I'm not to bothered by Vince winning the title at all tbh. It's given me another reason to tune into ECW to find out what's going to happen now.
The way I'd like to this go would be to have Vince pay off the New Breed to protect him during his matches (While Umaga and Shane keep tabs on Lashley). So everytime he is forced to defend his title (by the board of directors) the New Breed just demolishes his opponents. Eventually you have an RVD V Vince McMahon match scheduled, the New Breed attacks RVD, but the Originals come in to even the score. A brawl ensues, and the Originals gain the advantage. Umaga and Shane come out though, and the combined might of NB, Umaga, Shane and Estrada are to much. Just when it seems the numbers will be to much Lashley comes out and starts to take out everything that moves., but even Lashley can't overcome these odds. Elijah Burke sets up for the Elijah Express but CM Punk hits him with a clothsline. Punk leaves and the originals fight back, and once again the favour turns to Lashley and the Originals. Finally after a long battle RVD rolls into the ring and the match begins, while the rest of the Originals + Lashley battle against Umaga, Estrada, Shane, and the NB. Van Dam knocks Vince around the ring, hitting the usual spots (Rolling Thunder, Split Legged Moonsault, Spinning Kick onto railing from ringside, so forth). RVD then finally knocks Vince down and goes up to the top rope for the 5 Star Frog Splash. RVD goes for the R-V-D thumb pose but before he actually jumps CM Punk comes through the crowd, crotches RVD on the ropes, puts him onto his shoulders and hits the G2S, then goes up top and hits RVD with a 5 Star Drug Free Frog Splash. Punk helps up Vince, then once Vince can hold himself up on the ropes, leaves again through the crowd. Vince smiles, and pulls himself along the ropes and smirks down on RVD, finally falling down and making the pin. 1. . . . . 2 . . . The referee gets pulled out of the ring by...Paul Heyman. Paul grabs a chair, slides into the ring and behind Vince. Vince thinks he's won and picks himself up, turns around, and gets floored by a chair shot from Paul Heyman. Shane O'Mac see's whats going on and slides into the ring and grabs the chair from Heyman. Shane O'Mac swings Heyman ducks and Shane turns around to try again, but instead gets smashed by a Van Daminator. RVD then looks at Vince, then at the turnbuckles, smirks and goes up top. R-V-D thumbs, he jumps, hits the 5SFS, makes the pin by the returning referee, and is crowned new ECW Champion. This woud then hopefully lead to a CM Punk V RVD match ![]() |

Survey question.
Suppose, just suppose, that this leads to a storyline where Paul Heyman returns to ECW, brings back Rhyno and the Dudleys, and the following six months of ECW programming are Heyman and the Originals (plus Lashley) vs Vince and the New Breed (plus Umaga.) Would that be worth it? |

*No Chance In Hell plays*
*Vince comes out strutting with the ECW Title in tow* Vince: This can't be a show at the "House of Hardcore" without the ECW Champion. You can't start a show at the old ECW stomping grounds without the FACE of E...C...W. That's right we can't start One Night Stand without ME...VINCENT...KENNEDY...MAC-MAHON!!! *Vince holds up the ECW Title* Vince: I sat back for years watching ECW and I realized that ECW needed a champion who can literally say that they ARE the face of E...C...W. ECW needed someone who can be EXTREME. And no one in the World is as EX-TREME as Vincent Kennedy McMahon. And ECW needed someone who is championship savvy, well as being a former WWE Champion and YOUR current ECW Champion, I know more about championships than anyone else in ECW history. That's two. As for wrestling? Well I may not be technically sound, but dammit compared to everyone else in ECW, I'M RIC FLLLAAAIR!!!! *Vince struts around like Ric Flair* Vince: Okay, Justin Roberts come here please I've got something very important for you to do. *Justin Roberts, ring announcer for ECW goes into the ring* Roberts: Ladies and gentleman, the winner of the match and the NEEEWWWW ECW World Champion...VINCE...MCMAHON! *Vince jumps up and down like he's won the Superbowl* |

Shane would have been the best choice out of the three, because at least he can wrestle in the ECW style.

