Celtics played a hell of a game against the Bucks last night.

Gary Payton and Paul Pierce are a mad combination.

This season has been really weird.
Just wanted to mention some things I didn't expect

Wizards having a better record than the Heat at this point.

The Hornets having one win.

Rockets well under .500

Brevin Knight averaging close to 10 assists

Mike Fratello coaching again

Sonics having the best record in the league.

Orlando having the best record in the east.

Ron Artest being suspended.

I knew the Heat wouldn't be as good as they were marked up to be, but they haven't been entirely what I expected. Dwayne Wade has made a showing a lot stronger than I thought. I thought there might be too much pressure on him, but he is holding down. Eddie Jones has been ass though, and Shaq needs to get healthy and the forwards need to be better role players if they want to have a shot at the finals.

Quote:
The Hornets having one win.
This surprises me and it doesn't. I knew that they would have a big dropoff because they are in the best Division in B-ball. Then with Baron wanted to be traded and three of their top guys going down, I guess thats just how it works. It really is a shame though, Milwaukee should move to the West and either Memphis or New Orleans go back East.

Quote:
Rockets well under .500
A friend of mine had a big debate last summer about this. I used what all the TPWW people used on me about KG but on T-Mac instead. I said that he was unproven and greedy, but because T-Mac said "I am going to work hard and win" my friend believed it. I also argued that if T-Mac was really as good as he was talked up to be, the Magic wouldn't have been so bad. I guarantee if you put KG on the Magic last year they would have won at least 10-15 more games. T-Mac is a great player, but he doesn't show the winning touch yet.

Quote:
Brevin Knight averaging close to 10 assists
Not neccessarily Brevin Knight, but I am totally impressed by the Bobcats. They were predicted to come out just ass, but they are really doing decent. Emeka is playing real well, better than I though, and now they have my Mizzou boy Kareem Rush, he will be good over there. They have the core to be a good team in the future, and once they start getting more cap room they are on track to be pretty good if you ask me.

Quote:
Sonics having the best record in the league.
This one shocked me too, but I was pleasantly surprised. Ray Allen is the shit, and Rashard is damn good too. Its just wierd that after losing Brent Barry and Calvin Booth ( ) they break out. I don't see them falling too far down at any point in the year though.

Quote:
Orlando having the best record in the east.
Before the season I thought Orlando would be pretty good this year, but I thought that for a different reason. We know Francis is a good player, but Mobley was really solid last year for the Rockets. This year he has pretty much been a non-factor, but Dwight Howard surely has been a factor. He is scoring much more than I thought, and he really could be the next big thing. I wasn't expecting that at all. Go Magic.

Quote:
Ron Artest being suspended.
Yeah, this surprised everybody. I really do think that the suspensions were kind of sharp. But I do hope that the Pacers still make the playoffs and do well. I honestly think that they will, and they have a good chance of making the Finals. I mean, Artest is damn good, but Jermaine and Stephan Jackson will be back, Tinsley and Fred Jones are hot, and Austin Croshere has been real hot lately too. I think that even without Artest they are a legit Eastern Conference Contender (especially with how streaky Detroit has been). Also, notice I didn't say Title Contender.

Other things that have surprised me so far about the season

High scoring games again!

Last year 2 teams averaged over 100 points per game, so far this year 6 do. Then I think 13 teams average 97 points so far. That makes the games more exciting and I think it will help the NBA.

LeBron is King

Wow, I knew he was good and that he was going to one day be amazing, but happening this year was a complete shock to me. He is just tearing it up and will be a legit MVP candidate real soon.

Dave Waddings Suns

This is another pleasant surprise. Its awesome that Marion has been able to move to PF and the short lineup has worked so nicely. All of those guys are stellar players, and its cool to see them all meshing.

The Nuggets Sucking

Well maybe sucking is an overstatement, but they really have not been impressive. I'm not a fan of Carmelo, he was overrated because of LeBron last year. He is good, but he is not the phenom that LeBron is, and all of that got to him. I don't see them finishing any higher than a 7 seed.

Alright, hopefully this will get this topic heated up

A little of topic, but does anybody know what happened to ESPN basketball analysis David Aldridge? Is he still with ESPN or did he get fired or move on? Just curious, cuz i haven't seen him and Stephan A Smith seems to be doing everything Aldridge would do.

I asked the same thing earlier this summer. His contract with ESPN ended and since ESPN liked Stephen A Smith so much, they decided not to re-sign Aldridge. Now he's at TNT doing those games as an on court reporter.

