I predicted Detroit would do a Seattle, right now it looks like we're gonna do it, one of the most ridiculous offenses in years and we got shutout by one of the worst post season pitchers. And hey Bonderman is blanking us so far too

lol, this is hilarious. George is going to kill himself, or maybe just ARod. I predict he goes crazy and signs Zito, Soriano and Bonds.

Wow, what the fuck. Seriously. I guess getting no-hit by Jeremy Bonderman would be the perfect way to cap off this post-season. Incredible.

Our "Kardiac Katz" (sp.?, det. fans?) as they call em are gonna win it all this year. Oakland's gonna get TROUNCED and BOUNCED when they try to go toe to toe with us, and if the Mets wanna stand in our way in the W.S., well then we'll just have to send them packing minus a trophy!

LOL, I still don't see Detroit winning it all this year. Maybe I'm not giving credit where credit is due but I think this series came down to the Yankees choking more than the Tigers dominating them as bad as that sounds. Who knows though, Detroit will have a lot of momentum going into the next series. I dunno, pretty pissed right now so I really have no idea what I'm talking about haha

I won't be rooting for anyone but I think it's about time Oakland did something. I'd rate the Twins above Detroit and look what the A's did to them.

Yeah, can't say I will actually be rooting or watching every game but if another team has to win it, then I'd rather it be the A's. I just think they are a lot more interesting than any of the other teams.

I knew the A's could hold their own against Minnesota and that we could do the same v. Yankees...oh, btw, did I mention only 3 more outs till the Yankees and their fans get to "REST...IN...PEACE--I MEAN, PIECES"?
Edit/Update: Make it 2 outs now! |

WOW I am completely shocked right now. Good thing I didn't put money on the playoff games.
Pretty sweet to see the Tigers win it since they were underdogs. |

I think its rough for the Yankees (I'm a Met fan but I'm not gonna rub it in) there really is nothing this team can do to improve. You have every position player stater under contract. Mussina's contract is up so that's an issue, but you have Johnson, Pavano, Wright and Wang under contract for 07. If you resign Mussina that's 5, or you could go get Zito, but I personally don't think Zito is the answer. Bullpen help is so hard to find, so really, what can this team do to get better.

Also thinking A-Rod is going to get run out of town. Its also rough for him, this guy may be the greatest player of all time when his career is over and yet he's also the most hated player in baseball.

Yeah, kind of dreading what is gonna happen in the offseason. Something big obviously is gonna happen and I hope its not A-Rod getting traded. Most everyone wants it to happen because he choked in the playoffs but I disagree. He did choke but so did 8 other hitters and a bunch of other pitchers. Scoring 1 run over two games or whatever can't be blamed on one person no matter what, even if he is A-Rod. It would be bullshit I think if he's traded but something will happen and that seems to be the most popular choice.
They need to shore up their pitching because they really can't do much with their hitting. Wang is the only pitcher that showed up this series, everyone else was bad. Randy Johnson is like a bag of bones out there pitching and I'm not looking forward to him pitching and his already over-5.00 ERA rising every year. |

I really thought this was the Yankees year to win it again. I think Detroit and the Mets would match up well and would make for pretty good ratings. Detroit has got some cool players, or at least guys that are well known: Pudge, Magglio, Polanco, etc.
As for the argument that the A's beat the Twins and the Twins are better than the Tigers, that isn't accurate at all. The A's played a good series, but the Twins beat themselves too. The Tigers beat the best offense in baseball quite handily. Basically, the Twins played bad in the playoffs and the Tigers are playing good. Not saying that they will beat Oakland, but just saying that they aren't going to be as easy to beat as the Twins were. I really don't give a shit about the NL playoffs. As much as I hate St. Louis, the Cards and Mets would make the best NLCS matchup. But I tried watching some of the game tonight and it just didn't interest me at all. |

Honestly, before Detroit started to break down at the end of the season, I fully thought they were a legitimate contender. When they broke down I thought they might be a fluke, but I really think they have been the most complete team in the MLB this season, and they are the favorites in the playoffs right now, IMO.

I never thought they were a contender purely because of their lack of post season experience, I know that's not everything but still I thought they'd win 110 games and then bomb in the DS
![]() Tbh I don't exactly want to see A-Rod go as a 3rd baseman who hits like him is pretty hard to find but meh, we'd be stacked regardless. Much of a legend as he may be I was against us bringing Randy Johnson over from the start and thats not changed, I'd rather see him go than Mussina but meh probably won't happen like that. |

You can say Minnesota beat themselves as much as Oakland, which is true, but did the Yankees not do the same? Obviously that offense is capable of scoring more than 3 runs in 2 games against anybody, Rogers and Bonderman were good but not as good as the Yankees made them look. I think the A's have the advantage because they play so well at home and they have the pitching advantage in the first 2 games in Oakland (Zito/Robertson, Harden/Verlander). Kenny Rogers OWNS McAfee Coliseum, luckily for the A's he isn't going to pitch there.
As far as the Yankees, it's ridiculous that it's taken this long and Steinbrenner still hasn't figured out that his pitching sucks every year and he needs to stop signing hitters. New York won the WS from 98-00 thanks to Clemens, Pettitte, Cone and El Duque. The offense had a few sluggers but was mainly a collection of above-average hitters. He needs to sign Zito and trade some of his hitters for pitchers. George will probably blame this on Torre though, obviously Lou Piniella could've taken this team to the championship. |

Wow, looks like it all will be blamed on Torre. Reports on ESPN that he will be fired and Lou Piniella will be brought in. Stupid, stupid move
