There are no plans to end it, season 19 is just another normal season. If this movie is as successful as it seems it could be, there will probably be more movies and plenty more seasons. As long as people are watching/paying, and it's profitable it will probably keep going. Aside from promotion and the cast, it probably costs next to nothing to produce.

SPOILER ALERT:

Awesome movie. The first hour was like ROFL every 2 minutes, dragged a bit near the end. Pretty sweet cameo by Green Day at the start

Pretty LOL that they showed Bart's penis too, wasn't expecting that. And rofl @ the black joke with Lenny and Carl.

Saw it yesterday and didn't find it that funny. It had a couple of rofl moments, but that was about it. It's no where near as funny as numerous reviews have made it out to be.

I couldn't have been happier with this film. For a series to put out a movie 19 years in and really hit with all the finesse and emotion of the earlier seasons is something to be admired. The animation was fucking gorgeous. The film wasn't madcap "I'm laughing so much my sides hurt" funny, but it still had a number of quality, quality ROFL moments in a substantial enough quantity to satisfy me. I think I preferred that anyway, as it allowed for the story (which was far stronger than I was expecting) to develop. The story was interrupted by laughs, not the other way around (*cough*Family Guy*cough*). There were some beautiful moments between Homer and Marge. I've always enjoyed episodes that examine Homer and Marge's relationship, and the movie did it really well.

I think the fact that 8 of the 11 writers were from the old batch really helped - you could really feel it in the family's interaction that it was the older crew writing. Well, I could, but then The Simpsons is my thing.

That said, there were really only two things about the movie that bothered me: (Spoilers, duh)

1. The President Schwarzenegger thing. What's wrong with Rainier Wolfcastle? It was the same character model with brown, slightly less, hair and age lines. What gives? :\
2. Homer and Marge wouldn't have had a wedding video - they got married on a whim at Shotgun Pete's. Or, if they did have a video, Patty and Selma sure as hell wouldn't have been there. It's not a big deal, just seems surprising. Was the Shotgun Pete's wedding retconned in later seasons?

Other than that, though, because I kept myself away (or at least tried to) from all forms of hype and advertisement and internet chatter, I went in with nobody's expectations but my own, and I honestly feel like they more than delivered on it. Animation was great, voice acting was great. Slightly disappointed that Sideshow Bob didn't make an appearance, but you can't win them all. Pretty much every other character you could hope for was in it. It was funny throughout with some hilarious moments, weaved into an overarching plot that was actually pretty cool. Plus, any cameo by Albert Brooks (the guy who played Hank Scorpio) is always a bonus, since he is awesome.

9/10 (for me).

Was remarkable. I was kinda hyped, but I got this weird feeling where I got to the theater where I was like "holy shit. I'm seeing a Simpson's Movie". It was like the someday that actually came feeling. I wasn't really pumped until I got there.
Anyways, the movie was amazing. Had a special big movie feel, but stayed true to the show I love so much. Best part about it was it took me right back to the earlier Simpsons seasons. Yet it still had that "we've been going for 20 years and we can still do it" feel to it.
Amazing really, was certainly awesome. I've always loved the Simpsons but this really recaptured the magic that has been (in somes opinions) lost. I hope it re-energizes the series.

The Gracie Films thing at the end really legitimized it all at the end too.

Wasn't as huge on it as ya'll. I give it a 3 out of 5 stars. Wasn't too impressed. I mean it had it's moments but just wasn't there for me. It didn't feel like some awesome Simpsons movie, mor just an extended episode. I mean if you look at how well South Park made the move from tv show to movie, Simpsons had a tough act to follow and in the end they weren't able to follow it.

Please note I also saw Hairspray right afterwards and enjoyed it more than Simpsons. So perhaps my opinion shouldn't be counted because I enjoy movies that question your sexuality.

I enjoyed it and I wouldn't say I was disappointed but I think I went in expecting something different. I was kinda expecting the movie would be more of a culmination of the series with at least a couple speaking roles for old characters.

semi-spoiler:
why couldn't they have used an old character to save Homer in the wilderness instead of the big breast eskimo? Homer's assistant Karl would've been perfect for that

I thought the plot and the milestones were there. I have only a handful of gripes. They're not really things that were missing, just things I personally wish were in there..

- Sideshow Bob
- more Mr. Burns, he's the Simpsons main villian
- a couple more speaking lines for the supporting cast (Snake, Skinner, Moe, Willie)
- a couch gag

The movie made me very happy and nostaligic though. It was just amazing seeing The Simpsons up on the silver screen.

