Saying American Pie and Ferrell movies paved the way for this is retarded. It is like saying The Godfather paved the way for Corky Romano because people ate up a movie about the mafia.

Will Ferrell and American Pie? Makes no sense at all. In all honesty, movies like Naked Gun, Loaded Weapon and Scary Movie paved the way for this shit.

However, they're not to blame. Just because they paved the way doesn't mean they're responsible. They're good. Naked Gun is fucking great.

That's like saying Psycho paved the way for Jeepers Creepers 2 or some shit. Technically, it did. It was a thriller/suspense that paved the way for slasher focused films like Halloween, and then all the garbage.
You can't place the blame on good or moderate films for trash imitations or deviations. Nobody is to blame other than the people who go to see them. Even the writers/producers can't be blamed because they're just supplying the demand.
