fuck that. Mr. T dude. The Wrestling boom of the last half of the 80s was in part due to Mr. T's involvement, just as the boom of the attitude era had to do with Tyson.
Of course I'm not saying their responsible, but they were counterparts of major events that launched eras and went hand in hand with the leaders of those eras respectively (Hogan and Austin).
For that, they were major contributors. It'd be wrong to credit them with the success, but they deserve some props as part of it.
Those are probably the two high points of wrestling in history. At least in terms of financial and mainstream success. So for that those services are invaluable.

Others were very entertaining, and even gained attention for the promotion it occured in. In a lot of cases, it was actually quality work and involvement. But I don't think any of it holds a candle to the work of Mr. T and Mike Tyson.

The thread doesn't say most influential or most impact it's "best." Mr. T was terrible and if it weren't for the brilliance of Roddy Piper it would have been less then terrible. As for Mike Tyson his appearences wre so lame all he did was stand there and do half assed crotch chops, and the fakest looking pulled punch ever.

Then you look at the old tapes of Andy Kaufman wrestling women, and getting into it with Jerry Lawler and that stuff is amazing. Kaufman was a guy that actually cared about what he was doing and made the show better. So what if the casual wrestling fan was intrested in Mr. T or Mike Tyson, the casual fan was also intrested in Dennis Rodman, Karl Malone and Jay Leno, all of which were stupid as hell.

If you're saying drawing power then sure Mr. T and Mike Tyson deserve there due, but if you're saying best then it has to be Andy Kaufman the only celebrity to actually carry a fued on the mic and in the ring. A guy with that much name recognition to two of the hottest TV shows of the time (Taxi and Saturday Night Live) that was beloved for his lovable character to get people to despise him to the point he recieved death threats, now that's a fucking heel, Mr. T nor Mike Tyson pulled that off.
