Okay fuck I just got back from seeing this movie and I really don't see how anyone can disagree with me that drug users will definitely enjoy this movie more than non-drug users. what the fuck? did you even watch the same movie I did?

The whole relationship between James Franco and Seth Rogen is based on real life dealer-buyer relationships. The dealer who has the easiest job in the world, sits at home all the time, and the guy with a life who comes over and feels awkward about leaving. That whole thing about "we're friends but we're really not but he thinks we are" is fucking so spot on. That's exactly how it was with my dealer for a long time, and I know that's how it is with a lot of other dealers too. And a non-druggie won't "get" that as much. Obviously, unless they are retarded they will see the comedy in it, but unless you've really been there it's just not as easy to be relate. I can't tell you the number of times I've tried to leave my dealers house and he's been all "Yeah, sure, okay, man..." with that sad look on his face.

I can see why a non-user would enjoy the movie though. Balls out comedy for 2 hours. Extremely enjoyable.

I'm not really arguing that a drug user would enjoy the movie in a different way.

I just hate the whole "I enjoyed this movie on a way more than you people possibly could have because I do drugs" thing. It's annoying as hell. I hate when people try to "take" movies for their own because of dumb shit. As someone who enjoys movies, I loved it. Trying to discredit that is just lame.

It would be like a wrestling fan talking to a non wrestling fan about Beyond The Mat. Both of them having enjoyed the movie and the wrestling fan taking every opportunity to say how "I enjoyed the movie on a much deeper level because I know as a wrestling fan, blah blah blah.... DON'T TRY TO TELL ME YOU LIKED THIS MOVIE MORE BECAUSE I'M A WRESTLING FAN AND I KNOW ALL THESE PEOPLE, blah blah blah... as a wrestling fan, I like wrestling and I know about wrestling and the thing about wrestling is this..."

Hmm, I was on the side of #1-wwf-fan, but his own analogy has made me switch sides. Because I'm fairly certain a wrestling fan WOULD like Beyond the Mat better for the fact that he is a wrestling fan. So if that holds true, I guess it holds true for this movie.

I still liked Pineapple Express though.

I'm not remarking on whether he would enjoy it or not though. Read that last paragraph. I'm just stating that it's obnoxious for someone to try to give themselves a sense of belonging because they relate more to a movie that everyone likes. "I liked it more than you because I'm a wrestling fan".

However, I will also make the point that someone can enjoy a movie for being well-made just as much, if not more than someone who relates to the characters. It's not like it's automatic. It's a retarded point to try to make.

Gonzo has a point, i won't disagree with you though on the point a drug movie without being on drugs doesn't make it any less funny but from a stoner point of view...

A pot movie is hilarious on pot and unless you smoke you don't know what they are talking about and no hearing the reference from your stoner friends and using it/knowing it doesn't make you any more knowledged, if your not a stoner then there are parts you won't get if you've never smoked period

Yes because a movie based around smoking weed will be so easy for you, someone who doesn't smoke to completely get. Sorry but its like going to a skateboard show and you don't skate board, you don't know whats going on but it can still be enjoyed... just not up to par

Cause you know... there is no art to making a movie that Seth Rogen went to school to learn and applied to make the movie.

Someone who is a movie buff can enjoy this movie MORE than someone who is a stoner for it being a well made movie. And everyone who argues that point is the exact type of person I'm talking about.

I actually didn't say that, but if you're going to put words in my mouth...

Pot may not be as harmful as, say, tobacco (especially in terms of things like cancer and other lung diseases), but it has been proven to cause abnormalities in the amygdala and hippocampus, the parts of the brain responsible for memory (long- and short-term), as well as spatial navigation and emotional reaction.

I also never said that because I don't do drugs I understand better. Of course, you'd remember that if your amygdala and hippocampus hadn't been damaged. What I said was that it's possible to appreciate any movie that's well-made, no matter the subject matter, and no matter what your state of mind. A good movie is a good movie.

Thats exactly it, certain parts that deal with "stoner moments" if you will are something we potheads can connect to more because more then likely we've been there before and have probably experienced some of what they've experienced. At the same time though, as the whole movie is concerned, you don't have to be a druggy to enjoy it, it's just that some of the stoner jokes or moments may not be as obvious or relevant to a non drug user.