I think an angle where Shane McMahon or Umaga won the ECW Title would have done just as much for the brand, but that might just be me.
I was looking forward to ECW starting with CM Punk cutting a promo this week, about to explain why he did what he did to Elijah Burke. Then the New Breed come out, and Burke tells his associates that he knew it was a mistake letting Punk into the NB, but suddenly Burke is low blowed by Matt Striker, and then he takes a group beating from the New Breed under CM Punk's control. That is even less likely now, as Sci-Fi is going to be the Vince McMahon hour. Here is what I would do, starting with Monday Night RAW: Vince McMahon comes out and cuts the promo we all know he wants to cut. "I am extreme!" Boring shit. Anyway, Vince says that seeing as he loves his son, he's going to give Shane a shot at Championship gold tonight. Shane McMahon will challenge Santino Marella for the WWE Intercontinenal Championship. Also announced is Bobby Lashley vs. Umaga in a Steel Cage Match, with Vince hoping Umaga takes out Lashley once and for all. Santino Marella proves to be a fighter, and defends the IC Title successfully against Shane McMahon in a segment in the middle of the show. The Steel Cage Match between Lashley and Umaga could probably main event if they wanted it to, and the match would feature Umaga going for a Samoan Splash from the top of the cage (ala Rikishi), which Lashley dodges. The former ECW Champ then nails Umaga with a Spear for the pin. Vince tells Shane to go finish the job on Lashley, but they do a repeat spot (underwhelming, I know), where Lashley flies into the side of the cage, and flattens Shane. Vince then finds Lashley staring up the ramp at him, so he goes to turn into the back, but "This is Extreme" begins to play, and the ECW Originals appear on stage, blocking off escape for Vince. The ECW Champion then turns around into a Spear from Lashley. They could probably take the beat-down further, with the Originals taking care of Vince, Shane, Umaga and Estrada. ECW then opens with Shane McMahon rallying the New Breed (including Punk and Burke) in the ring. He tells that his father put them together for a reason, and Elijah Burke is leader for a reason. Shane McMahon gets into CM Punk's face and asks Punk if he can accept that. Bobby Lashley, Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman make their entrance, and we get a big brawl. Dreamer goes after Thorn, Sandman goes after Striker, Sabu goes after Burke, Lashley goes after Cor Von and RVD goes after Punk. Shane bails and just watches the chaos. Burke is taken out first by Sabu. Thorn then takes out Dreamer, and then pairs up with Sabu, who discovers he didn't put Burke down hard enough, and Burke hits Sabu with an Elijah Express into the ring post. The Sandman has taken out Matt Striker, but now he finds himself on the receiving end of a double team from Thorn and Burke. Lashley takes out Marcus Cor Von, and he then manages to hold his own against Burke and Thorn. RVD actually gets the better of Punk, but when he goes up for the Five Star Frog Splash, Shane McMahon shoves him off the top rope and into the barricade at ringside. Lashley then finds himself beaten down by Burke, Thorn and Punk, as Shane, Cor Von and Striker rejoin them, and the heels stand tall. Shane McMahon surving as Vince's mouth as the ECW Champion doesn't feel safe to appear on their shows is the way to kick off this program, I think. Eventually I'd have Paul Heyman instated as ECW's General Manager by the Board of Directors, and he compells Vince to defend the ECW World Championship against the winner of the five-way match between the Originals. Bobby Lashley wins, and we get Vince vs. Bobby for the Title, where the Black Bulldozer regains his World Championship. |

The whole two-time World Champion thing is another reason why Shane should have gone over. Vince has been WWE Champion, and his more talented son has only ever been European and Hardcore Champion. An ECW World Title run could have legitimised the Shane McMahon character as top heel. It's a little sad to look as Vince McMahon's resume: -1999 Royal Rumble Winner -WWE Champion -ECW World Champion That's a lot better than most guys ever get. |

Liken this to the torture debate for a moment. What you're asking is "If torture could viably provide real results despite all studies and evidence to the contrary, and you had an hour to get answers, would torture be okay? Sure. E xtremes blur the line. But they don't make the actual reality any more acceptable. |

I don't care. ECW is Vince's property now, and anyone who confuses what ECW was with anything that Vince McMahon is doing now was not even that hardcore of an ECW fan to begin with. This is a totally different promotion now, it's not ECW, it never was ECW. It has a couple of ECW guys in it and the same name. Whoopity Doo! Accept this is just McMahon taking his Last Place World Title, and using it as a gimmick because him as Champ does make some kind of interest in it. Honestly, I'd take McMahon over Lashley...
