Now Ron Artest is saying it was self defense. Don't get me wrong or anything, I agree with what Ron did cause anyone that throws anything at anyone is going to get what is coming to him. But to say that it was self-defense is stupid. He didn't HAVE to go up there. And a cup of beer is certainly not lethal.

LMAO YESSSSSS THAT WAS THE GREATEST SHIT I HAVE EVER SEEN.
LOL when that fucking fucking fucking scumbag piece of garbage fan came down and tried to get in Artest's face and Artest fucking snuffed the shit out of him. Classic. http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/...videos=1927343 FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT. |

I thought the announcer said that Artest knew who was the one that threw the beer and bottle at him and went after him.

First off, i was watching the game on ESPN and IMO Ron Artest was laying on his back looking up and didn't even see who threw the beer at him. He then went up into the stands and BLINDLY picks a fight with a fan who he "THINKS" threw the beer. Under no circumstance should a player/athelete go into the stands no matter what the situation. As for the fans who went on the court, they got what they deserved. If i was a fan in the stands and an athelete came at me, i would defend myself (who wouldn't), even moreso if i had my children with me. It will be interesting to see how this sort's out, but IMO it's up to the athelete to be above the fan's, unless of course the fan's come on the court or physically provoke an athelete first (i'm talking about a punch or shove not throwing a beer).

Well, I've just seen it being shown over an dover on ESPN. And what I think Artest did, was got to the guy that was still taunting him as he head toward the fans. Plus he probably saw the guy walked off as he sat up, so assumed it was him.

Ok Since I'm the resident Piston fan I'm assuming you guys want my opinion.
First of all shame on everyone of those fans that were doing that shit. Absolutely uncalled for. The biggest thing ESPN talked about was that there were little kids in the stands crying and all that. With all the great things that happened in the NBA last night (Wade's FG as time expired, Kobe's Triple Double) ESPN has to devote their entire show to this. Stephen A Smith said it perfectly "It does not matter what happens, your a professional athlete, you need to be higher above this." Look, I know Artest is a hot head and if I had been in his situation I probably would have done the same thing, and in a way no matter how much I hate Artest, he had a minor right to get in those stands. But Stephen Jackson needs to be suspended, minimum, 10 games. He could have gone into the stands and got Artest out, but he decided to hit a fan. Kinda shitty on his part. The lawsuits that are going to come out of this thing are going to be sick. Artest better hope his record company takes off because he is about to get smacked with lawsuits. Stephen Jackson as well. Getting back to the fans, I have never been more disapointed with a group of people in my life. Getting on the court was ridiculous. But where that is said, Artest should not have been on the Announce table. That was what was pissing off the Detroit fans, because he is acting like a hot shot after causing that altercation. He's trying to be a smart ass. That's just saying, "Hey attack me". Artest attacking the fan that first came on the court was ridiculous. Artest could have walked away but no. Why do that. Then Jermaine O Neal's attack on the fan was ridiculous as well. In Conclusion, I'm not ashamed to be a Pistons fan, I'm ashamed to being a fan with all those Pistons fans. The suspensions are going to be sick, too. Prediction for suspensions Ben Wallace: 2 games. It looked like a hard foul but because it was unnecessary. 45.6 seconds left, and your not going to win a basketball game so why foul him. Artest did not even make an attempt for the ball. Regardless, Wallace is a lot more calmer than that, and it was just that the Pistons were losing so bad that was causing him to get upset. Remember, Wallace is still getting over the death of his brother. Ron Artest: 12-15 games. I've said all I'm going to say on Artest. Nothing more needs to be said. Stephen Jackson: 10-15 games. He is an idiot for jumping into the stands and going after fans, not helping Artest. Fred Jones: 4-6 games. He jumped into the stands and was trying to fight as well. Jermaine O neal: 5-10 games. For that single sucker punch on the fan that was on the court. O neal did not have to do that. Rasheed Wallace: 1-2 games for possibly jumping into the stands. I'm not ganging up on Pacers at all. Do not even say that. I'm just saying what needs to be said. Don't say I'm being biased towards my team either. I realize that it was my hometown of fans that were doing this. But I can't exactly say that the Pistons would have been doing this had it been in Indiana. The fans went after the wrong guy. Breakdown: 50% the fans fault 10% Wallace's fault 40% The Pacer's (not just Artest) fault I'm going to a wedding all day today, but I will argue every point that is made after I get home tonight. But I just want to say that I am not ashamed of the Pistons, just the group of fans I am now associated with. |

