Yeah, soccer.

I think the track events start later, like in a week or so. I'll ask again though, does anybody know why they have the 10,000 on the track instead of a cross country race? The only thing I can think of is attendance, but a cross country race would be so much more exciting.

Watched the Romanian (as well as the US) women's gymnastics team earlier...they are pretty awesome.

I was amazed by the S. African men's 4x100 relay team, they stomped serious ass.

Still watching the softball..and they must think everyone watching is stupid. They were explaining the international tie-breaker rule and the changes. And the announce is like "I know some of you are wondering why the int'l tiebreaker rule comes into effect...it's because the game is tied at the top of the 8th..."

Well no shit the TIE-BREAKER rule comes into effect because the game is TIED.

Wow... just wow. Great game played by both sides. Great pitcher's duel between the Japanese's Yuri... Something (I can't exactly remember) and Cat Osterman (who pitched a GEM of a 1 hitter; she had 11 Ks). I was also impressed by Lovie Jung (the U.S. SS) her patience led to her seeing 35 pitches in 3 ABs, which accounted for 30-ish % of the Japanese pitcher total pitch count...just really impressed with her patience and ability to drive it foul. All 3 US runs came in the tie-breaker 8th..so it was a really even game down to the wire.

Why do they have both volleyball and beach volleyball? Why do they have baseball, but not cricket or rugby?

I don't understand how they pick the sports to be competed. Does anyone know the process?

Trampolining I can understand since it kind of falls under gymnastics.

Beach volleyball is there for the armchair perverts like Pedo Wadding to jack off to.

They tend to choose sports by ratings - so stuff like Modern pentathlon was dropped because no one was watching whilst beach volleyball was included because they thought it would draw good ratings.
