I'd have to say my all time favorite ref was in World Class Championship Wrestling out of Texas. Bronco Lubich. He was a wrestler, retired, then turned ref until WCCW folded in 1990. He, along with Gen. Skandar Akbar, for you "old School" fans, had an influence on
Superstars such as Mick Foley, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Percy Pringle (AKA Paul Bearer). WCCW is where they got their "breaks" into the business. For me, Bronco Lubich is most memorable for being the constant official in the Freebird/Von Erich feud. Those were my favorite times of the mid-late 80's period, as I had more exposure to WCCW than WWF/WCW at the time. Don't hate the Deadman, hate Death!!! |
