I used to love it when people would cry about how they kept adding matches to his streak and he hadn't really won that many in a row....was the actual number that important? Its fake

I have always loved Goldberg, from his run in WCW to his run in the WWE.

I would want to see him in the WWE again, but this time as a diminant monster who eats men.

I didn't get the appeal. There were points where I didn't hate him, but I don't think there was ever a point at which I liked him.

But surely it wasnt Regals job to show him up?

I forget what lead to it but it wasnt Regals place to make a guy look like a fucking idiot (no matter how deserving) when the company paying his wages has him lined up for the top. Hes not just screwing himself but everyone.

And from my memory of the match while Regal was obvioulsy in charge Goldberg didnt look that stupid.

Goldberg in WCW was the fucking man, purely because he was presented so well. The entrance, the pyro, the intensity, the handful of badass moves, it's over. The crowd heat during Goldberg's period of being the rising star was unreal, and the clip of Goldberg beating Hogan is still amazing to look at.

Of course it was marketing and packaging, but the question isn't whether he's Chris Benoit in the ring, it's whether he was a big deal, which he was.

I remember being a huge mark for Goldberg back when I first started watching in mid-'98. Of course, then I was only about 12 years old and had no real concept of what made a good wrestler different from a bad wrestler, so I just bought whatever WCW fed me.

He had an awesome entrance and looked like a fucking beast (and was booked as such), but in retrospect, Goldberg was just a really finely-polished turd.

The Goldberg Spear is the spear. I'd say the Gore comes in second, with Lashley's spear third. Edge's spear is more of a pop thing. I remember thinking that Edge's size wasn't good for a spear, but he used it well. Tanaka's spear hit's hard too.

I enjoyed seeing Goldberg on my television set, but the problem with Goldberg's character (IMO), is that it was too one dimensional. Yeah....the guy squashes people...but then what? After he becomes champ....then what?

It almost got to the point where if Goldberg DIDN"T win, it would be out of character (if that makes sense).

So in conclusion - I enjoyed Goldberg to an extent (I like ANYONE that becomes a big superstar), but I wish that his character was more multi-dimensional.

To be honest, I watched his first few matches the other day, and they were far fucking better than a huge amount of the crap that's on my TV week in and week out right now.
