitting a 2 run HR with Ryan Howard and to win 3-1, chyeahhh. Feel like this game would be the greatest thing ever if my baseball knowledge was anything approaching good

If there are less than 2 outs, runners are free to advance after the ball is caught. However it's only worth running if the ball was hit deep enough so that you don't get thrown out. Most common situation is a fly ball scoring a runner from third base - considered to be a sacrifice fly.
Also relief pitchers can serve as specialists. For instance, a lot of left handed batters suck dick at hitting left handed pitching. So it's always good to have a lefty reliever or two in the bullpen for late game situations. Since I have to face Chase Utley and Ryan Howard a lot I always make sure my Mets have 2 lefty relievers at minimum. |

see I figured that was the case, gonna start advancing runners a lot more
and can you change the pitchers whenever you feel like it i.e pull your relief guy and send him back in to face specific parts of the lineup etc or are they done for the game as soon as you sit them? I suspect it's the latter, I've just not used more than a starter and a relief pitcher or closer in a single game yet |

once you take a pitcher out of the game, he cannot be put back in.... The optimum scenario is to go 6 innings with your starter (or in the NL game where pitchers hit, to usually his 2nd or third at-bat), then pinch hit for him and have releivers split the remaining innings..... most relievers I try never to have pitch more than an inning at most

When you're pitching, there's a blue "CFD" bar for confidence and a green "ENG" bar for energy. PAY ATTENTION TO THOSE. That is what makes or breaks your pitching in this game.
Every pitcher's green energy bar will shrink with each pitch thrown. You can't help that. Depending on their stamina attribute is what makes them throw more or less pitches before getting tired. When that green bar is at 30%, you need to seriously consider taking them out. Starters will have higher stamina than relievers. Obviously. That's why they're starters. You should be able to get about 6 innings out of your starter before he gets tired. If your starter is full of green bar energy but is getting shelled and allowed something crazy like 5 runs in 2 innings, then his confidence meter is probably very low. If your starter's confidence meter is below 50%, take him out and put in a reliever. Don't hesitate to do it. This game loves nothing more then to take advantage of that kind of stuff. Also, when you're pitching, you know how you select your pitch with X,O, Triangle, Square, or R1? Underneath the pitch type is a blue bar. That is how confident your pitcher is with that pitch and is tied to his big confidence meter overall. So as the game progresses, a pitch may become better or worse depending on how well it's working and how often it's being thrown. If you keep throwing a certain pitch and the other team is constantly hitting it, the confidence of that pitch and the confidence over all will go down. It will also become difficult to use other pitches because the other team will assume you won't throw it since it's not really working. And if you DO decide to throw it, it will most likely be a hit or home run BECAUSE it isn't working. I like to throw my weakest pitches against the weakest batters to give the pitches a chance to improve with very little risk. (Also, warm up the relievers before you put them in. Pause the game, go to bullpen. LRP is your "long relief" pitchers, guys who are built to throw 4+ innings. MRP is "middle relief", about an inning or two. SU can sometimes contain a "specialist" like a lefty specialist or a submariner but it is normally your "setup" guy who comes in in the 8th inning and sets up your CP "closer" for the save. A closer earns a save if you are winning by no more than 3 runs and he ends the final inning. Selecting "warm up" does just that. It warms them up with intent to put them in asap. "Stretch and Toss" means they're casually doing their thing but won't overexert themselves until you tell them it's go time. Ready and waiting means that they are ready and waiting to go in. How quickly they warm up depends on the pitches thrown. A good strategy is to warm up a pitcher, back out to the menu before that, and select "mound visit". The coach visits the pitcher on the mound to chat about strategy or what have you and that should give enough time for the reliever to get warm if you want to put him in.) |

BUMP 12: The Show
I'd got the hang of the confidence/energy stuff, the bullpen and mound stuff but the rest of that is gr8
do you know what the little grids inside the strike zone represent? Sometimes there are blue and red bits inside there, my guess was something to do with likelihood of a certain batter making contact etc when pitched there but no idea in reality |

Also, which pitching mode are you using? I like pulse. A lot of people like meter. Analog is weird/different but not great for beginners. You should also be using timing for batting too. Not analog.

yeah, using pulse pitching. Haven't even tried the meter thing. The other option (just aim and press) was no fun/no challenge to it. And yeah, using timing for batting. I don't have too many problems making contact, I just chase a lot of really dumb pitches, leave some that are pretty much served on a plate and so on. Ground out a lot, probably give up too many double plays also

Do you guess pitches? When guessed correctly, it helps a lot with hitting the ball well.

often enough I think, yeah. Usually on most first pitches, tend to try and leave it if it's not heading in that direction and hope for a ball since apparently the negative effects of swinging on an incorrectly guessed pitch aren't good. Not really guessed a pitch, got it right and fucking spanked it yet tho, like base hits at best.
