I think Benoit is now the most Drafted Superstar in the WWE.

Actually i think this is a good move. Seeming as Cena is no longer on Smackdown i see some potential for Benoit, Or maybe im just wishing :/

Its a huge drop in star power for SD.

In order for this to turn out well, the remaining 4 picks have to be majorly in favour of SD.

If say Batista, Orton and HBK all end up on SD, then its all good, and say only one other top guy from SD comes to RAW, then that should help.

The one good thing this does for SD is it gives them more depth wrestling wise, which will help the quality of their shows.

But in a time when they need to drive viewers to a tough night for TV, they really need to focus on getting people the fans see as stars on that show. Losing Cena wont help that at all.

I'm really liking this draft so far. The WWE have realised that SmackDown! is hurting right now, and that it won't get better anytime soon, so instead of shipping all their top names, they're gathering them on a single show (RAW) to give them a live stage, but instead of completely abandoning SmackDown!, they're putting all their "directionless" technical wrestlers on their to get them exposure and to get "smart marks" to tune in to get behind guys like Angle and Benoit.

I personally think this is quite a brilliant move by the WWE. As long as they don't screw this up by moving Cena back to SmackDown!, everything should be good, and this draft might get people re-interested in the product and boost the interest level in next year's draft (if there is one). The SmackDown! writing team (when lead by Heyman) have done a lot more with a lot less than what they have right now, so I think everything will turn out pretty good. Shelton Benjamin, Randy Orton, Rob Conway & Shawn Michaels are the other guys I'd like to see shipped over to SmackDown! in the coming weeks. The Big Show & Heidenreich going to RAW wouldn't be bad moves, either. Have Garrison Cade return to SmackDown! when they're ready to bring him up again, and have Tajiri piss off Eric Bischoff so he gets "fired" and shows up on SmackDown!. Then have William Regal ask Bischoff to trade him to SmackDown! so he can persue personal vengeance against Tajiri.

So on RAW, you can have some kind of tournament with Triple H, Batista, Edge, Christian, John Cena, Muhammad Hassan, The Big Show & Chris Jericho battling it out to become the "WWE Champion" and on SmackDown! you have a feud going on between William Regal and Tajiri/Chris Benoit, Eddie/Rey cont, Angle/Tazz (if Tazz can still go), The Undertaker for special guets appearances, Booker T doing something with Carlito Caribbean Cool and Matt Morgan, with Shelton Benjamin and Orlando Jordan having a feud over the IC Title/US Title, which becomes the "World Championship", and is held by Shelton Benjamin.

If you add CM Punk, Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson to SmackDown!, it definately wouldn't be the weaker show from a wrestling standpoint.

Wow, guess who sent Benoit to SmackDown?
from wrestling-edge.com

As far as the 'other' name who was drafted to SmackDown! (read the SmackDown! spoiler report for more), he was notified on Monday night backstage at RAW by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and was asked to keep it to himself. He did not arrive to the SmackDown! tapings until very shortly before the show was taped and was kept out of the way of all the guys in the back.

Here's an idea...

Edge gets drafted but uses his Money in the Bank title shot to win the World Title after the HIAC at Vengeance...thus SD! gets a top belt back!

Then we have...

Angle, Guerrero, Benoit plus possibilities of Edge, Xtian, Jericho, Shelton, role on the Glory dies days of SD! once again!

Benoit on Smackdown is great. He's awesome, but this is not really a shocker.

Holy shit! I never actually pictured that happening. That might actually work out if they do it right.

At Vengeance, we have Batista vs. Triple H in the Hell in a Cell Match and Edge vs. Kane confirmed whether or not they are all on the same brand next year. Kane goes over Edge (because Kane needs some kind of boost) and Batista goingover Triple H would be how I'd book it.

Anyway, after Batista defeats Triple H, Edge runs in and cashes in his Money in the Bank Title Shot, and promptly defeats Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship, taking the belt to SmackDown!.

You'd then have Edge, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Booker T, Rob Conway, Shawn Michaels, William Regal, Orlando Jordan, JBL & Charlie Haas as top contenders, and that isn't that bad.

