He had some OK ideas, granted. The Xorn/Magneto thing would've been perfect if it had really been Magneto the whole time and the Cassandra Nova storyline was great. It was just the overall look and tone that kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

Well it's not Morrison's fault that Marvel has no balls, and didn't want to kill off magneto. And yeah, at first I didn't like the look and feel of the book either, but it has grown on me, and now anything written by morrison without quietly's art feels "off".

Good God, that's like saying "Aside from the rat droppings and the arsenic, what made this steak suck was the seasoning."

Even if held true, which I don't think it is in the case of the FF movies, it's so nitpicky as to be ridiculously stupid.

Movie was fucking sex. This is one of those rare times where utterly bastardizing the source material leads to spectacular times.

Best X-Men movie of the bunch. Glad to see so much agreement on that. I thought by the previews and the low hype that it was going to suck, but being an X-Men fan I had to go see it. I came out of this movie very happy.

Wouldn't say it's the best I still enjoyed X-Men United the most but First Class is very good in it's own right it was better than the last two outings even though I liked them as well.

Finally saw it, quite enjoyed. Disappointed that we probably won't ever get to see these actors as these characters again. Fassbender was a fantastic Mags, and Nicholas Hoult and Caleb Landry-Jones as Beast and Banshee really stood out to me as well.

I do wish Shaw's henchmen had been even slightly fleshed out, Mystique joining Mags at the end (and Angel joining Shaw) seemed muddled and unmotivated, and Beast's makeup was...well, slightly suspect. But those are minor gripes. Really good flick.

Love how everyone was pretty much shitting all over this flick for a year based on the scantest details, and now everyone's singing it's praises as possibly the best X-flick. Fanboys gonna fanboy, I guess.

Seriously though...

SPOILER: show
Riptide and Azazel as henchmen for Shaw? Weirdest combo ever. I bet 99%of the moviegoers had no clue who those guys are.

The starting line up of X-Men only having 1 of the original 5? Really?

Characters of different ages and eras in the history brought together as teenagers. It made no sense.

There were a lot of ambitious changes to the source material here. Couple that with the last 2 X-men films and you can't really be surprised that people were worried.

I'll argue this point to death: changes to the source material when making movies is par for the course. You're going from one format to another and some things (like bright spandex costumes or characters from alternate universes in this case) are just not always going to work in film. I get that. However, breaking away from the source material here and there is a slippery slope to change for the sake of change, which leads to losing what made the original material so good to its fans in the first place.

I liked this movie. Very scary marketing, speedy production, risky retcons, but it worked out. Kinda 'legitimizes' the Singer-verse. The Last Stand, for instance, kinda seems 'better' with this new context (even though the intro to X3 is out of the window, unless they're gonna ride that frenemy thing between X and Eric, which is comic accurate).
