You called it a vice. I was simply clarifying that liking a product doesn't make it a crutch for survival.

And I have no idea what you reference in terms of "pot calling the kettle black".

You seem to think that "straight edge" means no drugs, of any variety, ever. But, that's not exactly how it works. You offer a guy morphine when you take out a bullet, he's going to accept.

The people that function under the "straight edge" flag refuse the intake of substances that the general public looks at as potentially harmful. Not soda-pop. Sure, you'll have your vegans in analogy to the straight edge vegetarian, but they're not so common and even less popular.

And for the record, I find straight edgers to be blind followers of an invisible leader; I'm not defending the practice or the pride. But trying to rip on the guy for drinking Pepsi as a resort to calling him a fraud is a little ridiculous.

Well actually, Punk's fanboys often laud how he's refused drugs for legitimate medical attention, and he has often bragged about how he doesn't take shit like that.

Now, not all straightedgers believe that shit like tylenol and caffeine are bad (Nor do they necessarily believe casual sex is bad), but that doesn't appear to be Punk's belief structure, based on, you know, what he's said about himself specifically.

So yeah, drinking caffeine, which is a drug, is hypocritical.

Well, I"ll tell you what, sport. I don't read about Punk's life, because I"m not a fan -- apparently, you think in quite the opposite fashion. It's great that you know his decisions, his precise lifestyle, and whatever else.

1. Yes. It is an application. And you've just blown it off.

4. Actually, it comes from my not caring or knowing what he allegedly preaches. Pay attention to the conversation -- or, at least, practice what you preach, and don't "make stuff up".

5. From personal experience, it is true, and you are wrong. Granted, my phrase of "things the general public considers potentioally dangerous" is my wording, and not that of the Se'ers that I call friends and/or acquaintances. And yeah, some don't use painkillers unless the situation is extreme. But only one that I"ve met is anti-caffeine. So, I guess I just happen to know all the people that make up your minority of "morally flexible" SE'ers.

6. Once again, it was not a "rebuttal". It was affirming the fact that using a product doesn't make it a "vice", regardless of your convenient choice of definition.

I don't know much about straight-edge, but I know this much about it: There are several different variations of it. Some have a thing against promiscuous sex, for example. I doubt Punk uses that strand, because he's been with every female in the industry.

Caffeine may be a drug, but while I'm not going to say no form of straight-edge prohibits caffeine (I'm sure there would be an extreme form of it that does), I know many that do not. I've always understood straight-edge as a cultural discipline, and not a health one. The "edge" people I know don't want to conform to the normal social traps that a lot of others fall into (sex, drugs, alcohol). I don't know too many people that have "Pepsi raves." From a young age, you are introduced to things like Coca Cola. I'm not going to argue the science of it (you're a daft dickhead if you think that is the point), but it's generally regarded as not being something that effects your life too badly, whereas something like snorting cocaine off a dirty dashboard might.

I know someone who is straight-edge because they don't want to be at the mercy of substances. It's more about how others perceive them. Alcohol and drugs put someone in a state of intoxication where they are not in control of their behaviour, cannot operate a vehicle, and become a burden onto others. It's not so much about their personal health as how they choose to interact with other people.

I'm not straight-edge myself, and I only know a few people who are, and many are way too overzealous with the way they advertise their beliefs, but I'm fairly certain I'm not questioning their beliefs based on the childish observation that "caffeine is a drug." No shit! Did you know that dolphins and whales are mammals?

I'm sorry, but that wasn't my intention. But to my understanding, violating the wellness policy is never good. That's 30 days Yang is going without work. Two more strikes, and he's out of a job, something that has happened to him before (so he should know that he is expendable to the company).

I'm sure the guy is not a heroin dealer, like KK obviously is, but I can't see how this can be "good" for Yang, as you said. Unless he learns from it, which was my intended point. He did something wrong, and I hope he can right it. Or at least rebound without too many consequences, because I really like watching the guy.

I know what you meant. It just burns me up when it comes off overtly negative -- and I don't just mean you, itt's beef I have with general communication. Personally, I doubt it's anything that will hold him back from his current position of being stuck in a tag team with a glorified jobber.
