He's not overrated. No one calls him a top 5 tight end. He's had injuries the past 2 season and he played with a rookie QB last season. He's every bit as talented as Todd Heap and Gonzales. If he stays healthy he will be the main target for Manning , because he's big and dependable. Sure he talks shit. Sure he says stupid things, but thats Shockey being Shockey. Jason Witten has one good year where he's pretty much they're only recieving threat and all of a sudden he's a top tight end? Witten isnt miles ahead of Shockey. The only reason he can be mentioned in the same breath as Shockey is because Shockey has been injured the last 2 years. When Shockey has been healthy in games, he's ripped secondary's apart. Oh yah he can block too. Alge Crumpler is a good blocker, but he's a tight end. He should be a good blocker.

K, and Witten has had 1 out of 2... and his good year was better than anything Shockey has done. More TDs than Shockey's best TD season, and more yards than any season of Shockey's.

We'll see how Witten does this year.

I meant, same TDs, but he had more yards. And when Shockey had his most yards, Witten had more yards AND more TDs. See what I'm saying. Overall, Witten's season was better than any of Shockey's.

I dont dispute that at all. I'm saying that Shockey battles injuries and missed 1 game and played with a rookie at qb. That stuff takes its toll on individual numbers. This season will be different. I think he's gunna rip it up.

Injuries? Better conditioning. Rookie QB? Meet cokehead, and 45 year old backup.

And Witten had to earn his numbers. He was never christened. Shockey was given his catches.

And then, as well, consider draft place. For a 1st-rounder, I'd say Shockey has been something of a disappointment. Good? Yes. Worth his attitude? Fuck no.

This season, we'll see. But then, Cowboys will dominate with a healthy Dallas, Witten, and MARION BARBER III running the ball.

Inexperienced QB's usually help TE numbers because they are the safety valve. Look at Eric Johnson last year in San Fran.

I can't stand when people compare players by statistics only, there are plenty of other tangibles to include when you're measuring the value of a player. I'm not going to say Shockey is the best TE, or a top 5, 10 TE etc etc. I know there are guys better with certain aspects of the game and vice versa. I like Shockey and I think he fits well in New York. You don't have to like him, you don't have to think he is good, no one told you to do so.

AlphaBean. I'm a diehard Giants fan and I can't justifiably say Shockey is the best TE in the league or even the best receiving or blocking TE etc etc. I think what he brings to the game is a lot different than that of a Tony G, Gates, Crumpler, Heap which is the ability to incite a fire in his team. That is why I like him and why I think he fits well in New York. He sparks the offense. Too bad he had to deal with injuries last year. I'm looking for him to do much better this year due to the fact we have the addition of Plaxico Burress, Toomer playing the Z and Barber at RB. The only unknown is Eli Manning, if he comes into his own I'm hoping for at least an 8-8 season to build upon. Thats as high as I think we'll go though.

Marion Barber III is set up to fail in the NFL, running backs are a dime a dozen now and he's nothing special. One more year could have done him a lot of good, considering the records of Big 10 running backs in the NFL.

I would hardly call Shockey a first round dissapointment either, going into his fourth year he is better then the top tight end for probably 25 of the 30 teams.

I'm not real familiar with the drafting process so maybe someone could answer this for me:

What happens if a draftee holds out and doesn't agree a deal with the club? Do they get left in limbo or what? I understand they want to secure the best deal they can but what happens if the club just refuse and there's a standoff?
