0.6
Are you fucking kidding me? Lets see the blind TNA marks defend this?
Before the Hogan/Bischoff era they were getting 1.1-1.2. Now they are spending twice the money and getting half the result. The WWE doesn't even try and they still squash the competition. Just wait til Orton hits his full potential, good luck TNA. Honestly, I don't know where to go with this, it just pisses me off that TNA was actually making improvements with the booking and story lines in 2009 and it seems as if they've pissed it away. Edit: The actual rating was 0.56 Quote:

I think they have a bit of an excuse this time. RAW after Mania, HBK retirement etc
RAW score a fair bit higher than usual (3.7) so next week should be a better indicator. But realistically it will probably still be like 3.4 vs 0.73 |

Next week they'll improve because of them running unopposed in the first hour.
However, lol, ouch. They now have a pretty steady decline going. Wouldn't be surprised if this rating is what makes Spike think twice about them being on Mondays at all. |

That's because they picked the worst possible time to go to Mondays. Mania season is always when WWE uptakes in ratings. Not saying I think TNA is going to do much better in the long run, but it is valid that they're going up against what is traditionally WWE's strongest rating period.

Mostly because they picked the worst time to go head-to-head with RAW. Lets see how next week goes. Dont get me wrong, they will get their ass kicked but thats to be expected. If they start improving gradually then that is all good. Thing is, I dont see that happening.

If they don't pull out at least a .9 (rounded up, of course) next week I think they're done on Mondays.

Moving to 8-10pm will help in the ratings, but that doesn't mean that any of their issues are being solved.

I came back to TNA and started watching again towards the tail end of last year. I was impressed with how things were improving... and then they rebooted in the middle of what I'd consider an upswing. It's been kind of a nightmare since then. |

The problem with TNA is that they aren't focusing or pushing the guys that need to be pushed. The arrival of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair is great and everything, but if TNA wants to compete with the WWE, they need to show the fans that they are offering something new and exciting. Hulk Hogan and Abyss vs. Ric Flair and AJ Styles isn't exactly what I had in mind; nor is this feud between Foley and Bischoff. Those angles would've flown back in 2004 or 05, but this is a new decade.
What makes it worse is that they HAVE the talent needed to make themselves stand out as a new brand. I am all for the push AJ Styles is receiving as World Champion. I think he should continue to work the main event with guys like Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, Jeff Hardy, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Mr. Anderson and The Pope. Featuring guys like The Nasty Boys, Eric Young, Jeff Jarrett, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Mick Foley and even Team 3D and Sting makes the company look bland and old. These guys are either all way past their primes or are just guys who can't "make it happen" for TNA. The company needs to go in a new direction. Hulk Hogan's TNA is not the direction. |

TNA and WWE will both be down next week. The NCAA Championship games is monday night. Thats gonna cause a huge dip in their ratings. It's gonna be tough to tell until the next time TNA is live I think.

I'm taking credit for that entire 0.6 rating. Look at the TNA thread. If it wasn't for my blind support for their product they'd have been 0.4 or worse.

There are ways to explain the bad rating, as others have already put forward. I don't think individual ratings really count for much. I mean, yes, they do matter, but it's all about the trends over a period of time. This is a great time of year for the WWE, and they have a lot going on. On paper, this WrestleMania could have been one of the strongest in history.
TNA is not yet going under, and we'll see how they are doing in a few weeks when their long-term booking plans come to fruition. And yes, I do believe they have plans. AJ Styles has been distracted with this ridiculous Abyss stuff, but I am faithful that the main event of Lockdown will offer something fresh and new to people. If The Pope wins the World Title, for example, I think interest in TNA could steadily increase. Also, looking over the TNA report, it seems that young guys are being put over. Eric Young got the pin in the main event, AJ Styles got to deflect Jarrett as a potential challenger, Samoa Joe is doing...something, Desmond Wolfe got to pin the #1 contender (bad move or not, it is great for Wolfe) and while he's still a bit of a joke, Jay Lethal got a chance to shine. I'm still willing to give TNA time. So their rating is not great right now? It's not going to go up to 2.0 overnight. During the summer period (save for SummerSlam), which is the WWE's weakest, in my opinion, we'll see how TNA is doing. And just look at what the Lockdown card is shaping up to be: TNA World Heavyweight Championship AJ Styles (c) (w/Ric Flair and Chelsea) vs. "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero Lethal Lockdown -- Team Hogan vs. Team Flair Abyss, Jeff Jarrett and more TBA vs. Sting and more TBA Steel Cage Match Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson If I had more disposal funds, I'd definitely order that PPV if it continues its current trend of being awesome. |

