I like Kane, and he's contributed a lot over the last 12 years, but there comes a time when you can't take a character anywhere else. How mnay more heel turns? How many more face turns? How many more fun-lovin' goofball runs? How many more sadistic twisted evil maniac runs? How many more feuds with Undertaker?

Physically, he is not the same guy he was when he debuted (as Kane), but he is also stale and exhausted. I can see him leaving on amicable terms and returning now and again for one shots and short term storylines. I can't see him offering anything new at all in 2009 or beyond. Just retreading old ground less successfully each time round.

Same goes for Goldust.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Umanga has been really interesting lately. Not to mention putting on some good matches. He could have definitely stuck around as the "Kane" of the WWE. As in, rarely winning anything big, but treated like he is a huge monster threat.

Umanga at WM24 really had some people in the crowd behind him and I enjoyed that. They should've kept going with him being crazy and not making any sense on the mic. Firing him was stupid.

Bob Holly was there for the better part of two decades, and he got canned when he passed his use-by-date too. Vince is quite loyal to his old soldiers, but he's even more loyal to the almighty buck.

They didn't even try Umaga out as a face. They teased it one time where he'd just get all destructive with the heels and the fans loved it, but then he disappeared for a while and nothing came of it. Bit disappointed by this as I didn't think he was half bad, his matches with Punk at Judgment Day and Smackdown last Friday were great, but yeah it could easily be to do with something completely unrelated to his ring work or character.

What? Umaga takes time off, comes back looking stunning, and had something going for him.

I know Vince is quietly housecleaning, but Kennedy and now Umaga? There's gotta be more to this.

It could just be that they got fed up with him getting injured every time they tried to do something with him. The timing is definitely awkward, but I guess they figured since the Punk feud is over they didn't really have anything for him, and they'd rather cut him loose than have him toil away with nothing to do.

As far as Khali/Dutt goes, there's a chance Khali just leaves when his contract is up. I believe he's acknowledged that he can't compete for much longer with his bad knees, and that he's had a ton of movie offers. I think I'd definitely see a Bollywood movie with Khali in it.

I don't know if Dutt would be embraced as the Indian national hero. Khali was actually born in Punjab; Dutt was born in Washington D.C. I don't know how in touch he is with the culture (I imagine at least a bit considering he based his ring name off the famous Indian actor), but there's always the chance he's seen as more American than Indian...but perhaps some of the Indians here can help in that regard.

Umaga is a damn good talent. Eddie Fatu will do well for himself either in Japan, ROH or TNA. Personally, I'd be very interested to see the guy working in TNA. Samoa Joe vs. Ekmo Joe could be pretty cool.

I believe there has to be something more to this. Umaga either failing another piss test, and the WWE just giving up on him, or some sort of political issue.

If the WWE are making roster cuts, I can definitely see Tony Atlas being shipped off after losing to Evan Bourne on ECW. Then it may be Mark Henry's time. Also, if he's not wrestling, I can't see the WWE showing too much loyalty to Gregory Helms. I'm surprised that Sim Snuka and DJ Gabriel are still on the roster.

Didn't people go ape-shit for Sonjay Dutt when he went over to India? Plus, considering some of the stuff he can do in the ring, and the price the WWE would be able to bring him in for -- Dutt could be, ultimately, a much better choice over Khali. Which is a shame, because Khali is a great guy.

I was just thinking that. They could have decided to let him go after a strike 2 and not make much noise about it.

I still think this could be pretty good for Eddie Fatu's career. The guy has got a lot of talent, and has really come unto his own. Umaga should have never worked, but the performer really made it (despite the usual monster booking that usually goes nowhere). With Samoa Joe now playing an Umaga rip-off in TNA (which is ironic), TNA bringing in Fatu could be very awesome.

Plus, Fatu is the kind of guy that can work in every division TNA has. He's big enough, credible enough and talented enough to work the main event; and he's agile and exciting enough against smaller opponents to work in the X-Division. I dream of a feud between Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam and Eddie Fatu over the X-Division Title. I know, I am dreaming, but it could rule.

Yeah, thank you. Samoa Joe debuted in TNA; the Umaga character debuted in the WWE, complete with jabs at Joe; Eddie Fatu made the character work; Samoa Joe has been repackaged with a character that now seems like an Umaga rip-off.

As reported on WWE.com on Monday, June 8, 2009, WWE Superstar Umaga (Edward Fatu) has been released from his World Wrestling Entertainment contract. However, consistent with the practice of announcing wellness policy violations, it should be noted that Umaga's termination was due to his second violation of the WWE Wellness Program and his subsequent refusal to attend a rehabilitation facility.

What strikes me as odd is this:

The possibility that maybe he refused to go to rehab because he didn't... I dunno... actually take the drugs?

I mean, it could have just as well been an "untouchable" pissing under his name. (aka: the 'Kai's favorite conspiracy theory as it pertains to wellness.)

Beyond that, the policy itself states he should have been suspended indefinitely, not released.

He may have asked for the release. That's what I heard he was telling people but it was before this was announced.
