Stone Cold talks about wrestling again

Quote:
Austin Speaks On Any Interest In One More Match w/ Goldberg
by Matt Boone

WWE Hall Of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin was recently a guest on The BJ Shea Morning Experience on KISW.com. When asked about the Bill Goldberg comment about wanting one more match against Austin in WWE, "Stone Cold" responded with the following:

"You know that would be fun working with Bill. I’ve always liked Bill and gotten along with him. I haven’t talked to him in quite sometime, he’s a good guy. But no for me, I’m going to leave well enough alone, I rode off into the sunset and my health is good right now. I have another couple of matches left in my body but I won’t choose to exercise those matches."

Austin continued:

"I don’t want to go out there and be 90-95% of what Stone Cold Steve Austin was because I’m not going to sack and do it all, but I could be close, but that’s not good enough and there’s really no point in it. It’s not going to take me any farther in my acting career so it would be all for naught. I love my fans, I love that business, but I want to be remembered for what I was not for what I ended up being."

I love this guy.

i'm glad he's done in the ring and wish him the best of luck with his acting career.

after seeing flair vs hogan on TNA, i can really appreciate someone who knows when it's time to hang up the boots.

I don't think its worth risking his health for another match. Remember near the end of his last match vs Rock? You could tell he was in serious pain. He had a great career and a perfect last match against his biggest rival. Plus the good thing about Austin is that he doesn't even need to lose to put someover over. Simply being in a promo segment with him would help a young guy I bet

I can't express how awesome it is that Austin and The Rock have gone the complete opposite direction of Flair and Hogan.

I hope Shawn and Taker do the same in the near future.

I do think The Rock will step in the ring and wrestle again, but not fulltime and more than likely not into his old age.
I believe Austin.

I think Rock needs to give us one more match. A proper final match hopefully against Cena. The Rock N Sock vs Evolution just doesnt seem right to be his last match ever.

in case you guys haven't heard yet, Austin has a pretty significant role in the upcoming movie The Expendables which is almost guaranteed to be a blockbuster smash this coming summer.

I hate to say it but it's probably better Austin never wrestle again I'd like to remember him as 'The Texas Rattlesnake' not a senile old coot like Flair and Hogan have become I mean both of those men had amazing careers but they have ruined their legacies by making jokes of themselves and I'd hate to see a great like Austin do that

I say this all the time and I'll say it again, as sad as it is to see some of the real old guys like Hogan in the ring, Ric Flair has looked like he's 70 for about 30 years. For some reason him still wrestling doesn't affect me the way it affects a lot of other people.

Flair wrestling bothers me because it cheapens his match at Wrestlemania 24 and the send off the next night. Its not a matter of his man boobs because unpleasant to watch... that has been an issue since 2002

I dunno if I believe Austin. I still think he will wrestle one more match and probably against The Rock. If it happens, it will be one of the next 3 Wrestlemanias after this one, and it will be the final match for both of them. I don't think they owe it to their fans at all, but it would definately be a nice touch and basically the ultimate fan service.

Yea Flair had been going far too long. He had pretty much overstayed his welcome and was beginning to be considered a joke by the attitude era.
Him hanging around WWE in a midcard capacity wasn't that bad, but it was just a huge fall from grace and him going way too far.

The Shawn/Flair match was a second lease on his legacy. It was a great storyline, and an even greater match. It reminded people why Flair was a legend in the first place, and accomplished the rare feat of erasing years of overstayed welcome and sending him out on top.
Then he ruined it by showing up on Impact and wrestling. It's a shame not only because it cheapens the match/moment, but because it erased a lot of what it accomplished.

It's fair enough that people say that when a wrestler retires, he never really does; but I think Austin is the one guy who is the exception to the rule.

I don't know if we will ever see Stone Cold Steve Austin in a wrestling match again. Probably not. He hasn't come out of retirement yet, and it's been a few quiet years for Stone Cold. He's done a movie here and there, but nothing that has really distanced himself from being known for his wrestling character.

This movie "The Expendables" may not do that either, but it will get Austin more exposure than he has gotten in years. Who knows where Austin goes after that. If he peaks as an action star, though, he can always appear as a tough guy in comedies, or even as an alcoholic father in an independent-style drama.

What I wouldn't give for Austin vs. CM Punk, though.

If Flair wants to wrestle forever I'm fine with that. To my his legacy doesn't get tarnished. When Flair is gone when I think back at his career I'll never think of him hobbling through a match on Impact, I think of him going nearly 60 minutes with Ricky Steamboat.