I 100% agree with Artest that it was self-defense. What is he just going to continue laying there as someone else could of thrown something at him? He did what anybody else would of done under those circumtances. I mean people were throwing chairs for god sakes. IMO, Artest should get nothing. It was assault and he acted to defend himself.
Wallace was totally out of line there. He should get some games DEF. Jackson shouldn't of been in the stands cause nothing was thrown at him, but he was just helping his teamate take on a couple of fans. O'Neil fucked that dude up

This is gonna be talked about for weeks, I really think everyone is over reacting. A few dickbag fans had to ruin it for everyone, and they got what they deserved. I think the NBA should just try to brush this under the rug and move on. I personally don't think this will hurt in the NBA in anyway either.

Splaya, I somehow believe that you were that little fat kid that was crying cause his daddy went after Fred Jones.
Everyone's saying they should be higher than that and above attacking fans. Look, fans heckle like hell. That is all fine and dandy. But when they try to get physically involved, no, can't do it. I've actually had something similar happen to me at a high school game, and while it's not the same (nowhere close actually), I can say that I would have done the same thing (and I've done the same thing in said situation). Stephen Jackson would be the only guy I would look at suspending for more than a few games. While what he did to the one fan in the crowd was in defense for his teamate, he was hopping around wanting to fight and just acting like a moron, but it was slightly entertaining. Anyone see him back down from Sheed and Ben and then try to go after...Lindsey Hunter? LOL Hunter is an old man and Jackson's hopping around and taking his jersey off wanting to fight him. Pussy Artest is a smart guy. He wasn't going to mess with Big Ben. Would anyone want to mess with Ben? Don't think ao. As far as Artest being out of line. Hey, he was trying to stay out of it. Laying on the press box, yeah, a little much, but the old Artest would have been throwing punches at Pistons players and causing all kinds of hell. But, LOL @ Stephen Jackson and JNeil. Didn't know they could throw a punch like that. |

I'll preface this by saying I'm a Pistons fan, but I'm going to say this with as little bias as I possibly can.
How things should have gone: Artest fouls Wallace harder than necessary for the lead the Pacers had and the amount of time left. Wallace shoves back, and everyone gets separated. Artest goes and lays down on the table like a jackass. Idiot fan throws beer on Artest. Idiot fan is escorted out of arena. The end. You can't tell me that what Artest did was self-defense. When Yankee fans were throwing shit onto the field during the ALCS, did Ortiz go up into the crowd and start randomly punching out fans in pinstripes? No. The police came out, and the troublemakers were dealt with. Artest went waaaaaaaaaaaay over the line last night. You get up, you point out the fan that threw the beer (he was wrong about who threw it anyway. He punched out the wrong guy), and let security and the Auburn Hills Police Department handle things. That said, the fans that were throwing punches crossed the line, too. I can understand trying to hold him back to protect the fan who happened to be sitting close to the source of the beer, but you don't start punching somebody in the back of the head. You hold his arms back and let somebody with some authority take charge. Jackson went too far. Like someone said, it would have been all right if he had just gone up to pull Artest out of the crowd, but when he starts throwing haymakers, of course it's going to escalate. The fans dumping shit on the Pacers as they went back to their locker room was uncalled for, too. Yes, emotions were running high, but that's still a jackass thing to do. The one Pacer-on-fan bit of violence that I feel is absolutely, totally acceptable is the fan that got punked out when he got onto the court. That was self-defense. This was an ugly situation, and, yes, the Pistons started it, but the riot is Ron Artest's fault. So you got beer thrown on you. Big fucking deal. Maybe if you'd gone to your bench like a normal player, you wouldn't have pissed off that fan. Granted, the fan shouldn't have thrown his beer, but there is absolutely no fucking reason why you get up and enter the crowd. I hope Artest and Jackson miss weeks of basketball for this. Wallace should miss a couple of games for starting the on-court fight. If the fan that threw the beer is a season-ticket holder, he shouldn't be anymore. Anyway, that's my opinion on all this. |

I know your a Pistons fan and all, but how that was a "hard" foul I will never see. I've seen and been a part of many other fouls that were 50x worse then that. The ref even said to Artest that it wasn't a flagrant or a Tech. Wallace just about defined the term "overreaction" with that.
If you call Artest a jackass, you have to call Wallace one as well. And Artest didn't just get hit with beer, he got hit with ice as well. I don't know how someone is suppossed to just sit there and be a human target. I know walking away would be the right thing to do, but if some punk fan thinks he's cool by throwing something on me, he's not getting away with it. And that's probably the same way Artest felt. |

