There are certain wrestlers that you just are never suprised that they would do a shoot interview slandering an old boss or other workers. Konnan is high on said unsprising list.

Plus he is really ugly.

So? He took a ton of guys who didn't really draw much at all (Like it or not, it's a fact.) and brought them from one US based company to another. What's your point? Where are all those great cruiserweights now? Any companies that make money off of the lucha style would be doing so anyway based on Heyman bringing them into ECW in the first place.

As for the big leagues, Eddie and Rey have undeniably broken the barrier of just being some luchador competing in the cruiserweight division.

I should clarify that by "guys who didn't really draw much at all" I am saying the luchadores weren't big draws in WCW. Saying that Konnan contributed more to wrestling than Mysterio because he brought them to WCW, you're basing it on WCW's cruiserweight division which people enjoyed just fine and look back on with fine memories but in the end, which of those luchadores that came over actually went on to be a decent draw?

1 - If it was so easy, why didn't anyone do it before?

2- If it was so easy to do, how bad does that make the various "creative" teams would get paid to think of good ideas and they missed this one?

we're not saying the basic premise of the gimmick was never around before. Yes, Los Boricuas was basically a Hispanic thug gimmick, but how did they do? Yes, there has been thug gimmicks before. But the basic gimmick is not was made LAX. The presentation, the actual backstory to the group, and the in your face angles they shot made them.

To me at least, the LAX gimmick and angle stood out from the pack. Some things they did that really stood out? They had a seperate entrance from everybody else in TNA. Konnan put a "border" around the Spanish Announce Table and declared it was "Latinos Only" The group had thier own personal anouncer introduce them. Thier entrance video and music and the way the screen went back and forth with quick cuts between the video and the LAX fans during the entrance was really cool.

And TNA pushed them to be thugs and didn't really pussify anything about them. They laid guys out and "injured" some guys badly. I loved the spot where Konnan held Chris Harri's hand on a brick wall and I think Homicide picked up the guardrail and rammed it right into it. OMG! Latinos got over with Mexicians for being gangesters? Konnan is a fucking genious! Only a man of incredible know how and charisma could get a tag team based off of stereotypes over in a local promotion that rarely ventures outside its own arena! Watch out Vince McMahon, Konnan is a free agent now and he is gunning for you.
