Ah, yeah and I just read Bonfire Ascetics don't work. So it has to be legit NG++.
And also, the covenant ranks are even more difficult because it seems to be that losses count as -1 toward your total. So you have to be POSITIVE 500 to reach rank 3. And it has to be of a single type supposedly. Like, the kills/invasions don't stack. It has to be 500 invasions, or 500 duel wins, or some crap like that. |

Brotherhood of Blood is duels only that have to be positive. Blue Sentinels can be a combination of both and losses don't count against you.
Either way, I'm skipping all that ish and will just play the game a 3rd time. |

Spent a lot of time wearing that getup, summoning red invaders, and being the referee for them as they duke it out.
Sometimes I'll fight someone with my whip and ladel. I've won a few. |

What's with this massive difficulty spike after The Undead Crypt? These giant knights with the maces in the Dragon Shrine are absolutely ridiculous.

Dragon Shrine is ridiculous. Straight up toughest gauntlet in the game, if only because of the flying death that waits at the end of it. I imagine it's a lot easier as a caster.

Flying death? You mean the NPC you talk to and leaves you alone unless you aggro him?
...you aggroed him didn't you? |

Last boss was surprisingly easy, not sure what to think of that whole final section after you finish Dragon Shrine. The pacing of most levels seemed a bit odd actually. Still, love the Souls games and I'm already back at the Pursuer in NG+ after about half an hour, took me 6 hours to get there the first time

I fucking hate The Gutter. Just so miserable to play. I've found myself not really wanting to play the game much since getting there, just so fucking annoying sliding off platforms when trying to hit enemies.

Light the torches and carry a big shield. I thought it was a lot easier to navigate than Valley of Defilement and Blighttown actually. Finding the exit was the most frustrating part.

Already doing both of those, I keep dying because of camera issues and sliding about the terrain.
I hated the Valley of Defilement and Blighttown as well. It wouldn't be Souls without one of these shitty dark levels full of poison and terrible terrain. |

If you take the first bridge with the zombie dog rather than jumping over to the hollow with the torch it cuts out a big chunk of the level.

I finished it pretty quickly in the end up. The boss was really quite easy as well. I'm finding this a lot in this game, some of the bosses are very straight-forward. Maybe I'm over-leveled for the area or something. I definitely think this is the weakest of the Souls games, seems less intricately designed. Demon Souls and Dark Souls had the really satisfying way of opening up shortcuts that cut out a lot of the hard work in getting to places, this game seems to just have shitloads more bonfires and much smaller areas.
