They tend to do that from time to time. I remember years ago, JBL came in to stop a pin and it resulted in his team getting DQ'ed and I was all like, WTF?

If recent history is any indication, the writers currently don't know how the storyline will end and are writing week by week and instead of a big payoff, it will just kinda fizzle out.