Alright so how about the latest Kobe comments that have left Karl Malone feeling abandoned and betrayed?

Personally? I just think that Karl Malone is a big cry baby. Basically Kobe said that his teammates were playing hard and didn't need the pressure of having some old guy come and take their place midway through the season. Its a completely legit thing to say if you ask me. If I was a forward on the Lakers I wouldn't be too happy that an old gimp was coming back to take my playing time. As good as he was, Malone probably won't even start wherever he goes and will be getting the job more for his name than his ability.

I don't think the Wolves will still put up a huge effort to get him unless its a counter attack so the Spurs don't. I doubt Malone could be as effective as Eddie Griffin has been lately.

I just did my all-star ballot:

West:
F Kevin Garnett
F Amare Staudemier
G Ray Allen
G Manu Ginobili
C Erick Dampier

East
F Grant Hill
F Richard Jefferson
G LeBron James
G Gilbert Arenas
C Shaq

The West really doesn't have a dominant center, and don't tell me that Yao is dominant. After voting, I realize that I probably should have voted for Steve Nash, but meh. I was really tempted to vote for Alonzo over Shaq, but nah.

Well Yao is way better than Dampier this year. Dampier is not an all star this year. If you want a center in the West, go with Yao or Brad Miller. Maybe Kobe or Nash over Manu but, I can see why you voted for Manu. Kobe and Nash just have been more consistent overall. Lastly, I don't agree with Arenas. He's good, but not that good. I'd put Dwayne Wade there. But other than that, I agree. RJ has had a great year on a bad team and Amare is a monster this year.

I was considering Wade, I don't really know why I picked Arenas.

I agree Dampier isn't an All Star at all this season, but Yao just gets way more credit than he deserves. I forgot about Brad Miller though, thats who I would probably choose if I voted again. As for Ginobili, I just think he has had a great first half.

The Bulls have been on TV here once since Jordan's last game with them in 98. That was yesterday, when they lost to Phili. Couldn't have been today when they owned the Wolves, or a few days ago when they owned the Cavs could it?

Tony Allen for the Celtics is doing WORK. I don't really like the team this year tho, not a huge fan of Ricky Davis or his game. Pierce has been pissing me off this year aswell, he forces way too much shit. Celtics got more players this year then they had last year, he doesn't have to carry the load this year as much and force so much shit. Him forcing everything is really hurting the team IMO. They got some young good players though. Jefferson will be a monster, he is staright out of high school and he has already been beasting people downlow. Like I said Allen is doing work, and West was putting up stats but then he got hurt once again. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

Why they couldn't have just drafted some guards to go with those three, or better yet when they traded Miller and Artest for Jalen Rose and Travis Best they should have kept Brand, drafted Chandler or Curry (whichever was available and built a decent team.

They traded away four all stars for two high schoolers. Blind Freedy could see how stupid that was going to be.

These days a team including Miller at Centre, Brand at PF and Artest at SF (barring suspension of course...) would kick some arse with a semi-decent point man.

Makes me angry... like I want to stab Jerry Krause in the eye with a stick... :fuckoffangry:

Kings-Wolves was the 2nd of the doubleheader which we didn't get

Dez: I like Hinrich, actually a smart draft choice for once.

Bulls-Mavs 93-92 with 7 seconds left. I hate following games on nba.com

I am a big Kirk Hinrich fan aswell. I think he is a really good PG, and could work well if the Bulls build this team right. The future of this team is Hinrich and Loul, not Eddy Curry or any of those other underachievers. They need a legit big man and they will be good soon. They'll probably just be stupid and draft Dee Brown insted.

Pistons had a good win last night, it's just they need to start stepping it up. Billups needs to start coming through with more points (Hamilton and R. Wallace are carrying this team lately)

They'll probably just be stupid and draft Dee Brown insted.
if Curry and Chandler started maturing a little....

Hinrich-Gordon-Deng-Chandler-Curry would be pretty sick.

Isn't Gordon on the trading block? I thought I read the Nuggets were in the market for him. Its funny how the Bulls got Deng, Gordon, and Duhon. They could probably win a NCAA Title with those guys!

Apprentice does not have that much rep yet (10+)
Apparently Vince Carter is about to be traded to the Nets for Aaron Williams, Eric Williams, Mourning and 2 first round draft picks.

I duno, but that seems like a lot to give up to get VC. Though, a trio of VC, Kidd and Jefferson is intriguing. They just need some rebounders to get them the ball.