The hardness of the foul is far from the point, though. Yes, Wallace overreacted. And, yes, it was a jackass thing to do. Although, to be fair, this is the first time I can recall Wallace doing something this outrageous. Artest on the other hand...
But I don't care if there was semen in the cup, you don't go into the crowd. That's what security is there for. You go to the locker room and take a shower and suit up to play tomorrow. And the "punk fan" wouldn't have gotten away with it. Like I said, that's why there's security at the arena. The fan crosses the line like that, he gets hauled away. His seatmates shouldn't have to worry about a 6'10" 246-pound man assaulting them. |

Okay, fair enough. Yeah, I think the security fucked up a little. If they were smart, they would have been around Artest right away to prevent him from doing anything stupid and to protect him from some rowdy fans.

" Man, there are going to be some lawsuits. You don't think some of those fans aren't going to want some NBA money? " — Suns guard Quentin Richardson, after seeing the brawl on TV
" Just think about what it takes for NBA players to go into a crowd. Sometimes fans get kind of out of hand, but it must have taken a lot for NBA players to go into a crowd and start a fight. " — Lakers forward Lamar Odom |

First of all let me say that i'm a Pacers fan and i'm about to be as biased as i can possibly be.
Wallace is a fucking jackass. Artest fouled him a little hard cause he didnt want him to make a easy bucket. Artest put his hand out to say my bad but Wallace wasnt having any of it cause he had already been planning to go off on Artest as soon as he crossed him wrong. Wallace new Artest was on a thin line and he conquered the oppurtunity to push Ron over the edge. Artest backed away and layed on the table where Reggie Miller held him down so that he would not do anything stupid. But Mr Wallace or as you call him " Big Ben "( I'll just call him Suspect 0) wasnt done. Instead of letting cooler heads prevaile he went the extra step and decided to throw things at Artest. ( The Towel!!!) At this point , drunk morons were in the process of guzzling down there 14th and 15th Blue Ribbons, thinking damn we got get involved in dis der old shibang! Moron number one see's Suspect 0 throw a towel at Artest. Moron number 1 proceeds chuck his beer at Artest thinking damn "Big Ben" did it.. We can too! Little did he know Artest is was crazy mother fucker and would come up there and wreck his shit . BTW i dont care if it was the wrong guy or not. I personally think it was the right guy because the other guy had his hands in his pockets like he didnt do anything. Also , Artest was staring right at them. I just saw the video and he clearly turned his head as if bracing him self for the cup cause he saw it coming and thrown. That being said the guy was celebrating and he got fucked up. And Artest turned around and decked the other guy too, and Jackson came up there and dotted that fuck that threw coke in Artest's face. Jermain and Artest decking those fat fucks who came on the court flexing up. All and all i'd say Detroit got knocked the Fuck out! Plus you lost the game by 15 points. Dont blame Indiana. Blame "Big Ben". Predictions on suspensions Artest : 2 games Jackson : 5 games O'neal: 1 games Wallace: 10 games ( as one of your sports writers said on espn. " 5 for starting the fight and instegating it the whole time. 5 for the moronic Detroit fans ) biased bishes |

..Artest is a thug. He got hit by a plastic beer cup..this whole melee gets started due to a fucking beer cup. Now sure, the fans have no right to throw anything at the players or anyone else for that matter, but the fan would have been caught and barred from the building or something thereafter. Artest was trying to promote his street cred thuggery, probably due to his rap album and shit. This guy is brainless, and you know many of the trash that come from queensbridge are exactly that. Him and his buddy are thugs, trying to be macho. mean give me a break, you're a pro, act like one. You're gonna get all furious over that? These guys douse themselves with water and shit..the fan was like her ron, "cool off"..lol.
But yeah, he acted totally immature in that way, and the dumbass fucker couldnt even get the right guy who actually threw the cup. Which proves he was just looking for some sort of trouble and attention. When you see old ladies trampled on the ground, and small kids crying and shit just cuz they came to see a basketball game, it tells you something. Also this further proves that human beings on a whole are fucked and pretty over-rated intelligence wise when these sorts of things happen. We all hate war and shit but we dont mind seeing people beat the shit out of other people. And for dumb reasons to boot. |
