After the season, yes, but Zito won't be traded now. Beane already turned down Minaya's offer of Milledge and Heilman, what more could he offer?

I don't know if that is sarcasm or what, but the A's are in a tie for first place right now and they are not about to trade their ace and most durable starter. If Harden was healthy, still unlikely, but since he isn't there is no chance Zito is gone. Beane has turned down every offer for Zito for over a year now, there is no reason to trade him now when the A's are actually in first. And Beane has always preferred letting his stars go instead and getting the compensation draft picks instead of acquiring players in a trade.

Yeah, Zito's not going anywhere.

I do expect the Mets to sign him in the off-season, however. They can match any offer the Yankees give him so the Mets should win out as Zito would be dominant in the NL.

As for right now, it's gonna be tough to get a starter since there are so many teams still in the hunt. The safest bet would probably be Greg Maddux, I would think the Cubs would deal him on the cheap if the Mets agree to pay his salary.

Wow, Oakland demotes Dan Johnson to make room for Milton Bradley coming off the DL. This guy had 2 ridiculous months last year but has been pretty shit since then. Should be interesting to see how Nick Swisher handles playing 1B full-time

Also, stima, how long has Varitek sucked this bad?

When I heard that the Reds and Nats made a trade and that Austin Kearns and Lopez were gone. I was thinking omg we got Soriano! Then I hear what the deal was and was ticked. We traded 2 of our top 5 players for a bunch of average at best batting and pitching. You think the Reds was he last place team and the Nats were the 2nd place team in the Division and 2nd in the Wildcard standings.

Fans in Cincy are ticked and being from Austin Kearns hometown people here are outraged as well. Many thought Griffey should have been dealt before Kearns.

And I finally got to watch another A's game tonight Well, most of it.

So take THAT steema. Amazing that Loaiza only gave up 3 runs. Lester looked pretty good. And I liked Swisher at 1st. (I'm not a Dan Johnson fan SO I won't mind him being sent down again)

And while I wish they'd open up that checkbook, Zito for the Yankees next year

Also, Bob Melvin will most likely get a 2 year deal.

For a while now I've been thinking he has been hurt and not just saying anything because he has really dropped off this season. He is still doing alright I guess, but nothing like he usually does. Figures Loretta makes his 4th error of the year in a HUGE spot to allow 2 runs to score. Then Tavarez gives up 2 runs in the top of the 11th. He just had to give up that insurance run seeing how the Sox plated one in the bottom of the 11th, really don't know why they didn't walk Thomas in the 11th though. 2 outs with first open, I dunno, I'd be walking him.

Yeah Lester has looked pretty good in all of his starts, but he is having the same problems he has always had. He throws way too many pitches and has a tough time getting out of the 5th. Not exactly the best combo with a bullpen full of rookies + Tavarez/Seanez(Can't wait to see "Red Sox have designated Rudy Seanez for assignment they have 10 days to either trade him or release him")

lol the A's always win games like that, that they had no business winning. Always takes a 2-run error and the pinch-runner getting picked off in the 9th. If records were based on who played better in a game A's would be like 10 under .500

NY Daily News reports that the White Sox have placed García and Vázquez on the trading block. But I thought they, along with 3 other White Sox starters, had 20-win potential?

I thought maybe Tavarez had turned it around, he pitched well his last 9 games before last night. Same old shit last night though. He needs to punch somebody or something to just make his pick up worthwhile (although he did punch someone in spring training already)

It was funny on the radio today. Jerome Wiggins, the Vikings goofy-ass tight end was on talking about the Red Sox because he is apparently some huge fan. A bunch of douche Yankee fans kept calling in and they would fight about it, Wiggins is the man. BTW, Twins little run was fun while it lasted.
