Just back and in my wee opinion, thought it was the greatest movie ive seen in a long time
now not everyone will agree but that what i think
31 years old and had to do a few big gulps at the end
also when i first read night fall that that was how bane would speak
anyone else think that the judges role was originally for the Joker?

Saw it yesterday and will go to my second viewing tomorrow.

SPOILER: show
I absolutely loved it. It is by and far, for me, the most emotional of the three. Even though he wasnt in the film as much as I was expecting, Michael Caine was absolutely brilliant. His performance brought me nearly to tears.

Anne Hathaway has silenced all haters. Her performance was excellent, and she had great, great chemiztry with Bruce/Bats. Didnt hurt that she was fucking gorgeous the whole time.

Bane was awesome. I can see people being upset that Atwoman offs him so abuptly, but really, I dont see a ton of other options, considering Bats wasnt going to do it.

Speaking of Bats, Bale delivered his best offering in this film. Hes been given more to work with than any other actor in the lead role, and he really ran with it. The hopelessnesd he evoked when Talia made her big reveal was awesome. Also, his seeming acceptance of his fate has hes flying the bomb to sea was great.

I love the ending. Bruce being able to finally find peace and happiness, and for his real father, Alfred, to finally be able to witness Bruce at peace, free of his demons, was the only way I csnnow ever see this film ending. I was of the opinion that Bruce should be Batman forever, but Nolan an co. did such a great job writing the end I cant help but love it.

Also, the clever, yet subtle way Bruce reveals himself to Gordon wast just fantastic, and so touching.

Other things I really dug; Bruce being out of game shape. Yeah, he owned the mercs and prettyy much beat the tar out of them, you could see howmuch of a tole it took on him.

Alsi, the Bane/Bats round one fight was just fucking brutal. Bane just beats the holy hell out of Bats. Its almost tough to watch. I loved that the second time around, Bane was still manhandling him, and only when Bats snips some of the tubing on Banes mask with his gauntlett fin does Bats really get to layinto him.

And while even more brief than Two-Face in TDK, Talias reveal and her monologue explaining her origin, along with Batman seeming in such despair, was so great.

So yea, cant wait to watch it again tomorrow. Thank you Chris Nolan for givibg me my all time favorite trilogy. And way to give your successor an impossible task.

i thought it was a little slow through most of it and didn't get most of the comic book references and what not. i got kinda scared that i wasn't going to enjoy the movie but the big climax and twist at the end made up for it

It was a great movie my only complaint, and it may have just been the theater I saw it in, but the music was so loud I couldn't hear the dialogue at points.

Thats the film itself, not your theater. Id say I caught about 90% of the films dialogue.

I need to watch Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises in order.. such a beautiful trilogy. It's not 3 movies, it's one big long story that spans years in movie time.

Oh yeah and Avengers was good, but this smoked it.

I think its unfair to even compare the two. Both were equally good, but very different graphic novel based movies.

I was just trolling. I just prefer this style. His Batman movies are in the vein of V For Vendetta or From Hell, where they are based on comic books, it doesn't scream "SUPERHERO".

I can honestly admit that when Bane had Batman wrapped in the noose (I think that's when it was) after Talia stabbed him, I honestly thought that's when they might have killed him. It's all 20/20 hindsight now that I look back, but it was an actual legit thought at the time. I loved how they teased him dying all throughout the last hour

The Dark Knight is still the superior movie imo. I liked TDKR and its probably better from an acting standpoint but I just don't see how people say it was better than TDK. Some nice touches with continuity arcing across the movies but also some issues with the overall plot, IMO.

Spoilers of course...

I have pretty much no issues with the first third of the movie, which we'll say ends with Bane beating the hell out of Batman. Tough to watch by design and really does Bane justice as a menace and shows just how out of "game shape" Batman was. As another poster pointed out previously, Bane found a problem with the graphite. Someone else touched on how arrogant Bruce was, basically saying of Bane, yeah whatever, I'll fight harder and being completely screwed once he got face to face with Bane. Speaking of Alfred, the fallout between he and Bruce was powerful stuff. The way they reintroduced Batman back into Gotham was awesome. I thought the way that the movie explained how Daggett was trying to get control of Wayne Industries and how Bane was tied into it was clunky and convoluted.

