Jeff Jarrett did have a hell of a run with hilarious shit during that time. The kids dancing to his theme in their living room, the MMA challenges, the whole Mexican Champion deal, etc. Jeff Jarrett is good and has had some awesome work, but he isn't someone I'd consider a legitimate "main event/top tier I have to pay to see him work" superstar like I said earlier. In a lot of ways, he is like a redneck Christian...or is Christian a Canadian Jeff Jarrett with more high spots?

To clarify, I think Jeff Jarrett is/was good enough to have a token title run or two but his run in WCW and especially in TNA were ridiculous.

Jeff Jarrett is the kind of guy who you kinda "stumble upon" on tv. Meaning, you don't tune in to watch him, but when he comes on, he can have a good match.
In the 90's, for some time, Razor Ramon (Scott Hall) was the guy WWF used to kinda "gauge" if a guy had what it took to go up to the main event scene, where guys like Bret Hart and Diesel (Kevin Nash) resided. When it came Jeff Jarrett's turn to see what he had, he had a good feud with Razor, even became Intercontinental Champion, but never made it to the top, to the main event scene. But he got his chance in 1995. Back then (and for a couple more years after), the guy who became Intercontinental Champion more often than not was able to then go up and wrestler for the WWF Title, and guys who were former IC Champions, like Bret Hart, Diesel, HBK, Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H (just to name a few) eventually won the big one. But Jarrett never did. |

So he wasn't on the level of those guys, what's your point? Not many people are on that level.

You're making my point for me.
He's not on the level with any of those guys. |

And what's your point? Pretty much nobody currenty in WWE bar Cena is on the same level of those mentioned.

So your entire point is that Jeff Jarrett isn't one of the all time top level greats then? Is that it? That's your entire input into this discussion?

Always had a soft spot for Jarrett. Was a fan of him and Owen, and I enjoyed his wcw run.

Well, to be fair, Jeff has done a little bit better since taking a hiatus after the 2006 Bound For Glory. And business-wise, Jeff has been expanding TNA with Ring Ka King in India and possibly forming another promotion somewhere in South America.

Never a fan of him, good midcarder, idk why the hell they pushed him as a main eventer in WCW, plus most of his matches was too repetitive.

As one of those people who are only good for getting their ass royally kicked, I give him kudos for that at least. The night Austin stunned him twice was well worth the tv time!

didn't jarrett have quite the ego though where he did think he was top shelf liquor? his first WWF gimmick sucked, his first wcw run sucked, his attire with sunglasses and a country guitar were oil and water. slapnuts was about the only credible thing he ever came up with.

I enjoyed him more often than not, he put on decent matches and could cut a decent promo but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch his stuff, alot of his later TNA was gold though.

I'll say this, I prefered Jeff Jarrett in WCW 2000 rather than another Hulk Hogan vs Ric Flair match. I think Jarrett is solid, and is easily hateable as a heel. I loved his feud in 2006 with Sting, which lead to honestly one of my favorite matches of all time

LOL at the Muties claiming Jarrett as champ killed wCw. That company was dead before he even debuted.
And Keith looking like a master debater in this thread. |

I think if Jarrett retired after wCw people wouldnt have some much "shit" to say about him.
But he started his own company, made himself a HHH like master of the world for 4 years and it flopped. People always wanted TNA to take off and be a threat to the WWE, and Jarrett was the man there. When it failed, they put it all on him, and now talk "ALL KINDS OF SHIT" about him. Jarrett was a decent Heel in WCW during a time of a weak roster. Its hard to solidy yourself in that sinking ship. I dont remember anyone dogging him as a Main eventer in wCw since he was a "Mid Carder in the WWE". Flip that around the other way, and wCw mid carder Chris Jericho became the first Undisputed champion. |

I think Jeff Jarrett has matured quite a bit since the 2006 Bound For Glory match with Sting, taking time off. Since then, he hasn't been on a main event or a World title match on PPV or TV very often since. Seems like he has voluntarily stepped back a bit, going down the card a little, kinda like Giant Baba did.

While on the subject, if I had to pick a non-wrestling television program writer to compare to Russo, I would choose Chris Carter because he wrote the X-Files to have hotshot booking which never really tied together much in the end. The X-Files claimed to have a series-long arc, but most of it was just the angle of the week, rarely having coherence even within a season. It reminds me of how Russo would launch into angles without any build-up or long-term repercussions. The overuse of vacating titles as an excuse to have tournaments, esp. the "reboot," reminded me of too many cooks in the franchise, yet it was all from one guy! |

No, because he started to step down the card a little when he returned in 2007.

Panda completely bought out TNA from Jarrett in 2009, so I imagine he saw that coming down the pike.

Jeff Jarrett knows he will never be able to go to WWE because he held Vince McMahon up for money when he left in 99, so Jarrett had to make sure he secured a spot in the good graces of TNA and everyone who could potentially end up being his boss.

I enjoyed him, he was a very good heel. Especially when he started putting various women in his figure four.

Side note, even if he didn't hold up the WWE for money in 99 I can't see him going back to the WWE now after starting a rival company. Pretty much because he's no "Eric Bischoff" |