And by the way Monday's Impact was a pretty good show. Since they've been going head to head with Raw their shows have been better than Raw's (with the notable exceptions of the Steve Austin guest host and Shawn's farewell speech segment).
The ratings disappoint me but I'm liking TNA a lot. Their ratings are getting lower and lower based on a bunch of things. The fact that this is WWE's best time of year for ratings hurts. The fact that Michaels retired last night is a huge reason. Possibly the biggest reason is because their first show (when a bunch of people tuned in) didn't capture people's imagination and they're paying for it. the 0.6 rating isn't for what they did last night its for what they did sevral weeks ago. TNA has to be patient and continue to put on good shows. The last two shows were good, they gotta keep going doing the best they can and don't panic. If the consistantly put on good shows and allow time for word of moth to get around. Word of mouth not that the show is on but the show is on and it isn't the train wreck they remember. That is going to take a lot of time. They gotta put forth resonable goals. Right now TNA has to focus on getting a 1.0. Then after they get a 1.0 they have to focus on doing it two weeks in a row. Then they have to focus on maintaining it for a month. Then they can think of 1.5 ect. If TNA were relaistic their goal should be to have consistant 1.5 shows by year end. Unfortunatly, I think Dixie is dillusional enough to think that if only they sign (insert big name here) the can beat Raw in the ratings by summer. 0.6 is bad. Now they got to work on not getting worse. |

See, the problem is that, save for one single week (and it was literally a .02 jump) TNA has seen a decline since debuting on Mondays.
Spike TV will see that and say "why are we keeping this around? Ratings have been declining over the last month". I honestly believe next week is their last chance. |

The timing of going head-to-head on the Mondays leading to Wrestlemania and the post-Mania RAW defiantly didn't end up as a smart move but the gap between each decline means its also something about the shows that is making people not bother to tune in.
If Spike or TNA begins to panic without thinking of the long term, its possible the quick fixes could hurt the company in the long run similar to WCW and their multiple reboots and feuds just to get some sort of temporary ratings boost. |

The taped shows definitely do much worse. I think it's safe to say that most of the wrestling fans that care about TNA in any way are familiar with how to read spoilers on the internet
None of this is an excuse. They need to move to 8-10, and if that doesn't work cut their losess. |

I have been saying this from the beginning, they moved to Monday too early. They should have stayed on Thursday for at least a year or 2 more, built their guys up and done monday specials maybe once a month. Ease everyone into the new "Monday Night Wars."
Right now it is not a "War" at all, it is a beat down. TNA was not ready and they are showing it. |

TNA are wisely adjusting themselves -- if only minorly. I don't want to see them move away from Mondays, but they are moving the time down and that sort of thing. They just need a small victory here and there. If next week doesn't work, they can use Lockdown to shake things up, etc.
It's just a shame that TNA has an uphill battle with internet fans, because of their reputation for wacky shit. They're not really that bad anymore. The stuff sounds like a mess in spoilers and such, but when you actually watch it, it's quite easy to follow, and dare I say it -- riddled with development and character progression. When TNA does do something stupid, though, it tends to be what is highlighted. Abyss with the Hall of Fame ring, for example. It doesn't matter how great AJ Styles, The Pope or Desmond Wolfe worked that week. TNA still has to pull its head in a fair bit, but long-term, I have (perhaps misplaced) faith they can do it. |
