Most of the T-rex fossil findings have been from the United States. I think that's pretty awesome.

I remember in the first movie when Wayne Knight ended up dropping that DNA canister into the mud a few people were thinking that it would lead to a sequel to where the canister would play into it.

Was one of those who'd theorized that would come into play perhaps they may finally tie the loose end so to speak and come to think of I seem to recall another event in the movie that was left sorta open ended.

no. a rex got taken out by him. we've been over this in this thread already. it is why tembo is the most badass hunter in the series, especially over frauds like muldoon.

Ian Malcolm was one of the coolest action figures ever, because it was hard to find and anticipated (came out after the first wave)
He was also just an awesome character. |

Malcolm's gun fit in his hands and stayed though. There were no balance issues. That always suprised me.
His backpack was way better than anyone elses because whatever it contained was a glowing green substance, and that is awesome. Nedry's removable arms were great |

How does Nedry get a figure and not Mr. Arnold? I call racism.
And if Nedry and Malcolm can get armed to the teeth, there is no reason why Hammond and Gennaro shouldn't be kicking some ass too. |

I hope they bring out the sea as well this time, that Mosasaurus needs attention. Also, I don't remember the name of this particular dinosaur but it was in Jurassic Park: The Lost World (The book) and was about 10-12 feet high with camouflage ability in the night. It was mentioned that the night belonged to this particular animal and it also roamed in packs, albeit only 3-5 if I remember.

On the idea of there being more aquatic animals involved, I like it. But in the sense of a movie I'm not sure how well it would play out. To me one of the major elements for this series has been people running as fast as they can from things that want to eat them. Can you imagine that happening on a boat? It would no thought be a dramatic sequence, if it is done correctly. |

The question is where they would be located. If they were in the waters off the island, they'd be able to swim the entire ocean and that wouldn't make much sense.
They'd have to be contained to the area of the Island somehow. There could be lakes, rivers, and inlets on the island but that would make them freshwater. Maybe there could be a cove with a massive steel screen that extended down into the water and to the sea floor. |

Like something similar to the setup in Deep Blue Sea? Yeah, that could work. It's certainly an obvious choice of circumstances.
I can just imagine it... There was a third island! |

With the cove it would be like an inlet, with all ocean and rocks. 3 sides would be natural geographic barriers, like cliffs and land, and the steel wall would hold the creatures in.
Based on some island coves I've seen, it could be pretty big. Not too big though, since you want to increase the danger. |

Velociraptors need to be brought back as the bad ass, cereal, killing machines that they are. Fuck science. Actually I would love to see a spin off B rate horror movie made just for those lovable man eaters.
Would love to see some sea dinos as well. After a quick google search this guy looks like the most promising. Wouldn't be too big to sustain in a cove, but pretty fucking big and scary enough for hollywood. ![]() Kronosaurus (10 m / 33 ft) Head 2.5 m / 8 ft long; larger and heavier than most land-based predators of the Cretaceous Period |

There's more than likely been several films centered around either that beast or similar creatures, but I think they mostly pertained to straight-to-dvd or SciFi channel movies.
I for one wouldn't mind seeing a sequence where the characters are being chased by a Rex along a beach, only to have that thing come on land (I know that particular dino is aquatic, but their were amphibious ones as well) which would result in the two fighting it out. Didn't really enjoy that scene in JPIII where that Rex gets taken out by a Spinosaur. I understand they had to build up how dangerous this new dinosaur was, but it just didn't seem that believable to me. |

The reason why you don't do sea attacks is becuase it was all ready done and done really well in Jaws.

Of course, but it would be one sequence of a Dinosaur movie, and not the entire focus.
I agree that just about any attempt at making a shark or sea creature movie is pointless because of Jaws, but I don't think that should apply to minor sequences. There were water attacks in JP3 anyways, since they made the Spinosaurus amphibian. |

Fuck the idea of cutting a certain approach just because of a broad stroke like "Jaws was about a shark". So we can't another sea creature movie again? C'mon. There's direction, story, characters, tone... All sorts of ways you can present a deadly sea creature terrorizing people differently.

They're all too derivative of Jaws. It's a cultural thing. When they try to be too much like Jaws, people say it sucks because it's not Jaws and never will be. When it's different, they say "it was better in Jaws."
Filmakers have every right to try but it's been 35 years this summer, and nothing has even come close. It's also a case of material. Sea creature terror isn't exactly a rich genre of storytelling. It's a pretty primal thing. There's only so much you can do with it. I would argue that the focus should be on telling a real story, and if it happens to be set in that environment then so be it. If you're setting out to tell a sea creature horror story, you're setting out to make Jaws in the first place. All of those elements you listed are completely irrelevant if the goal is as shallow as that. In the case of all of the movies that have come along on the subject since Jaws, it has been. |

Moby Dick and Jaws aren't even about sea creature terror anyways. That's what people don't understand.
In the case of Jaws it's something that was done perfectly within the movie, and set the standard, but that's not what made it work. |
