Iif you saw Marty Jannetty in that firing-spree list, your eyes do not deceieve you. He was brought back for two matches, one in a tag with Shawn Michaels on RAW, and another on the following SmackDown! against Kurt Angle, because at the time (just before WM 21), Angle was trying to show up Shawn Michaels, whom he was facing at WM 21, so he brought in his old tag partner.
Oh, on that note, the next week Kurt came out to HBK's theme along with Sensational Sherri ( ![]() After, while Kurt was injured (I think), he held a Kurt Angle Invitational against "hometown heroes" where the winner would get his gold medal (the real one) if he could simply last 3 minutes with Angle. The hometown heroes were usually indy wrestlers from that area, except for the end of the Invitationals, where the last three were as follows: (1) Matt Stryker, some teacher that got fired for skipping work to go to wrestling shows/practice, came on and lost to Angle with ONE SECOND remaining. The following week, he called himself Matt Martel, but Kurt saw through it and beat it with like 20 seconds left. Then, the next week, Eugene (the mentally retarded wrestler) REVERSED the ankle lock, which usually beat the other guys, and kicked Angle out of the ring, lasting until the time expired, and won the gold medals. This was this past Monday, so we're waiting on what'll happen next. Also, as was stated above, the Women's wrestling division is now pretty much dead. Trish Stratus is out with an injury and technically holds the title, although it's meaningless now. The women that are left are: Torrie Wilson, Melina (the last "M" in MNM, see below), Stacy Keibler, Christy Hemme (she's training to be a wrestler apparently), Lita, and Victoria (who reverted back to her psycho chick gimmick recently). That's it. The new faces: MNM - A new tag team, stands for Mercury Nitro Melina. Joey Mercury, Johnny Nitro (who was on Tough Enough III I believe), and Melina, their valet. The Heart Throbs - A tag team that, while on dark matches and in OVW, had a gimmick similar to that of Billy & Chuck, as "The Heart Breakers". Now, as the Throbs, they seem to be more like the guys from Night At The Roxbury, where they try to hit on chicks (only Lilian after her breakup with Viscera so far) and fail. Not much from these two. Carlito Caribbean Cool - Now just Carlito, he has his own segment on RAW called Carlito's Cabana, where he interviews people. He's a heel, but I personally love him. He's hilarious, spitting apples at people's faces when they "don't want to be cool". His intro vignettes were pretty humorous, but his backstages promos and segments are hilarious. His first match in the WWE, on SD!, was against John Cena for the I/C Title (I think), which was lost back to him, then regained again (I think). Matt Morgan was around for awhile, first as a blond who-cares-about-him wrestler, then as a stuttering big guy with a beard. Never really went anywhere (he was on Tough Enough II I believe) and got released recently. The Hurricane got a sidekck in Rosey, who used to be part of a tag team called Three Minute Warning. 3MW was called to the ring by Bischoff every time somebody's promo went over 3 minutes. Jamal, the other guy, left eventually, and Rosey became a S.H.I.T. (Super Hero In Training). I swear it's the truth. Simon Dean made his debut as a RAW advertising sponsor, for his "Simon System", a weight loss dietary supplement designed to help people lose weight...your typical anti-fat-people gimmick. He used to be Nova in ECW. Jon Heidenreich, now just Heidenreich, was introduced by Paul Heyman as a big threat, and soon after he was discovered to have little talent, was transformed into a fun-loving guy who reads poetry (called Disaster-pieces) and at one point brought kids to the ring to be his "friend". Now he just wants other wrestlers to be his friends, and anybody he faces on RAW apparently didn't want to be his friend (seriously). Chris Masters is a big hoss that Vince probably creamed himself over while hiring him. He first came out and stiffed Steven Richards so bad he broke his nose with a stiff Polish Hammer. Now he does "Masterlock Challenges", in which he offers up money (upped every week, now at $12,000 I believe) to anyone who can break his Masterlock, which is just a full nelson. Val Venis, Tajiri, and Rosey have tried but failed, although the challenge was initially open to fans. Big Show is now the guy that thinks he can beat it, but Masters won't let him get near him and has halted the challenges for the time being. Shelton Benjamin, although not really new in the past 3 years, is doing well for himself as a singles competitor. He was the I/C champ for awhile, untl Carlito beat him for it his first night on RAW (after being drafted from SD!). Stacy Keibler recently started running with Hurricane and Rosey, wearing a mask and calling herself Super-Stacy. Also, Theodore Long is now SmackDown!'s general manager, replacing Paul Heyman, who replaced Stephanie McMahon, etc. Bischoff is still RAW's GM, while Coach was temporary GM for a time (wasn't he? I might be mistaking it for an SvR storyline ![]() I don't know if this is recent as of 2002 or not, but Jericho also has his own RAW segment, called Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel, complete with a large widescreen plasma TV that gets lowered to the ring, calle the JeriTron 3000. ![]() WWE also recently began blurring the line between kayfabe and reality when they brought Matt Hardy back while still released from the company. They made his run-ins to look semi-realistic while security guards and trainers would nearly and legimately beat the crap out of him every time he'd interfere. The announcers wouldn't even talk while he made his appearances, addiing to the realism. He even stated on his web site (which allegedly got him fired in the first place) that he was doing this on his own, not under contract. Just recently, he admitted that it's all a work. I forgot when La Resistance and Rob Conway made their debuts, but ask us if they're new to you. The ECW One Night Stand PPV in June was quite simply amazing. Kayfabe was broken, promos were cut, and, of course, WWE interfered. JBL and Kurt Angle led their anti-ECW teams to the PPV (which, under storyline, was funded by Vince, since he funded the original ECW as well) and interfered physically only toward the end. RVD and Heyman cut the best promos of the night. Joey Styles and Mick Foley were the commentators and everybody who was in the ECW and was still under WWE contract appeared in their original gimmicks. For example, Simon Dean wrestled as Nova in the bWo, and Steven Richards reverted to his bWo character as well (Big Stevie Cool) and stopped being serious. Amusingly enough, Mike Bucci currently plays both Simon Dean and Nova on WWE programming, both on SmackDown! but in separate segments. John Cena and Batista, two relatively new guys, are now the top champs (John Cena = WWE, Batista = World Heavyweight). A LOT of the guys in WWE right now are from OVW, by the way. That's all I can think of for now. ![]() |