That would be a pretty ingenius idea if you ask me.

But now that we've guessed it, they can't possibly use it, can they? After all... it's a good idea.

I personally hope the WWE does something completely different, and they have the World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Championship as seperate singles titles on RAW, and the Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship unified on SmackDown!.

That's three World Championships between the brands, and that makes events like the Royal Rumble even more interesting. And now Triple H can even be in title contention while NOT handicapping other talent. On RAW right now, you can just throw Batista, Triple H, John Cena, Kane, Edge & Christian into an Elimination Chamber, and it will sell tickets. That's a pretty good main event scene. If you then bring in The Big Show, and have Chris Jericho remain on RAW, there's enough feuds to sustain both World Championships on RAw until next year.

With two World Championships on one brand, it also allows the WWE to toggle between main storylines, while having the other title build up longetivity with a Champion. I ca easily picture Edge winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Vengeance with his Money in the Bank Title Shot, but since he was pinned by Kane earlier that night, he instantly has another contender on top of Batista. At Summerslam, that's a pretty good Triple Threat for the biggest, goldest belt in the industry. You also have John Cena vs. Triple H, which keeps Triple H in the main event, but not imposing Edge, or etc. Triple H and Edge walk out with the titles that night, and at Unforgiven we have Edge vs. Kane in a gimmick match, where Edge again retains, and Triple H vs. John Cena vs. Christian vs. Batista vs. Chris Jericho vs. The Big Show in an Elimination Chamber for the WWE Championship, where Triple H retains the title again.

At Taboo Tuesday, the fans vote on a challenger for Triple H and a gimmick match for the feud-stopper between Edge and Kane (which has moved to the backseat to the WWE Championship for now). Edge and Triple H again retain, all the while a face is holding the World Championship on SmackDown!, having good matches every week or so.

At Survivor Series, Triple H, the World Tag Team Champions and a superstar in contention for the World Heavyweight Championship face off against John Cena, challengers for the World Tag Team Championship, and a contender for the World Heavyweight Championship in a Survivor Series Elimination Match. If John Cena's team wins, John Cena is the WWE Champion, the tag team becomes World Tag Team Champions, and the contender for the WHC gets a title shot at New Year's Revolution for the WHC. If Triple H's team wins, the Champions retain, and the challenger for the WHC gets a title shot. This match is below the World Heavyweight Championship match, and SmackDown!'s World Title match. John Cena's team wins, and we ge a major face victory in the third match down from the top.

I suppose the WWE could move the World Heavyweight Championship to SmackDown!, and have the US Title unified with it, and have the IC Title remain on SmackDown!. Either way, I think it would make far more opportunities for wrestlers, either to showcase their skills on SmackDown! for the "wrestling" Championship, or on RAW where they have a double-shot at really hitting the main event scene.

After seeing Benoit on Smackdown last night, I have to say that the trades thus part have been great from the standpoint of future storylines.

Cena will definitely mesh well on Raw, with potential feuds against Christian, Orton, Edge, Flair, HHH, and even Batista (pending a heel turn).

And Benoit will be used much better on Smackdown. You know you want to see Benoit take a swing at Eddie of Angle. Also, an Benoit/JBL feud may be rather entertaining.

How I would have squirmed like a school girl if when Benoit was getting in JBL's face he said something like ""What are you gunna do, huh? You so much as twitch Bradshaw, and I'll make you SQUEAL!!!!!!!!!". There's just something about the way Benoit says squeal that makes me want to see him kick ass. What would have been awesome was if Benoit had dropped a line like "Cena may have been able to make you quit with a metal pipe, but I'll make you quit with my bare hands...and if you, uh, disagree Bradshaw, PROVE ME WRONG!". Benoit always referring to JBL as Bradshaw would be an interesting character quirp as well.

I like the way Benoit's ended up on SmackDown!, because now he's the top face there, and we have a VERY good chance of seeing Benoit as World Champion again. The WWE have given Benoit 2005 as well as 2004 to become a top figurehead of the WWE, and I think if they give him matches with Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, Charlie Haas, etc. he will make the most of it.