The second third of the movie was weird - I didn't love it.
Catwoman trying to leave town was an important advance for the character (as if to say, this sucks/I screwed up, I'm done with this) but kinda went backwards later in the movie when she told Batman "F the city, get yourself out". The Harvey Dent thing in the beginning played into this part of the movie but didn't really have any demonstrable effect on anything thereafter beyond the conversation with Blake and Gordon. Bruce's time in the prison was a useful tool to advance the character and get him where he needed to be so to speak. The return of Ra's Al Ghul was cool but assuming it was the real him (which seems to be a given to me, since he says that there are "many forms of immortality"), it was weird to not have him appear for the rest of the movie, especially with how heavy themed the move was towards the League of Shadows. Why have someone else do your dirty work? A lot of time on Blake here, which I didn't hate but kinda dragged the movie here - necessary to set up the final act but slowed things.

I'm not sure how how I feel about the last third of the movie. Batman returns to save the city and bests Bane despite not being in a measurably better circumstance than in round one, which I had a problem with. If you've read the comics, you saw the Talia thing coming but the emotion on Batman's face when it happens still makes it worth watching. Catwoman flip flops as I mentioned before - coming back to save Batman but basically saying screw the city, you don't owe them anymore. A lot of time spent on the battle for the city and a lot less focus on actual characters - seems like Nolan spent a lot of time doing something very LOTResque and not very Batmanesque.

Which brings me to the ending itself, I go back to the quote from TDK "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villian" and I think that's what shaped the ending but I found the ending to be a little bit of a copout. I know Nolan does not want anyone picking up with "his series" and wanted to close the circle but I didn't find the ending to be consistent with the rest of the series or the movie itself. He gets out of the prison by learning to fear death but is ready to give his life at the end. In BB, he understood that death was a possibility but wasn't ready just to give his life up when confronting Ras. Same with Joker in TDK. It was like the character made a leap and then a leap back, similar to Catwoman.

All of that said, I think this was a better movie from an acting standpoint. You could tell that Gordon was burdened by what he knew with Dent and carrying the secret - great job by Gary Oldman. Bruce was clearly burdened by what happened - Dent/losing Rachel and was diminished both in character and as Batman. Bane was a beast and Michael Caine's short amount of screen time was still great stuff. Certainly a likable movie but probably the weakest of the series, imo.

Great movie. Can't even describe how epic it was.

SPOILER: show
The only thing that annoyed me was how they handled Roland Daggett. The guy is supposed to be Clayface. And Bane kills him just like that? They should have just given him a different name instead of teasing me like that.

Yeah, brain farted til I thought about it. He just ran the program that made the addictive face cream or whatever that addicted Hagen (I think that was his name) and then had his thugs test some new version on him or something that turned Hagen into Clayface. Been years since I actually read/saw this stuff. It is making me reminisce.

I'm pretty sure it's shut down to clean it up and I think there's a candlelight vigil thing there tonight. Anyway I wouldn't go to Aurora either way though, they just have cops stationed outside every theater I would imagine. And cops coming in to sweep the theater ever so often. I was formulating escape plans through like half the movie.

Not really in to Batman but went to see it with friends last night and I loved it. I saw The Dark Knight 4 years ago and it was okay. I didn't really "get" the story then though as I'd never seen a Batman before it or knew the story so that's probably why I enjoyed this one a lot more. Will definitely watch again (and the whole trilogy probably so I can make full sense of the whole thing).

Also. WHAT A FUCKING GREAT MOVIE.

Liked it better than TDK, which I didn't think was possible. Last 30-40 minutes of the movie had me choked up. Felt a permanent lump in my throat and was forcing myself not to tear up.