Also, about the Hassan situation lately...
Hassan, as explained above, is a heel, complaining about prejudice since events like 9/11 took place, against his people (Arab-Americans, although Mark Copani is actually Italian-American himself). His manager, Khosrow Daivari, wrestled a few times, but is mainly a manager and usually speaks Farsi after Hassan rants during his promos. (He's been known to speak English on the show as well.) Three weeks ago, Hassan called upon six masked guys to help him beat the Undertaker in a grudge match (Taker caused Hassan to be unofficially counted out from a six-man match for what was going to be a SmackDown! title, because both World titles were drafted to RAW at the time...Batista was drafted to SD! thereafter, making a SD! Title unnecessary). Anyway, an event occured on Wednesday/Thursday morning in London, as you well know, that made people very pissed off, although the segment was taped on Tuesday. People called Hassan a terrorist, when the guys under the masks were actually white and were simply assumed to be Arabs. UPN, who initially let the segment air, told WWE that they didn't want Hassan to be on SmackDown! anymore, so WWE.com aired a promo (for the site only, not on TV) where Hassan came out to the crowd and called them all hypocrits for believing his associates were terrorists and Arabian, when they simply helped him beat Taker. He made a lot of sense to the smark community, but not to the general mark audience, who began chanting USA! against him, after he reiterated that he was an American! This from the fans who chanted USA! at a Bret Hart/Yokozuna match, or a match full of Canadians and French-Canadians. Anyway, WWE "killed off" his character, so to speak, at the Great American bash, when Taker last-ride'd him through the entrance stage to the concrete floor beneath (a floor panel was moved by Taker beforehand for this spot). Long then put up a promo on WWE.com saying that Hassan can go to hell (for what, I'm still not certain), or to RAW for all he cares. Since UPN only deals with SmackDown! this seems like the most sensible way to bring back Hassan, who was on RAW to begin with. Anyway, more on Hassan. He spurred a shitload of running gimmicks on YTMND.com, where his entrance music would interrupt important events or events that had nothing to do with wrestling. Search for "Hassan" on www.ytmnd.com for examples or search the forums here, plenty of them were posted. ![]() It'd also a running gag here as well to "Hassan" threads that suck, or just randomly for fun. ![]() ![]() EDIT: First watch: http://nobodyexpectshassan.ytmnd.com/ Then watch: http://thisistheendoftheworldfolks.ytmnd.com/ Then, in any order... http://muhammadhassan.ytmnd.com/ http://metalgearhassan.ytmnd.com/ http://hassanone.ytmnd.com/ etc. (they're everywhere) Finally: http://hassanator.ytmnd.com/ ![]() |

The only things you need to know, Mitch:
Eddie Guerrero was the reigning Undisputed Champion at Wrestlemania 20. And Chris Benoit won the World Heavyweight Championship on the same show, leading to a classic moment when the two champs hug in the ring. Also, Brock Lesnar was top face/top heel of Smackdown, but he'll probably be best known for his (botched) Shooting Star Press in WM19. At which I was cheering (along with a lot of the crowd) for the top heel, Kurt Angle --- as he was wrestling with a broken neck and was due for surgery, but his commitment to his fans came first and he wrestled a truly life-threatening match. God bless Kurt. |

Continuing on the Brock Lesnar story, the guy has terrible WrestleMania luck. As mentioned before, he landed on his head at WM19 (and this is a 280+-pound guy we're talking about here). And just before WM20, it got out that he was going to leave WWE to pursue a career in football, so the crowd at WM20 were ruthless toward him during his match with Goldberg. The match itself was terrible, and the crowd made it that much worse.

yes Eugene is Eric Bischoff's "nephew", and he is retarded, but in a manly way.
And Gene Snitsky killed Lita's baby when she was married to Kane, and then she fell in love with Kane, only to reveal later to be in love with Edge, who she then married. And now Matt Hardy is coming back and attacking Edge every week. |
