Do you own season tickets to any team?
Or have you ever owned season tickets to a team?

I have Butler season tickets and will renew next year

I'm thinking about getting Purdue Football season tickets next year even though there arent really any amazing games. The best home games are against Wisconsin and Michigan. But i still would like to own season tickets to them. Think i'm gunna make that purchase.

It dont matter who did what to who at this point. The fact is, we went to war. And now there aint no going back. It's what war is you know? Once you're in it, you're in it. If it's a lie, then we fight on that lie, but we gotta fight!

My family had Giants season tickets up until this upcoming season. My grandpa had them since the 50's or 60's. 4 seats in the 5th row on the 30 yard line. We stopped buying them when the Giants decided to charge us $80,000 for the right to buy the tickets once they got to the new stadium. So now we don't have them anymore.

My dad and I got some Nationals 20 game plan thing one year. I dunno if that counts as season tickets. Will probably end up buying Capitals season tickets eventually.

Season tickets to sports teams here in Boston aren't exactly something you can just get on a whim. The waiting list on the Red Sox and Patriots is like 10 years

Away days are an expensive business to be fair, as if home days aren't bad enough.

I used to have one at Chester (RIP). Never had one at Goodison, plan on getting one in the next few years when (hopefully) I'll be on a salary and actually know what my incomings and outgoings are gonna be.

Two sets of Redskins season tickets. My step dad and his brother inherited them from their dad when he died, and so the people in the family who go pick before each season starts which games they want the tickets for.

Went to one game last season, Skins vs. Rams. One of the few wins we had, and a pretty terrible one at that.

Been thinking about buying season tickets for Boston College football up in the cheap seats. In their stadium I actually like those seats better than the more expensive seats. Haven't pulled the trigger yet but I typically go to 4 or 5 games a year. Anything else around here is way too expensive unless I wanna get New England Revolution season tickets or something.....

I've never had season tickets personally. My dad was on the waiting list for Giants season tickets for like 25 years. Chance finally came up for the new stadium but the whole Personal Seat License thing is obscenely expensive, had to pass.

Wait someone explain to me what this 80 grand charge is for exactly, is that gauranteeing you the seats for X years or what?

Gave up trying to find Canadiens tickets as they always sell out ten minutes after they go on sale.

I got Impact season tickets for this summer. Gonna be my first season. Seats are in the supporters section, so it'll be constant chanting and yelling. And drinking.

It's a way for the franchise to make more money. Typically it happens after the team builds a new stadium, helps offset the construction costs. Each seat has its own personal license which needs to be purchased by the season ticket holder. It's a one time purchase for the season ticket holder and once that license is purchased the ticket holder can then sell that license. Then the new license holder can began buying season tickets from the franchise.

Pretty much its a way for franchises to pay off the huge constructions debt they create by building ridiculous state of the art arenas/stadiums. I think they realize the licenses scare away a lot of "average Joe" fans but franchises are pretty confident the seats will be scooped up by corporations looking to impress clients/suppliers/whatever for whatever reason. I'd imagine AssMan grandpappy's seats where pretty nice to be going for having a seat license of $80,000 in this economy.

As much as people want to complain about this and say it sucks it is what is. Sports are a business, so if you want to see a good team on a consistent basis in person be prepared to pay a ton of money. Or be prepared for it not to happen - because good teams don't tend to have inexpensive tickets with a lot of openings

sport shouldn't be a business and it's tragic when it comes to that. you can't change your allegiance to a team like you could change supermarkets or brands of beans. anyone who does wipes out any chance of me trusting them, ever. plus it kills the atmosphere. who wants to be sat next to a bunch of businessmen and their clients?

They vary, but no, the PSL doesn't include the season ticket price. You are paying for the right to buy the tickets.

Absurd isn't it? Unfortunately, that's how stadiums and arenas are funded now a days, in the United States at least.

Well tons of people are making a living off of the sport franchise much like a supermarket or brand of beans, so it is a business.

As for PSLs I don't know what the average cost is, $80,000 sounds like a lot so I highly doubt that's the average. Not every team has PSLs either, like I mentioned its mostly teams with new stadiums to offset construction costs. It is pretty fucked up but the teams bank on the fans just blindly following the sport franchises no matter what, which is exactly what happens.

I don't really like going to sporting events. It's fun to go to the occasional baseball game, but I would think the novelty would wear off if you went to every single game. Also with something like football games you can't even see what's happening for 50% of the game. I would prefer to go to a local high school game than paying hundreds of dollars to see the Dallas Cowboys play the Detroit Lions.

I agree, I don't think I'd ever get a season tickets to a pro sport. I'd consider Boston College football because it's not a pain in the ass getting in and out like it is with the Patriots, it doesn't cost that much and I don't really care what happens on the field in case I miss something. I'm not a huge BC fan or anything, so If I miss something then whatever. I used to only really like watching because one of my friends played for the team but this year was his last year so whatever.

I typically get blasted before the games anyway, I went to the last home game of the year this past season and I barely remember what happened. I would never do that with a 120 dollar Patriots ticket.

Had Celtics Season Tickets in 08 and 09, so got to see the championship, then let them go, I know people with Seasons really good seats to all 4 major teams, so I'm ok with just going to a few games per year of each sport.

As for the PSL couple of things.

1) I'm pretty sure the 80K was for 4 seats meaning 20K per seat

2) Teams claim that if there is a PSL the ticket price is then cheaper since they use that to off-set some of the construction costs and get that money the first year. For example the Patriots when they built their new stadium did NOT do PSL but in return have one of the most expensive tickets in the league.

3) Another MAJOR difference is if you have a season ticket with a PSL you "own" those rights, so say you have season tickets to a team with a long waiting list and don't want them, you can transfer those rights to someone and sell those rights, so you may have paid 20K for the rights, but someone or company might pay you 40K for those rights. Now for example the Patriots and Red Sox do not have PSL and DO NOT allow you to transfer seats anymore, this has been some big problems and there have been cases where someones dies and the tickets don't go to their children. Hence a lot of people have season tickets in the names of dead relatives.

My father and I are paying $4,000 per PSL (for two tickets) which is $8,000 up front. The face value of our tickets are $120. Half of the PSL's were due by May 1, which were paid. We have until May 1, 2011 to pay the other half. We obviously have to pay the cost of tickets every year. We also have parking, but that fee is nominal.

We're on the second level, row 11. My father has been on the list for almost 30 years. We got the chance, so we took it in a heart beat.
