Maybe but I dunno, its not like Papelbon has some wacky delievery or something which makes his throws had to pick up. I'd surprised if Papelbon fell off and ended up not finishing up well, I wouldn't be surprised if his ERA raised a bit right because it is pretty ridiculous at the moment. Hes been a top prospect in the farm system for a while now and did alright last season as well so I don't really consider him some fluke pitcher that came out of nowhere.

I didn't say he was a fluke and he would fall off the face of the earth. I said there's no way you can expect this kind of dominance thr rest of the year. Francoeur is a great young player (needs to learn how to take a fuckign walk though) but the .450 he hit for some time was a fluke and he'll never return to that again. Papelbon is a great young player but there's no book on how to hit him yet, eventually there will be one and he won't have a .45 ERA or whatever.

Reminds me of Huston Street in a lot of ways, flat out dominated when he first came out and is still good now but they're hitting him alot better cause all the teams have seen him a few times. It's especially hard to figure out rookie closers because you will only see them 1 inning.

That is why I am so envious of Albert Pujols, has anybody ever figured that guy out? With the Twins so hot right now, I can't help but to think in the back of my mind that Morneau, Mauer and Kubel will go back down. I know they are top prospects and young players, but I hate not knowing if what you are seeing is legit or a hot streak from young players.

That may be true, but as long as we've got the White Sox behind us by only ½-2 games behind us, I really don't see the Tigers losing as long as the White Sox keep winning, the only exception being when they clash again in a key series the 18th-20th of this month, and I could see the Tigers taking 2 out of 3 or sweeping the Sox, even though we only got 1 out of 3 from them last time...only time will tell I guess.

Yeah that is definetly the more realistic outlook on things. I am looking at it from a biased fan prespective here.

Manny (5 RBI) with ANOTHER multihomer game - same goes for Ortiz (4 RBI - dudes got 70 RBI already). Crushed the Marlins, good to see them beating the teams they are suppose to beat. Lopez gave up two earned though, not good to see because he has been pitching very well since he came over to the Sox. I missed how Lopez's runs scored since I was working and could only listen to bits and pieces since it was ridiculously busy, so I dunno how "bad" those runs really where.

Also, even though I probably like the Cubbies a lot more than I like the White Sox, ROFL@Pierzynski hitting that homer. That shit was sick, I love when those type of things happen in sports. As a player, outside of winning a championship, that is probably the best feeling you could have on the field. Imagine being in his shoes in that position...wow

That would be another what? - 6 years at his current pace. That alone makes me think no, as I see Manny hanging them up before then. That doesn't take in account any slide in his stats over the next 6 years. Maybe there's no slide in his game, mind you.

I've never understood the whole deal about trying to get a reliever work when and if he hasn't pitched in awhile. I would think, if you're a manager and you feel a pitcher needs work and the right game opportunity doesn't arise, you just work him hard in the bullpen.

Thank you. Is Wagner not aloud to throw in the bullpen and pretend it's a game? Why does he need to face actual hitters? Nothing good ever comes out of using your closer in a five run ballgame.

Not that I don't see the counter argument that game situations are the best places to get your work, but it seems like such a risky proposition with no reward. Especially when we all here that closers (especially) aren't really into the game unless the game is actually on the line.
