plus he'll have a full offseason to understand the offense. Putting Eli in was the right move.

Yeah, I'm not saying that putting Eli in was the wrong move for the future, but the wrong one for the present time.
Ah well, as you all said, Eli will get better and better as time goes on. Hopefully there's still a decent WR left in the 2nd round of the next draft. |

I love how so many people have written Eli off already and then in two years they are going to be his biggest fan

There are 2 issues. 1) Giants fans wonder if they left Warner in, if they'd have made the playoffs this year. 2) Was it a wise move giving up 2 #1's to get him when Rothlisberger went later and you knew SD had to deal him because he wouldn't go there. |

I think a lot of people have written him off already
1. It doesn't matter if they did because with the talent on their team they would probably have lost in the wildcard round and then have no headstart on next season, when they will have a better chance to go deep. 2. You can't second guess a team for taking Eli over Big Ben, because Eli was clearly a higher rated QB at the time and nobody could have guessed Big Bens success. That being said, Pittsburghs success isn't lying on their quarterback, he is just one small part in it. If he was put in the same situation as Eli I doubt he would be doing the same thing he is in Pittsburgh. Thats just my opinions though. |

I think part of it goes to the fact that Eli is a Manning and in New York they wan't stars. To be totally honest, I didn't know who Rivers was until he was involved in that trade, but everybody in the US who followed football knew Manning and his expectations.

I agree, I don't think w/ Warner they'd have made the playoffs and if they did it would be WC and not gone far. I also agree you can't 2nd guess on Big ben, but you can question the logic in giving up that much for a guy that you know a team has to deal. Eli refused to play for SD, I wonder who else was in the bidding that caused the Giants to give up two 1st round picks, the talk around draft day is no one and the Giants out bid themselves. Eli cost the Giants this years first (which is fine) but also, this years 3rd and next years 1st and 5th. Seems like a lot for a guy that SD had to trade. |

yeah, he had way way way to much preassure and expectations put on him. The media made him seem like some sort of unstoppable force that was going to come in and throw 20 touchdown passes in a row. That's the NY media for you. And when guys do preform well, they get criticized because they weren't perfect. Look at A-Rod last year. He did good for his first year in NY, but oh wait, he didn't bat .340 or hit 40 homers, so he had a bad year.

What is the deal with the Eagles? Are they trying to make it hard for the Vikings? Put in your starters.
El Fridge, did you used to live in Florida but now St. Louis, right? |

Yeah that was the main thing people criticized him about was his release. The scouts all didn't mind though, said he had the tools to make it better than Big Ben or Eli.

it evens out, Seattle plays Atl who will most likely sit most there starters next week.
Stl plays the Jets who need a win to gaurentee a playoff spot. I think if something like the Jets lose, and Buffalo and Denver both win, the Jets are out. Buffalo hosts the Steelers who will probably rest they're starters. Denver host the Colts who will probably do the same. As said, the are at STL who need a win and help to win the div or make the playoffs. Stl win + Sea loss, STL gets the Div. STL win + Min loss STL gets wildcard STL win + Min/Car Tie STL gets wildcard. |

So the way I understand it is if the Jets, Bills, and Broncos all win, then the Jets and Broncos are in and Buffalo is out. That would suck since Buffalo would be a much more interesting playoff team.
However, it will be funny if Denver beats Indy, then the very next week in the playoffs is blown out by them in the exact same situation as last year. |

I dunno why, but I can just see the Saints sneaking in, I hope they don't. I want Minnesota (obviously) and Carolina to get the wild cards in the NFC, and the Jets and Bills in the AFC, the bills place depends a lot on if Indy rests Manning and everyone though

As a rams fan i gotta disagree... hey, eagles played smart, rams played with their backs to the wall. If they can beat the Jets on Sunday, thats when we will all see if they are truly playoff material
