1. When did you forget how to spell?

2. Mark Cuban won't be trading Dirk for Pierce any time soon.

3. Pierce is the only player who can take over a game? Ever heard of Kobe Bryant? Tracy McGrady?

The hot rumor out here is the Lakers doing a ssign and trade that would send Butler to the Wiz for Kwame. Not sur ewhat to think. I like the idea of collecting big young lpayers with potential, and I like the idea of moving Odom back to SF, but I don't like all the iffy characters on the roster. We're like the Portland Trailblazers South...lotta talented guys who don't really play hard, one egomaniacal primadonna, and oh yeah, Phil wants to add Scottie Pippen to his coaching staff.

Cuz no one embodies "leadership" like Pipper.

I don't like the trade really for either team. I would have liked the Knicks trade, with the Wiz getting Q, better. The Wizards likely won't be very good this year, because Caron is a downgrade from Atkins big time. I liked Chucky on the Lakers last year, he hit a tonn of three's. I don't know why they were so adamant about trading him.

Anyway, by making this trade it is clear that the Lakers are going to have a drastic offseason. They basically don't have a point guard now, and putting faith in Kwame in a market like LA isn't something to bet a lot of money on. So I'd expect LA to go after another big man of some sort as well as a point guard. Sam Cassell? TAKE HIM PLEASE!

Worst.

Trade.

Ever.

If you're doing that so Odom goes to SF, why not trade Odom instead? Butler was on fire late last season and he will continue to rise in stock. Kwame, on the other hand, couldn't take over a kindergartener's desk, much less a game. And we're giving TWO people for him? Including out only point guard?

Mitch Kupchak's lost his mind. Odom can't play in LA for his life. Butler is a rising star and will be a primary weapon if he goes to DC next year.

And we get... Kwame Brown.

WHAT THE HELL?????

:foc: Mitch. What's next... sign and trade for Adonyl Foyle?

Bring Jerry West back.

Doesn't Kobe technically play SF? Or has he always been a shooting guard?

Anyway, Odom will never be great in LA, agreed. It seems like they should have got somebody better. PJ Brown, Jamal Magliore, Michael Olowokandi

I still have faith that Kwame might be a legitimate NBA player in his career, he's only like 22 after all, but the Lakers need more of a veteran.

haha, fuckin Lakers . I don't like the trade at all either. I too like Caron over Odom, but I guess Phil has his likes and dislikes on players. I mean babyhands Kwame has been a bust for the time he's been around..although in his defense he will be in his 5th year out of highschool next year...and I don't believe even Jermain O'neal has had numbers close to Kwame's. So there's still a chance for Kwame to devolop into a great player...

The reason why I liked this deal was that we dumped Atkins. People who defend him were obviously not watching a lot of Lakers games. Hes not a point guard in the sense that he, y'know, passes the ball, and he needs to take waaaaay too many shots to have any impact on the game. And for every three he hits, he also allows 4 or 5 easy baskets a night. Ihated him out there on the floor. He had nice stats. But anyone with NBA knowledge knows stats lie.

Like I said, this isn't a great trade. Physically, its not a bad idea. But this is now officially a team full of headcases, led by a guy that has a knack for rubbing people the wrong way.

The Lakers moves are not for the present but for the future. Ironic since Phil is signed on for only 3 years.

Atkins was not going to be a main guy on the Lakers anyway since Phil hates small guards so he was expendable.

Caron is a great player but he has only 1 year left on his contract. Lakers had no intention of re-signing him to begin with since Odom's contract is huge and he is more comfortable at the 3 than the 4. Therefore, that is why Caron was the trade bait: cause he's good and doesn't have a bad contract. Who the hell would take Odom's mess?

Kwame is no Shaq. But... I like Mitch's guts. Basically, this is a 2 year experiment with Kwame. If he works out, it'll be amazing. But if he doesn't, they drop him on the 3rd year and hope for free agent lightning to strike in the year 2007 when Yao and Amare become available(or maybe 2008 with Lebron).

