Lesnars UFC contract said he could go back to the WWE.. He also had health reasons why he couldnt fight anymore.. Lesnar also didnt just sign the biggest, most lucrative contract of any UFC fighter ever directly before his final loss at 141.. Also, he only had 1 fight left, not 9..

Simple fact is, Silva hasnt legitimately lost since Dec of 2004.. He has been fighting the top middleweights in the world, and dominating them for the better part of a decade.. He has toyed with his opponents numerous times during that time.. Against Okami (ufc), Maia, Cote, and even against LHWs like Irvine, Bonnar, etc.. This time he got caught.. Fucksake even in the 2004 loss, he was toying with Chonnan before getting caught in a flying knee bar, that people have said was a fix forever..

Same thing happened to GSP vs Serra..

Anyone who says he threw the fight is fucking ridiculous..

Why would he taint his legacy this close to the end?? If he needed the money, he would have just finished his new contract , again, one he asked for (10 fights), and the biggest in UFC history..

He could have walked away with the belt into the sunset, being the GOAT..

He got cocky and got caught..

If it wasn't for the fact Silva has shown repeatedly that he has no class and no respect for the sport, the question of him throwing the fight wouldn't even come up. I do find it interesting it took this long for somebody to finally catch him while pulling his bullshit, but for the "punch heard around the world" to knockout Silva...its underwhelming. If people are paying money to see a dragon get slayed (or eat another human alive), than the dragon had better not die from indigestion instead of a flaming dagger through his skull.

Also, for a guy with a 10-fight contract left to fulfill...it sure sounds weird for him to say he is bored/tired of fighting for the title and doesn't even want the rematch. You can't just ignore the words the man said. That wasn't your ordinary "I just got my head caved in and in the heat of the moment I think I might retire" post-fight interview.

During the interview with Andrew Craig, the guy from ESPN referred to Chris Leben as "a legend in the UFC". I'm starting to think ESPN just sends some schmuck to these UFC shows. I thought ESPN hired Ariel Helwani?

ESPNs MMA coverage all but died when the UFC tv deal went away because of the FOX deal.. Thats when UFC hired Anik from ESPN and took their fighters off MMA Live.. MMA Live then got moved to like 1am on friday mornings..

Thats why its funny you are quoting ESPN about MMA..

The whole debacle made SportsCenter, so ESPN does give MMA a fair shake. UFC just runs too many shows that are mediocre (draw wise anyway) and not worth the in-depth coverage for the en masse sports news populace.
