Could a TNA and WWE working agreement help both sides?
I've been thinking, one way to really spark interest in the business itself would be for WWE to silently sign an agreement with TNA.
Obviously this is completely hypothetical, because WWE would never even consider it, but I say have it start out with Shawn Superkicking Flair tonight. Have it built up on RAW that Michaels isn't there and that he's "taking care of some old business". This one instance would be heard far and wide. A WWE contracted wrestler appearing on the competition. This would be similar to ECW showing up in the WWF, but the reverse (to start it). They would then start a storyline war, with talents showing up in both companies for a time. This would give TNA a huge boost. But my question is, would it be worth it for WWE to do this? To start a TNA vs WWE war in the storylines? To risk everything, in the hopes of kick-starting a boom period? I really think this could work. It's never been done on a large scale in the US. But again, WWE risks losing their viewers for the chance in building more interest in the product overall. Short term, this is a bad idea, no doubt. But long term I think it could benefit both companies. ![]() Last edited by Xero; 03-08-2010 at 07:27 PM. |

yea, I think about this all the time. I think enough fans know about TNA right now that it could easily work. But it would never be booked right. I don't think both sides could ever book to where TNA and WWE were seen as equals. And that's the only way it has a chance of working.

Closet that has ever happened dealing with the WWE would have been the 1997 mini-feud between ECW and WWF. Vince and Heyman had an agreement to let each other send some wrestlers to cross promote but nothing huge like a real Invasion style storyline. ECW benefited by getting a cash flow from WWF and tv exposure while WWF benefited by gaining the adult/hardcore crowd.

WWE should do it with ROH but not TNA.

This is what the Invasion storyline could have been, and you see where THAT went.
Could it happen? No, Vince wouldn't let it. |

I never see this happening.... Vince still does not see TNA as a threat yet (nor should he IMO)

People have been wanting someone to compete with WWE ever since 2001. Don't see how WWE coming to an agreement with TNA is good for t he business.

It would be epic. Could you imagine the reaction if AJ Styles came from the crowd and attacked the WHC champion (Either Jericho or Edge) on Smackdown. Enough people would know who he is to make it matter. I'm kinda getting a chub thinking about it.

I actually had a dream like this once. Mainly it was the TNA guys appearing on WWE programming. This was back when Christian was with TNA, so I think it was Xtian, Angle, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Christopher Daniels who showed up.

What if TNA was in seriouse financial trouble and vince or shane laid down enough money to buy say 15-20 percent interest in TNA? I'm sure it would be worth it then?
If I was vince i'd do it for sure if they were on their way out of business, good way to get close to talent and obsorbe what the best thet have like they did with WCW. |

Could it? Yes. It would be easy enough to do a lot of beneficial things through a working agreement. Won't happen, though.

Yeah, obviously it would never happen...wonder if Sting would agree to work on a WWE show as part of that hypothetical storyline.

If TNA wasn't trying to compete with the WWE it could work quite well, actually. Look at the past working relations with ECW in the 90s.
I think that either TNA or WWE could do something similar with ROH. |

TNA, as far as they are behind WWE, if far too big for there to be a working agreement. Especially considering they have primtetime TV and potential big names.
The working agreement with ECW was much safer, and came during more desperate times. |

Considering TNA is full of WWE rejects that the WWE felt weren't bebficial to the company I don't see why they do this.

Vince has no reason to do that. He has Sheamus and celebrity guest hosts every week
![]() As a fan, I would love to see Sting vs. Taker though in an exchange like that. Jericho v. Pope could be a pretty entertaining program as well. |

I don't think this would create a boom or anything. It'd be far too risky, as it's got more of a chance of making people watch TNA than of making people watch the WWE, in my opinion. I always think of what dream matches I'd like to see between the WWE and TNA.
From a creative perspective, I love the idea, however. Imagine if The Undertaker defeated Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XXVI, and then HBK showed up in TNA. Everyone would be talking about it. Vince would just need to make money off it, somehow. But AJ Styles w/Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels is a feud I am pretty much dying to see. Put the TNA World Heavyweight Championship on Michaels, and have him return to the WWE with the belt, using it as a bargaining chip to return even though his career is over. This can be what starts the WWE/TNA war. |

It's worked in Japan for decades. Won't happen here though, as things work differently in Japan. The egos that run the companies in America are too big for this to happen.
