^Agreed.
New Yorkers and fans across the country are going to call for a head or two. It shouldn't be Joe Torre's |

If anyone hears of any kind of online petition to have George Steinbrenner whacked let me know.
The Miz is right about our success 98-00, Cone, Wells, Pettitte, Clemens, El Duque all pitched great, we had Mendoza, Jeff Nelson and Rivera in the BP. And hitting we just had so many solid guys, no real sluggers just consistency in guys like O'Neill, Bernie, Jeter, Martinez et al, even Scott Brosius came through when it mattered. But the thing is then I look at our line-up right now with Jeter, Cano, Cabrera, Giambi, Damon, Matsui, Posada, Abreu, A-Rod. I mean thats about as good a line-up as any team is ever going to get offense-wise and doesn't include Sheffield (if he comes back), Wilson or Bernie. Pitching wise Mussina has been great for us since he came over from Baltimore, add in Pavano (unless he dies in a canoe accident or something), Wang, Lidle with Bruney, Farnsworth, Proctor and Rivera in the BP. I mean that's pretty fucking solid, adding a guy like Zito would probably just cement what is otherwise a ridiculously stacked team. Relying on average starting pitching was always gonna mean this series wouldn't be a walkover, the fact that nobody turned up offensively meant we handed it to Detroit If Steinbrenner goes on a rampage and cuts guys off left right and centre he'll just fuck things up even more, you can't win when you have a new team every year. Also getting rid of Torre would probably enrage our guys as much as it would the fans.

No way Torre is getting canned. It's not his fault nobody hit this series (besides Jeter and Posada, of course). We need pitching badly.

In agreement with what was said before, the pitching needs to be overhauled so bad its a joke.
When I heard Jared Wright was pitching the critical game 4, I was pissed because I knew it was basically an automatic loss for the yanks. That was just as bad as Kevin Brown pitching against the Red Sox in game 7 of the ALCS They need to trade some of the mega hitters (Arod) and get some decent middle relief and add a solid third/fourth pitcher, the type who ends up throwing well in critical games in the playoffs. Guys like Johnson and Jarret are like automatic losses in the playoffs now. |

To be honest, Zito on the Yankees just sounds like a disaster. He is going to command a lot of money, and he is so inconsistant. If he could pitch like he did in Game 1 all year, or like he did when he won the Cy Young, he would be a great pickup, but he has those tendencies to just be bad sometimes, and that is exactly what the Yankees do not need. I think Zito will end up somewhere random, like Baltimore, to be honest.
I am goign to go get lunch and when I come back I will try to have better pitchers for the Yankees to go after. |

Zito is the best available FA, but you're right, he isn't the answer. He is very inconsistent and walks way too many batters. I don't think Zito will sign with them, but I think George will drive up the price for the Dodgers and Angels (and maybe Padres) to sign him.

If A-Rod gets traded he needs to play SS again, plain and simple.

The whole not caring/no emotion bullshit showed up after the 2004 choke. They have had it ever since. Perhaps its time to let a few members of that team go.

I admit the Yankees made Bonderman and Rogers look good. You just feel proud because not one analyst picked the Tigers to win. Not one. Not even the hometown sports writers...
With that said though, the Yankees are so stacked it's ridiculous. I think Torre had lost it though for real when he sent Arod to 8th in the lineup. I looked at ESPNews when that happened and I was like what the fuck. In all seriousness, I feel bad for a guy like Arod. Guy hits 35 home runs has 125 RBI's and flops in the postseason. Detroit would salivate at the idea of having A-rod, even if it meant giving up some talent. We would respect him here... |

I still think the Mets are gonna win the Zito sweepstakes this offseason...but its gonna be a huge deal no matter where he goes. Wouldnt be shocked at all if Zito lands a massive 7 year, $90+ million deal or something, just like with Beltran. Mets can offer as much money as any other team, including the Yanks but itll also give Zito the chance to get his numbers way up in the NL...
but no matter, no need to focus on the future right now. Wednesday cannot come soon enough |

So Mark Ellis' roster replacement for the ALCS will be...
Mark Kiger?!?! lol, this guy has 0 major league games played and hit .233 in AAA this year. He was one of the busts from the Moneyball draft, I guess Beane is still trying to prove he was right by drafting him or something. What the hell. |

Zito is staying on the west coast. He's definately not a East Coast Big City guy. I'll be shocked if he goes to the Mets or Yankees.

Yknow what once Boston won 2 against us in 2004 I touted them for the WS, and when Liverpool picked up a few good victories in the champions league in 2005 I tipped them for that title, both are teams I hate, and both won in rather spectacular fashion.
So naturally i'm not tipping Detroit, good day |

I must say I find it rather disgusting that the Mets, Cardinals, Tigers, and Athletics are the final 4 in the MLB Playoffs
.....yet all anyone talks about is the fucking Yankees. ![]() Seriously, the World Series could end and the Yanks would probably still get billed as the top news story |

Yeah I can't see Zito doing well in NYC
Plus every team needs starting pitching and relief, its easy to get bats. Pitching is a lot harder to come by |

I don't think Torre is getting fired. He's done way too much for the Yankees for 11 seasons for him to get fired because his veteran hitters didn't hit. He may have made some dumb moves (Sheffield at 1st in Game 4, A-Rod flopping all over the lineup), but they weren't detrimental really. I'd be pretty pissed if he was fired, he's been the leader of a dynasty for 11 seasons and he has one year left on his contract, let the guy finish it out.
The returns of Sheffield and Matsui may have hurt the team chemistry (moreso Sheffield). Melky Cabrera was a huge part of our success and he didn't even play outside of pinch running. Andy Phillips and Craig Wilson weren't great for us but they were solid defensively and they are actually first baseman. I'm not saying that these guys would have made a huge difference but it wasn't the same team out there in October. We sucked. Big time. |

I was just watching the sports show on CN8 (Comcast's channel). Supposedly Jeremy Bonderman got "tipped off" from someone on how to pitch at the Yankee lineup. And in the end, it paid off. Any guesses who?

How the fuck do you get 'tipped off' about pitching to hitting line-up as varied and patient as ours?

Ok, the A's and Tigers are both stupid in terms of their series rotation. A's are going Zito, Loaiza, Haren, Harden; Tigers are going Robertson, Verlander, Rogers, Bonderman. Bad for the A's because this means Harden will only be able to pitch one game, a game in which he will probably rusty because he hasn't pitched since the last day of the regular season.
Bad for the Tigers because if they would start Verlander, Rogers and Bonderman the first three games, they'd all be on regular rest and Rogers would get to pitch in Oakland Coliseum where he has dominated throughout his career. Robertson would get too much rest but he's the worst of their starters anyway. They should've gone with: 1: Zito vs. Verlander 2: Loaiza vs. Rogers 3: Harden vs. Bonderman 4: Haren vs. Robertson 5: Zito vs. Verlander 6: Loaiza vs. Rogers 7: Harden vs. Bonderman Harden vs. Bonderman should be cool though, they were once the top 2 A's prospects. |

Wouldn't "tipped off" refer to the batter being tipped off on what pitch is coming? Not the pitched being tipped off on how the batter swings? That would be called scouting.

Yeah I dunno how you get tipped off on how to pitch the Yankees lineup. Maybe you just scout their weakness or something, pretty sure that happens for every team during every game ever. All about the execution tho

Also, if there was any doubt about Detroit being a serious contender I think last night might've gone some way to silencing it |
