They had a great thing with Matt Hardy V.1 and what happened to that? Where did that go? What did they do with one of the hottest properties on Smackdown? They let it fucking die. MH V.1 could've been a US Champion at the very, very least.

Matt versus Jeff at Mania was the best they've booked him in a long time. But because Jeff leaves, what the fuck do they do? They ignore the brother, who is not only getting hot again as a heel, but who could realistically step up and fill missing gaps in Smackdown's upper card and main event. A heel Matt Hardy in the main event on the Smackdown roster made perfect sense. And what the fuck do they do? They turn him face and do absolutely nothing with him.

Fuck that. Let him go, let him get back in shape and go to TNA where he might actually get some storylines that don't get pulled out from under him at the worst possible moment.

Look, no one has been there defending Matt Hardy in the past as much as me. I am a huge mark for the guy as a performer.

In 2005, the guy was fucking money. Vince absolutely fucked up in this year, not only with Matt Hardy, but with Christian, as well. This year was, as you said, about Vince proving he was the boss and what he said go. People want to really flock behind these guys? He'll take one of them and their heat, and job them out; he'll drive the other one to TNA. Yeah, that was fucked.

The WWE have dropped the ball with Matt Hardy. The times have changed and guys like Hardy, Christian, MVP, etc. are sort of being passed over for younger and fresher talent, this is true. The tragedy is that these guys never got their shot when they should have, due to politics or whatever. But to be fair, look at Christian -- the guy is being used in a feud with Alberto Del Rio when Hardy can barely serve as credible fodder for the guy. MVP, despite being stale from the critical perspective, seems to be someone the WWE are really trying to position as a fan-favourite to shove down our throats. Let's just see what the WWE does with him when his new theme song comes out.

Some guys in this business just cannot be ignored right now. That's why The Miz and Kofi Kingston are going up. Matt Hardy is trying to grip to something that he was, instead of making the guy he is someone to grip on to.

Back to the topic, I think Matt's time in WWE has come to an end. They're not going to push him any further than they already have. That is not entirely true. Matt got himself over as Matt Hardy V1. Jeff also had nothing to do with Matt promoting himself after his initial release and eventual return feud with Edge.

Kurt Angle continues to have great matches. Triple H is working with creative. John Cena has been willing to put over guys like Sheamus and Nexus, which is something so many other guys wouldn't do. Randy Orton has been on fire lately. The Miz has moved merchandise and has been turning out constantly improved work. Kofi Kingston has a great match with anybody he works with.

Matt Hardy is not a talentless hack, and if he got himself back on track, stopped speaking out about the company and put the sort of effort in that demanded attention rather than cried about not getting it -- Hardy could be amazing. Right now, he's an enhancement guy that's hard to get behind because his only perpetuating feature is his heat from years back.

The difference between John Cena, Randy Orton and Triple H and Matt Hardy, is that they are John Cena, Randy Orton and Triple H, and he is Matt Hardy. You do raise valid points, and I can understand and appreciate that Matt Hardy has the right to be unhappy. Let's compare his situation to one that Carlito found himself in:

I love Carlito's ring work. I don't think the guy was a subpar performer, or "lazy" as many labelled him. I understand that he got annoyed at the way he was told to portray his character as being "more like The Rock," and understand that the guy was more comfortable as a heel. On the flip-side, you have to play the role you are given sometimes. I can understand he didn't want to waste the prime years of his career on WWE Superstars.

I want to support Carlito in his protest about how he was being used. The guy could have done so much more. Right now, I don't feel like sticking up for Hardy. If I am going to appreciate that Matt Hardy feels fed-up that he isn't being used better, then I think Matt Hardy should appreciate that for whatever reason, I don't give a fuck about him like I used to.

Things pro-Hardy I will agree with:

* His shit with Christian, Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes was pretty poorly handled -- especially for SmackDown!. That kind of stop-startage and forgetage (new words) is the shit RAW is known for.

* He probably could have been used in a hot feud with CM Punk right after Jeff left the company, but that didn't happen.

* He doesn't have creative control over his character.

But here is what is holding me back from getting behind Hardy:

* Christian has essentially been put in such a similar boat to Matt. He isn't being allowed to talk (which he can do much better than Hardy), and to be honest, over the past few months he's probably had less notable programs than Matt has. Christian is doing far more with far less.

* He's looking like a mess. This might be a small thing to some, but the Hardy charm is wearing thing in Matt's middle age. There have been times when Matt is in tremendous shape, and I understand that he has had health issues and all that -- but the guy has just ended up looking ratty. He could still play the same character with shorter hair, and a better physique. While Hardy may have excuses for appearing to be out of shape, that's like Dixie Carter arguing that the stuff in TNA that gets "Fire Russo!" chants wasn't actually written by Russo. It's just not as believable seeing Matt Hardy beat Drew McIntyre right now (which he has done in the past, so it's not like the guy has been entirely jobbed out, or anything).

* Hardy may not have creative control over his character, but what is he really doing to advance himself? What is he really doing better than anyone else on the SmackDown! roster? If he wants a better spot, shouldn't he be working the mic better than CM Punk? Shouldn't he be working in the ring better than Jack Swagger? Shouldn't he be more consistent than Christian or Kofi Kingston? Shouldn't he be moving more merchandise than Rey Mysterio? Granted, Hardy doesn't need to do all of these things -- but what does he really bring that makes him special? Special in 2010? If he were working as a serviceable mid-carder, it would be fine, and well-deserved, but he needs to turn up the heat if he is going to get the pot boiling.