As for the Lakers fans out there, I don't know if this will make the Lakers any where close to a playoff team, but this is the best they can do at this point to look towards the future. If they get a good pg like Antonio Daniels, I believe they have a shot if they are healthy. Bynum is getting great reviews in Summer League and maybe he can start in the near future... or maybe I'm just dreaming..

Marshall by the Cavs could work out, but it could be a complete flop as well.

Didn't I see Shareef signed somewhere today?

Also, I think the Rockets will be one of the top two teams in the West this year. They got Stromile Swift now, who can share time with Howard. After last season I gained a lot of respect for T-Mac and I think he will win a championship in his career.

I like the signing. He's a big body who can rebound and has a nice outside shot. Perfect complimentary player.

And I think the Shareef thing is that there's a deal in place for the Blazaers to do a sign and trade for Shareef with the Nets. At least thats what espn.com is reporting.

I have no idea why, but I do know that the Pistons just hired Flip Saunders to be their head coach. But this is typical Larry Brown, he never stays in one spot for a long period of time; a vagabond coach, if you will.

Keyon Dooling said he agreed to terms Friday on a three-year deal believed to be worth nearly $10 million with Orlando, where he'll probably have a chance to become the Magic's starting point guard.

The Milwaukee Bucks continued the dramatic revamping of their roster Friday night, adding guard-forward Bobby Simmons, an unrestricted free agent from the Los Angeles Clippers.

Cuttino Mobley, one of the NBA's most accurate outside shooters, will play for the Los Angeles Clippers next season, his agent said Thursday.

There's some of the latest stuffff

So, from what I'm reading, Suns trade JJ to the Hawks for Boris Diaw, two first-rounders as long as they aren't lottery, and 4.9 million.

I don't get the Suns logic in this offseason. They could potentially put out a competitive team on the court, but if it is it will be a completely different team then this years. They were able to dominate the regular season with their style, but I don't think they needed to go to this drastic of lengths to win in the playoffs. They had a system that worked for them, four guys who can shoot the three and Amare with room to be creative down low. Now their three point shooting has been basically cut in half, Amare has a new friend clogging the inside, and Marion is going back to SF where he stacks up statistics but doesn't win many games. They could have added the players to help on the defense without completely changing their team.

Bah, I hate the Spurs. Even though I can't say I think Finley would have helped the Wolves at all.

So do the Spurs still have Brent Barry, or is that Van Exel now? The only reason I would like to see them win again is because the Suns fucked around with their sweet team, the Wolves have no shot, and Robert Horry getting six would be unbelievable.

Apprentice does not have that much rep yet (10+)
I think Horry already has 6 right? 3 with Lakers, 2 with Rockets and 1 last year. It would be lucky 7.

I think they still have Brent but since they got Finley, they'll probably pass on Devin Brown. He'll be a good young pickup for someone who needs athleticism.

You'd think Barry might be trade bait with the signing of Finley. Hopefully he is and the Nuggs trade for him.

I'd almost think Van Exel would be a better guy for the Nuggets. I agree though, they can't have Parker-Van Exel-Barry at PG and Ginobili-Finley and I think they have another good SG too. Barry would probably be the odd man out here.

The Bulls just traded Curry and Antonio Davis for Tim Thomas, Michael Sweetney, and somebody else.

Just when there was some potential over there in ChiTown they take on Tim Thomas.

Anyway, I was looking at some depth charts today and I think the Grizzlies could be really good. They have a very solid backcourt that includes Damon Staudemire, Bobby Jackson, Mike Miller, Shane Battier, and Eddie Jones. Then you add Pau, Cardinal, Warrick, and Wright.

Raptors traded Alston to Houston for Mike James.

Raptors are going to be awful this year so I'm happy to see him go even though he was a decent player. The guy's contract was way too big and he was a jerk.
