Great match and ppv overall. Bayley beating the shit out of Sasha during the submission was a nice touch after all the times Sasha has done it to her.

I think I liked their last match better, and Sasha / Becky Lunch before that more, but I think a lot of that comes down to the inherent downsides and limitations of an Iron Man match.

It stole a lot of drama out of it, because you know there's not much of a chance Sasha's going to win and the clock count down with a tie situation really shows "Hey, she's not going to hold out"

I think if they would have gone to overtime and then done that spot, it would have been better.

Great closing segment though.

Here's why NXT is so much better than the main product:

They're not afraid to do something different, and it's not overproduced yet it still has the high quality production value of the WWE machine. It's a wrestling show, not a show about wrestling. Raw/Smackdown are such high value, high visibility products that WWE will seemingly NEVER take a big risk with them and make a major change or take a big risk, and Kevin Dunn/whoever else are so focused on making everything shiny and glossy and flashy that you lose most of the substance.

NXT don't give a fuck. Like Asuka. It'll kick you in the teeth.

Probably could have cut down on the score a bit but was going to be hard to top the last match story and emotional wise regardless what was picked for this one.

Closest this match came was Sasha taunting Izzy and the ending of Bayley getting desperate to not have the match stopped in a tie with those kicks to Sasha's head.

Yeah, I mean, it's an important match to have for a variety of reasons. The Ironman stip also definitely makes sense from a storyline perspective and to underscore how talented the women are.

So, it's great from every perspective for the lead up, but the ironman stipulation has SO many downsides. It's a great stip for building up a match and a storyline, but the match itself just suffers from so many inherent drawbacks, especially now that the match has happened often enough for most of the "tricks" to be pretty commonly known. You lose all of drama of "IS THIS THE END?" because you have a timer, and the only way to get around that is by going to overtime, and that in turn makes the first 30, 60, whatever minutes feel irrelevant. This is compounded by having one of the competitors clearly being "promoted" off the show. It's just one of those stipulations that's an uphill slog.

I love the stipulation for what it means in a historical/event context and how it worked for the story, but I hate the stipulation for the match itself.

That said, they did the best they could do with the stip, and I'm happy they got the chance and that I got to see it.

I was actually kinda hoping for the match to end in a draw. Like, would that have been dissatisfying, or would it have shown how evenly matched they are?

I think that would have been a gutsy, interesting choice in different circumstances. You can't do that in a "historic" main event like this, I don't think, and it would only really work as a build up to another match, but where do they go from there for NXT and women?

It's a different enough ending that they haven't done a ton in high profile matches, just Angle/HBK and some random tag team title match on WWECW, but it would have been difficult to do well in this context. I have faith that they could have done it well, but it would have been tough and wouldn't be something you could end the feud on.

Yet another stellar wrestling show courtesy of NXT. The Dusty tag team classic was phenomenal. Even though they lost, Dash and Dawson and Jordan and Gable put on a terrific performance. Anybody notice the crowd chanting Gable to Angle's theme?

Mightily impressed by Asuka. She could use a mouth piece but damn it get her to the top of the women's card.

I agree with everything that's been said about the Ironman match to this point, but I still enjoyed it and thought the girls put on a great main event.

Great show as usual for nxt. Well done.

I don't think it was possible to top the last couple of major women's matches but it was still a solid match. I think the idea was for Sasha to land on her feet after the reverse huricanrana which would have been (lock) Jaw dropping. Making Izzy cry was super old school heel stuff. Loved it. Love whenever Sasha mocks her opponent. Hope this isn't the end of Sasha as we know her with her getting lost amongst the rubble of the Divas Revolution on Raw.

That End of Days spot was phenomenal. Corbin is actually growing on me. Maybe it was just a great tag match but I like him in the ring at the moment.

Asuka is going to be sweet. Glad to see an effort to keep the pipeline going of great female talent. Dana worked well with her I thought.

Almost thought Breeze was gonna pull out a win for a second. Only for a second though. Good match. Breeze is a very interesting case. He's one of the few who didn't just get pushed up to the main roster after a run at the top of NXT even though he wasn't champ. Usually guys move on and don't go back to the mid card at nxt. I'll be watching to see if they just let him languish there jobbing at every takeover event or if they push him again.

I believe Paul said on the conference call that NXT is geared to the more passionate wrestling fan. Which makes sense because it's on the WWE Network. On the other hand RAW and Smackdown need to appeal to a wider audience to draw enough viewers to keep growing their revenue from TV rights fees.

My cuiosioty lies with would WWE put NXT on cable if that opportunity opened up. If that were to happen, I think you would see more people having a day on how the show is laid out to appeal to that wider audience. But in doing so, i think that would kill the uniqueness that NXT has, and would ultimately lead to their demise. On the other hand if a show like that is on cable TV, I don't think it does big enough numbers to be a success.

It's a tough spot to be in for WWE. You have this brand that you want to maximize revenue on, but doing so risks killing it. I would just keep it as a selling feature of WWE Network, but that's not maximizing revenue.

Just watched this...

Two very good tag team matches to open the show.... I liked the story in both Balor/Joe vs Dash/Dawson and in JJ/Gable vs. Corbin/Rhyno.

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable seem to have huge potential.... fans seem to be getting into them more and more. Some "insane pops" for Jason Jordan, and I "laughed" at them chanting "Gable" in the tune of Kurt Angle's theme. I see big things down the line for one or both of these guys. I think Jason Jordan in particular could one day be NXT champion.

The actual finals of the tag team tournament was just "ok", I thought.

Dana Brooke vs. OssKa was pretty f'n sweet.... OssKa is pretty much everything I would have hoped from Hideo Itami.... badass, hard hitting, and with a ton of charisma.... I see big things for OssKa.

Breeze vs. Apollo was a good match. Was rooting for Breeze to win, and really thought they were going to give him one.... but I guess I should have learned by now that Breeze just doesn't win at these. Which is why I thought they should give him one. Also to show that Apollo is "vulnerable", etc....

Main event was good. Not as good as their last match... but for an ironman match, I did like some of the "psychology" and "progression" in the decisions, and the overall "story" of the 30 minutes....

I do really think that the match should have gone to a sudden death... especially with like, what? 3 seconds left, and Sasha, you can't just hold out for 3 seconds? Makes it feel "anti-climactic" that it actually ended then. Plus the fans would have gone banana for Regal, or Steph since she was ringside, putting it into sudden death, which could have then ended pretty quickly....

I really like the NXT commentary team (including Byron Saxton who is unbearable on RAW, but good on NXT).

They actually give insights into the match, and contribute a lot to the story of a match. On the main roster, Cole and JBL will regularly ignore rasslers working over a body part. In NXT they will talk about it, speculate about it, continue to build it up and mention it.... they actually help the rasslers to craft their stories...

I think Corey Graves is a excellent heel-centric announcer. Not too over the top but very effective, and he does an outstanding job of putting both heels and faces over. I'm still not a Byron fan but he's at least tolerable on NXT.