Actually, there was at least 1 that I caught...

***SPOILERS***

Homer/Bart finally crossed the gorge on the motorbike. If you remember there was an episode where Bart was going to, and then Homer ended up doing it and fell into the gorge. I actually thought it was awesome they had the gorge crossing in the movie.

Also, the "release the hounds" bit by Burns... Not sure how many times that was done before, but it's in at least one older episode...

I loved this movie...saw it twice.

It was just great seeing them up on the big screen...they really took advantage of that. It was awesome seeing Springfield from that new persepective. Favorite bits were:

-Bart's dick
-"He filled the whole silo in two days?" "Well I helped"
-Otto with a bong

Green Day playing "nearer my god to thee" when they were sinking was great too.
All of the witty jokes and gags were straight outta the glory days of season 3-9. Great stuff.
And like I said the plot, music, character developments, and big happenings solidified it's movie status. It played like an episode, yes. I don't see why that's a complaint. It also played like a big huge movie. It was the biggest most eventful episode ever with landmark moments and things that can't be achieved or touched on on network tv.
Guest voices were awesome.
It was everything it should have been and then some.

Spoilers below.

I saw it again and I have to say, I enjoyed it more the second time than the first. Knowing what was coming gave me more opportunities to revel in the wonderful sight gags ("El Fiesta de Cinco de Mayo, coming September 18th") and in-jokes which were less obvious the first time around. I disagree with Supreme. I think there are plenty of treats for long-time fans. As previously mentioned, there is the gorge jump and the fact the ambulance is still crashed into the tree. The Itchy and Scratchy short is a long-time gag. The "Jebus" reference was nice, as well as the general Homer-not-wanting-to-go-to-church ideal reminiscient of Homer the Heretic. They left Grampa in the car for what is probably the third or fourth time now. The way Krusty spit out the burger when he's advertising it (all that was missing was "Bah! I nearly swallowed some of the juice!"). The church marquee. The fact that the people of Springfield, once again, descends to a riotous mob. Perhaps a little obscure, but when Bart catches the fish, the way he says "whoa, Mama!" is pretty much identical to the one in the Do the Bartman single. And "Close to You" by the Carpenters plays in Homer and Marge's wedding video - the same song played in The Way We Was in a similar moment between Homer and Marge. Also, the shot from behind as Homer and Marge ride off is very reminiscient of Life on the Fast Lane, when Homer is carrying Marge out of the Nuclear plant.

I dunno. It was immense the first time, but I really felt like I got more out of it the second time.

I was pretty dissapointed. I dunno, it's hard to drag that kind of humour out for 90 minutes. Was still enjoyable though.

In the scene where Marge tries to figure out the meaning behind the quote, Maggie is seen playing the Baby Blast game she took off Bart, Maggie doesn't like other babies.

Also, the bit where Flanders points out the 4 states that neighbour Springfield. That's been done in a past episode, and it's an inside joke on how nobody knows what state Springfield is in.

Got back from this a short time ago. God, Homer was right the minute the the Ichy and Scratchy cartoon was over. I got suckered into this. I got a few good laughs out of this. But Maggie had me cracking up.

I'm with Bad Company on this. They could have made this into a good hour long episode.

It is been a while since I last watched The Simpsons, but I was still excited about the movie. I was not dissapointed, and it even made me nostalgic. Once again, the translators did a great job because the French version was pure genius, which is rare for something dubbed.

I thought the movie was good, it entertained me and some parts were really funny, my favorite part was (Spoiler I guess in black):

Bart was skating naked and he passed Ralph and Ralph said, "I like men now." and the same part where Bart was naked and he skated past Skinner's mother and she yelled, "don't look where I'm pointing," and she was pointing directly at Bart.

Didn't think it was anything special. Seemed like a normal episode to me and just like those normal episodes I still can't figure out why the hell they needed to go to Alaska, didn't seem to add much to the story.

I was vaguely dissapointed. I mean some bits were funny but nothing too hilarious LOL moments. Although thats not a bad thing either. Quite a lot of the Simpsons humour to me is really clever subtle humour but not necessarily a LOL moment. It was kinda weird watching it in a cinema with a reasonable amount of laughing.

Anyway it was good but not great. The Animation was good. The voice acting was good. The story and the gags not so much.
