Can someone explain to me why they'd bat Chris Carpenter in the top of the 9th inning when they are up 5-4?

Then to make it worse, when he comes out to pitch the bottom of the 9th, they pull him after one batter. Sure the batter got a single, but what was the whole point of that?

I was working and missed that play that sounded like it was all fucked, pretty sure it was like the 11th or 12th when a guy didn't tag up or fucked up tagging up or somethign and didn't end up scoring. What the hell happened there?

ROFL@Seanez though, they left Tavarez in for like over 3 innings because they didn't want to use him. When your team is stretching out Tavarez so they don't have to use you, you know you suck.

LOL, Roy Oswalt is brought in to pinch hit in the 11th and he hits a double. But he misses first base I guess and after the Cards appeal he is called out.

Pretty crazy game, Astros are awful at getting this final run in. The inning before they had the bases loaded with one out and the Cards got out of it.

On our sports talk station today, the hosts both didn't like having the rule of having one player from each team. For me, I don't think that is a bad rule, but it just stands out so much this year because Redman was the wrong player and because there seem to be a lot of guys who were arguably qualified to pitch on the team.

But just my opinion is that people are going to be "screwed" out of it every year, but in most cases the person "screwed" will be the 7-hitting catcher on the Red Sox instead of the AL ERA leader. Shit happens, it's not like it really matters in the long run, but I just think that if you take away that rule it further isolates the East Coast bias thing even more.

This first half has been pretty sick if you are a Red Sox fan. Didn't really see a lot of people projecting them to be in first this season (heard a lot about them finishing 3rd...which still has a good chance of happening really) but even though the season is only half over i'd rather still see them in first in the AL East rather than anywhere else obviously. A lot of cool shit, Mirrabelli's crazy ass comeback, The new infield playing really well, Papelbon pitching lights out and staying semi-healthy. I'd say the biggest down side has been the two free agent reliever pick ups (Tavarez and Seanez) but the all the young relief pitchers have been doing pretty well - not just Papelbon. Red Sox need to get a 5th starter though, I really don't understand why they are using Johnson? They had Synder who pitched one game and did alright - and David Pauly from the minors pitched pretty decent - both pitched much better than Johnson.
